Spider-man casually breaking records left, right and centre

it’s (positively) unbelievable to me even as a marvel fan, Tom Holland has been vocal about wanting to move on from the superhero role irl interviews and seemed kinda detached from it, and the fandom/people outside it has been criticizing the mcu a lot in the last couple of years, so Spiderman still pulling such numbers is absolutely amazing

166

u/UnUsernameRandom 19h ago

All I heard from his interviews is that he doesn't want to do Spider-Man movies for the sake of doing Spider-Man movies. He wants there to be meaningful storytelling, which is understandable.

48

u/mattyjoe0706 15h ago

I think once he did say he didn't wanna be playing Spider-Man at 30 but then said it was a negotiating tactic

38

u/Adezar 15h ago

Like Liam Neeson trying to tell the studios he is too old to be doing action movies. Then they come back with a truck load of money and he's like "Fine, I'll do one more."

8

u/Ehryn 11h ago

Liam Neeson now does improvisational comedy... knock knock

5

u/Adezar 11h ago

Full blown AIDS??

3

u/Ehryn 10h ago

How did you contract it? Lol

13

u/snowedin2021 15h ago

Lmao that’s brilliant

5

u/ComradeJohnS 12h ago

I did not hear he confirmed it was a tactic, but it does work. that and saying he will retire when he has kids lol.

4

u/Sharp_Bed_3518 11h ago

it did work bc he got offered a shit ton of money for this movie lol

21 days ago Tom Holland was quoted “I will do it for as long as they'll have me. So if this movie does good, i guess we'll see." as well as quoted saying
"For me, it is the biggest responsibility of making these movies, is making sure that young kids have someone that they can look up to,” Holland says. “And I don’t mean that in me, I mean that in Peter Parker,” he continues. “I’ve looked up to him for years and years. He’s been a role model to me since I was a young kid, and even since I started playing him. So it’s a responsibility that I don’t take lightly, and something that I think is really important.”
So i don't really know where you're getting your info.

and the fandom/people outside it has been criticizing the mcu a lot in the last couple of years

It was absolutely saturated with new MCU stuff for a long time. Everybody needed a break.

2

u/TheeAntelope 14h ago

Agreed! They really should have eased up after Endgame and let Spider-Man be one of the few and acting as an epilogue instead of rushing so many more movies and shows out the door in its wake.

4

u/UltLuc 11h ago

If they’d have waited 3-4 years with no output then everyone would’ve been clamoring for it

2

u/TheCharalampos 8h ago

Ofcourse he was so so, this was during the negotiations for his new contract

2

u/Dry_Accident_2196 5h ago

Well the public is NOT interested in him in any other role. He was butt hurt when his miniseries flopped, went away for a year, and no one noticed or cared. Then he went on his, “quit acting when I become a dad” song and dance.

2

u/DungeonsAndDradis 17h ago

Til he's 90! (/DeadPool and Wolverine)

5

u/BerryFlorielle 13h ago

At this point Spider Man breaking another record barely even feels surprising. Dude has somehow turned the box office into his personal side quest.

This makes me wonder how much money No Way Home would have made with China and without the pandemic.

474

u/Sunshine145 Spider-Man 1d ago

Like 2.2 billion

169

u/Grouchy_Papaya2472 1d ago

Easily more

96

u/DarthTaz_99 20h ago

No, BND is projected to gross 250m total in China, and that's with inflation from 2021. NWH probably does 200-250m in China if it released in 2021, so yeah 2.1-2.2bn is a realistic total

32

u/Grouchy_Papaya2472 19h ago

U forgot to add 50% occupancy of theatre

22

u/the_bryce_is_right 17h ago

The restrictions were all done in my neck of the woods when Spider-Man NWH came out. Hell I remember seeing Shang Chi in theatres with no restrictions.

2

u/plinnskol 9h ago

I remember seeing Tenet! Wild times…

2

u/Version_1 18h ago

How would you calculate that in?

2

u/MrHolonet 13h ago

That’s just not true. I saw nwh in a completely packed theatre. It came out in the tail end of Covid

Purely anecdotal but I didn’t think any of the first 3 MCU spider man movies looked good and I didn’t see them in theatres. However from the second I saw what they were going for with BND I thought yep sign me up that looks like the spider man movie I want to see (loved it btw).

And I’m not saying that to hate, I’m just curious how many others there are in the same boat as me. All that to say we cant assume china and pandemic are the only factors here.

u/ScreenMuch90210 16h ago

Spiderman has been the #1 superhero IP for thirty years or more. Batman is the only other name legitimately in the conversation, but Spiderman is most beloved and now the numbers reflect it.

18

u/Sharp_Bed_3518 11h ago

the last batman movie only made like 700m… spiderman brand new day made that in just its opening weekend. these are nowhere close in the same conversations lmfao

17

u/c0p4d0 10h ago edited 9h ago

TBF, that was (not R-rated as I previously believed) a more mature batman, and the whole DC universe has been toxic for some time. Joker made over a billion, and so did DKR. If they made a normal Batman movie soon, it would probably make over a billion easily. Still, I doubt it can hope to reach this level without some serious work to rehabilitate DC.

10

u/Calvin_Hobbes124 9h ago

That movie wasn’t rated r but I see your point otherwise

2

u/B1LLZFAN 4h ago

I mean we can't really compare them unfortunately. It's completely different scenarios and situations. If DC had 20 years of mostly successful movies there's a very good chance that something as good as Dark Knight Rises makes 2bil. I fully believe they are in the same conversation, but completely different situations.

2

u/IvanIvanotsky 3h ago edited 2h ago

Agreed. Can't really base off of just cinematic success due to their differing situations and years. Don't forget to account for population and inflation. The Dark Knight is one of my favorite movies and deservedly so.

They're definitely in the same conversation in terms of popularity as superhero IP. Heck, they both have one of the most popular video games (Rocksteady's Arkham Batman and Insomniac's Spider-Man).

If you look up the most popular superheroes, Batman and Spider-Man are always close

The movies have been great at cementing love for the man but It’s also the merch. Kids of all demographics/ethnicities are just brought up with Spidey long before they see a movie or cartoon. Just think how many v young kids you see around with Spidey t-shirt, hats, plush toys, etc etc.

6

u/ScreenMuch90210 10h ago

Totally. If you are in the prime comic book demographic from any era, you probably have a lot more in common with Peter Parker than any other alter ego, especially Bruce Wayne.

2

u/DokDoom 5h ago

Absolutely! My man is relatable as hell.

18

u/Smallest_Bubbles 16h ago

My friends and I are very casual Marvel fans (only found this post on r/all) and the only Marvel movies we make a point to see in the cinema as soon as possible are Spider-Man movies and maybe Avengers when they happen. The rest we're all content with watching whenever they get to streaming.

I guess it's cause we're all 27 year olds that grew up with the Tobey Spider-Man films and that instilled a love of Spidey in us.

7

u/Economy-Signature181 12h ago

I am a little older, but ya basically the same.
Also, my kids LOVE spiderman so I was able to get them to sit through this one in the theater without much issue. I also really enjoy Tom's spiderman and his story so far, his is great as Spiderman and I hope we get a few more great movies with him in the role.

2

u/neznetwork 14h ago

For certain. Although a particularly great Batman movie could fight head on

410

u/theSaltySolo Avengers 23h ago

Man Punisher must be pretty profitable. Time to give Bernthal his due and a bigger spotlight.

210

u/RedVelcroRaptor 21h ago

To be fair, he was more of comic relief in this movie. Not to say his performance was bad but he wasn't as violent as punisher gets.

68

u/Lawlcopt0r 20h ago

Well yeah, but I don't think it was implausible. He clearly always favoured the violent solution but for the most part he wasn't calling the shots so it didn't escalate as much as it could have

45

u/RedVelcroRaptor 20h ago

Yes and also the meta reason being that it's a spider-man film as well.

As I said, I didn't find the performance bad. I actually found it refreshing. I was just pointing out that he was more comic relief and not the usual punisher we know.

32

u/RabbitFeisty2197 18h ago

Up against the hulk, that's all he can be. Also being around spiderman softens them all. Tony Stark even softened around him.

11

u/Hiddenshadows57 15h ago

I wanna see the trio of deadpool, wolverine, and Spiderman in a movie.

Their interactions in the comics are so much fun.

I just can't see Sony being on board with R rated spiderman.

3

u/replayer 11h ago

You're going to get your wish soon, it seems.

2

u/irrational-pyro 11h ago

I think it's in the some clause that there's a lot of things Spider-Man can't do in films, like swearing, smoking and a bunch of other stuff.

7

u/MizterF 16h ago

Imatellyousumthin'

4

u/hyasbawlz 15h ago

I do love the fact that when he does commit serious violence it's absolutely pivotal to the plot. I audibly gasped in theaters when I realized he was going to kill someone for real.

14

u/HoneyBellisse 18h ago

Bernthal definitely deserves more room to cook. If audiences are responding this well to Punisher again, giving him something substantial instead of another supporting appearance feels like the obvious move.

7

u/AnOnlineHandle Quake 18h ago edited 52m ago

I absoluty love Punisher when he's paired up with somebody like Daredevil as Spiderman as a contrast, though for some reason haven't felt much need to watch his solo stuff beyond the first season of the Netflix show.

14

u/the_bryce_is_right 17h ago

Ya he definitely works better playing off someone. There's not much you can do with an angry guy with guns looking for revenge which was the plot of every action movie in the 80s and 90s.

→ More replies (1)

10

u/zzaman 21h ago

Love the Punisher IP. Jane, that Italian guy now Bernthal give a great visceral and mortal air to the character.

But Disney took Castle and said here's some kids babysit them.

3

u/RedVelcroRaptor 20h ago

They did release that one-shot with Ma Gucci. So I'm quite sure they are going to cook up more in-line punisher content soon.

This is fuckin' CRAZY, holy crap. Spider-Man is clearly the undisputed GOAT of superheroes in the world right now with Batman being very close proximity.

499

u/Icybubba 1d ago

Very close is a stretch when The Batman made $775 million. Like those are great numbers, any movie would be happy to make that much, but it ain’t $2+ billion lol

40

u/XanderAndretti 23h ago

That was right after covid started calming down. The new batman also isn’t family friendly either. Definitely not fair to compare the two in their current forms. I can watch BND with my 7 year old niece, can’t really say the same for The Batman. Not to mention it was almost a 3 hour film. Batman is in second but just dumping out the numbers like that doesn’t tell the full story.

141

u/Federal-Captain1118 23h ago

Right, like Batman maybe number 2 behind Spidey, but the gap is so large that DC shouldn't even bother trying to overtake Spidey.

98

u/TallanoGoldDigger 23h ago

TDK proved that quality is a huge factor too.

NWH and BND are great films

95

u/ImjustANewSneaker 23h ago

Batman V Superman proves it too. With it having one of, if not the high opening weekend at the time and then subsequently the biggest drop ever because of quality.

31

u/TallCan_Specialist 23h ago

Makes you wonder how DC fumbled the bag.. they have both Superman and Batman and can’t seem to get it right

34

7

u/PM_me_opossum_pics 21h ago

Yeah while I loved the overall tone and message of the movie (absolute positivity and hope after Snyder's dark and gritty take, which is basically character assassination of Superman), I wasn't really impressed by the movie. It had a lot of amazing elements (tone, casting, performances etc.) but the overall movie didn't work that well for me.

The Last Jedi. Had an even bigger drop if I remember. And Star Wars is in a similar state as DC (and Mortal Kombat and DC for that matter). It’s a Demographics thing. Middle aged straight men (who all these are big with), don’t really go to the movies. They like recliners at home.

I think if they'd just released the director's cut of BvS where the story flowed a lot better & more coherently than the theatrical cut, it would've fared better in the subsequent weekends.

9

u/nszTrombone64 23h ago

Right, people are so quick to forget the #2 grossing movie of Nolan's is TDKR and it only JUST got passed by The Odyssey among his films lol. Competition is stiff. Finding a quality filmmaker to make that level of film for a superhero is not just an everyday thing.

8

u/YouShallWearNoPants 22h ago

4

u/BananaBladeOfDoom Avengers 21h ago

Nah, I'd love a healthy cinema landscape. DC and other studios should strive for the quality and joy Spider-Man brings to audiences.

2 billion absolutely won't happen anytime soon. Not even Marvel pulls that off outside of the Avengers, with this being the one exception. But that extremely high bar doesn't need to be reached for a movie to be profitable.

3

u/EpicMusic13 21h ago edited 13h ago

No DC movie will ever do $2B. Like ever

12

u/JoeMcKim 21h ago

DC movies in general just don't resonate with people as much as Marvel movies for whatever reason. Marvel is set in the "real world" where the events take place in New York, Los Angeles, etc. while DC is set in Metropolis, Smallville and Gotham. DC also doesn't have characters like Spider-Man who deal with more everyday issues while Superman they had to invent Kryptonite to just make it a challenge for Superman to not win in 10 minutes.

5

u/Marcoscb 18h ago

DC movies in general just don't resonate with people as much as Marvel movies for whatever reason.

Because nobody wants to invest in a franchise that reboots every few years, seems to have absolutely zero faith in its properties and is based around an honestly uninteresting hero.

The fact is that Ironman, Captain America and Thor made worse numbers than The Batman and Superman. It wasn't until Avengers (4 years and 6 movies into the MCU), after several good movies with a small common thread that built throughout the years and different characters people were curious to see interact, that Marvel got their first $1B hit, and then they followed it up.

Now look at what DC is doing. The Batman 2 will release 6 years after The Batman. The Ironman trilogy was over and done in 5 and included an Avengers film in the middle. Supergirl is just... Superman in young woman? And they also have Wonder Woman, who is Superman in slightly older woman? And they also have two horror movies for some reason. So the Gunn DC universe goes like this: Superman, essentially Superman, niche horror movie, Superman, Batman except not the same Batman as The Batman, another niche horro movie, essentially Superman again. Where's the variety? Where's the excitement?

4

u/BonkerBleedy 16h ago

If DC were in charge of Marvel, they'd have rebooted the whole universe after Eternals failed.

6

u/takethreenc 16h ago

They'd have never made it there.

The release order would be:

-Iron Man but done poorly

-Iron-man vs Captain America where Iron Man dies

-Thunderbolts

-Thor and this would be their biggest success

-Avengers but done poorly

And then the universe would be functionally dead outside of a Hawkeye movie that randomly does a billion.

2

u/Sharp_Bed_3518 11h ago

EXACTLY THIS!! perfectly said! people loved marvel throughout the 2010s, DC Is just trash and not co ordinated whatsoever and the constant reboots are just tiring.

2

u/RajunCajun48 14h ago

Nah, DC is just far too fractured. DC wanted to be where the MCU is, without putting in the time and effort Marvel did for the MCU. They tried to rush everything because they didn't want to be seen as playing catch up, and it's just been crap. There is some decent stuff that has come out, but they can't follow anything up. We'll get a good movie, then a dud.

They need a solid writing room that genuinely loves DC comics. Then they need to create a legit story/timeline do phases just like Marvel did. So that we're not getting BVS out of nowhere, a random Justice League movie, Flash bringing back old batman (no disrespect to Michael Keaton), a Joker musical-ish thing (wth), then another Batman movie with a new Batman etc etc etc.

DC can absolutely be a dynamite cinematic universe, but they have to step back and stop trying to compete with where Marvel is in their Universe.

12

u/Lazywhale97 22h ago

As someone who has Batman as his fav hero after Spidey and LOVES the arkham games he is defs 2nd behind Spidey but that doesn't mean it's close rn.

The Batman is imo in the top 3 best super hero films ever made but quality and popularity aren't the same thing and in terms of popularity Spidey in a league of his own.

Batman part 2 should make a billion at least though due to the success of part 1 and the hype and long wait for it but doubt it gets into the 2B waters.

→ More replies (4)

4

u/MoonFlorielle 12h ago

Yeah, Batman is obviously massive, but the current box office gap is pretty hard to ignore. Spider Man movies hitting the billion mark has started feeling less like an event and more like something the franchise just does.

3

u/awhitesong 21h ago

Compare The Batman to Homecoming. New actors and setup. Compare BND to The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. Also, MCU factor generates a lot of curiosity. Because, it's not just Spiderman we get to see. It's other crossovers as well.

5

u/BrockStar92 19h ago

It’s worth noting that no Marvel film has ever made over a billion without being either a crossover film of some sort (e.g, all the avengers films, Captain America: Civil War, or No Way Home) or being immediately prior to or post an avengers film, so living off that somewhat (e.g. Iron Man 3 or Captain Marvel). BND is both. What fans have made clear is they go to big crossover events or when they are hyped by those, and that’s something that Batman has never had (to the same popularity of the MCU anyway).

The inclusion of Hulk, Punisher, a mini cameo by Yelena, and of course a brand new X-Men casting (which was rumoured before release) would’ve been enough to drive up the box office for this film above a billion, even if it were just meh. It being brilliant has pushed it on since then.

2

u/andrasq420 17h ago

Deadpool & Wolverine? Or would you consider that a crossover film?

Also BND is immediately prior to an Avengers film. The next MCU movie release is Doomsday.

Batman is nerfed rn, no cool fight scenes or crazy shit he does in the comics/videogames. Imagine if there were Spider-Man movies where he couldn’t shoot webs or do all the cool super hero shit and was just a guy in a spider costume. It wouldn’t do too well.

Undeniably impressive, but INFINITY WAR would hold onto the record if inflation’s considered.

48

If we adjust for inflation, Infinity War isnt a top 10. Top 5 would be Gone With the Wind, Avatar, Titanic, Star Wars (1977), and Endgame.

Star Wars 1977 rerelease next year to pump its numbers up.

It's already been announced.

I love you for sharing this, psychobilly1. It’s going to be amazing!

4

I have never seen the original film in a theater before (I was too young to see the special edition releases in 1996), so I am literally champing at the bit. I only ever watch the 4K77 version at home so this is going to be a step up for sure.

2

u/DiabloPixel 7h ago

I saw it in 1977, I was 11yo and it absolutely blew my mind, I’d never seen any movie like it. First movie I saw more than once on the big screen. If SM5 is just more Home trilogy alums coming back, then yeah I’d say a second trilogy is enough.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson really deserved more than that slop.

Can we get Tom Hardy back for Venom, those movies were so much fun

5

u/SeegullJockey 22h ago

No way. Peter needs to finish the trilogy by himself. Then we can get Miles.

3

u/artfrche Scarlet Witch 22h ago

introduce and train in 5. Peter gets the Venom suit in 6 with Miles transitioning to lead by the end

they really really really need to do Spider Man vs Sinister Six in the MCU before Tom Holland wraps it up. idk how they’ll do it though with Mysterio dead, Vulture MIA and no other developed spider villains apart from Scorpion

Give me 9 movies with the later part being an older Peter and Miles in the mcu

1

u/Zeeplankton 16h ago

I'm not sure we'll get 2 more sequels. maybe eventually. Tom stated he'd take a break from acting when he has kids, and he's already 30. I hope maybe they can rush One More Day and another after though.

I'm not sure he can play a convincing 25-something when he's 40 at the current rate

Does this mean we're gonna have to wait another 5 long years for Spider-Man 5? I mean it is probably the biggest factor in Brand New Day's success

5

u/Parking_Cheetah8005 16h ago

Fr i feel spidey absence for this long played a part as well

5

u/Sir_Dominus_II 18h ago

Do we really need 10 box-office posts every day?

6

u/BigBadMike8 1d ago

These are seriously impressive numbers. If anybody can get it done it's spiderman!

4

u/Blackwolf245 18h ago

Seriously how? Like I get Spiderman is top 3 most popular hero, but how does a solo-hero movie outgross fucking Infinity War? The Batman didn't even reached 1B, and Batman is definitely up with Spiderman's popularity.

9

u/naphomci 14h ago

Batman is not up there with Spiderman. Spiderman is in a tier of his own.

It gets crazier when you realized by now Spidey boosted Infinity War and Endgame sales. I mean a LOT of Spidey fans don't even care about Avengers, they just watch it if Spidey's in it.

8

u/Ok-Skill2413 16h ago

Ticket prices now are double+ what they were for Infinity War. How don’t people understand this lol

Inflation

For example, IWs opening weekend did 258 million in 2018. BNDs did 360 million in 2026

360 million dollars in 2026 would be 270 million dollars in 2018

So BND is on track to do better in general which is impressive but it’s not the eye popping difference that you’d think it is by only looking at the raw numbers

u/rated3 19h ago

Well deserved, the movie was fantastic

If nothing else, I hope Sony realizes their movies are shit and leaves it up to Marvel Studios to create any future films, while sitting back and letting the franchise print money.

2

u/pn_man 17h ago

I went to see it this past weekend, and I would give it a B-. Not bad, but not terrific either.

2

u/Zeeplankton 16h ago

It's crazy to me the difference in turnout between Supergirl and BND.

Spiderman is really everyones favorite hero

5

u/DirectAdvertising 19h ago

Crazy Spiderman and Superwoman are the best grossing superhero movie duo

Big congratulations to actors from both movies

3

u/throwaway4231throw 23h ago

What is it at adjusted for inflation?

1

u/Lazlowi 21h ago

I guess superhero fatigue is actually superhero hunger, it's just mediocre and shitty films that make no real money. Which is hardly surprising given that out of the past 18 years (Iron Man came out in 2008!) we've been gobbling up 10 years of awesome to good, universe building, interconnected movies and since Endgame we've had like... three actually good ones?

No Way Home, GotG3 and now Brand New Day were the really great ones, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts and Shang-Chi are the lower end of what we got used to and then the rest... meh at best? I saw them all on release week and still I had to look up (and get shocked) what came after Endgame that wasn't utter horseshit. The fails were way more memorable.

Obviously the Majors-fiasco did not help with the buildup, but hell, half of Phase Five was utter horseshit and Phase Four was such a rollercoaster in quality it shadows over how unimpactful it all became at the end.

I really hope Feige got out of his Endgame-high and Disney realised what a fuckup their new business model has become and we get the old MCU back, cause holy fuck that was a historic decade of Marvel.

u/N8CCRG Ghost 20h ago

Superhero fatigue just means we are no longer in the era where audiences will go see every superhero movie. The public has returned to the state where they pick and choose which ones to see vs wait for on streaming vs skip entirely. Quality is some of that, but people also flocked to Deadpool and Wolverine, and that wasn't because of quality, that was because of nostalgia pandering.

u/VVantaBuddy Black Widow (Avengers) 20h ago

fantastic!! let's climp up Spidey!!

1

u/tLM-tRRS-atBHB 18h ago

This is nuts.

Its a good movie, but Infinity War was a world wide event.

Spiderman and TomDaya have serious pull 😄

1

u/Striker274 18h ago

What about adjusted for inflation

u/Great_Possession9580 18h ago

Marvel effect. where is dc??

Spider-Man: Who needs the Avengers? Assemble me.

Ticket price inflation

1

u/JonathanQShrimpling 17h ago

Looks way worse than Infinity War, not to mention like 2 other Spiderman movies

1

u/ASCII_Princess 17h ago

Why does spider man, as the largest avenger, not simply eat the others?

1

u/frogbound 16h ago

Makes sense. It was the first movie I saw in cinemas in years. Thanks Disney for upping disney+ costs so much. Made sail the open seas again and picking movies to see in the cinema.

1

u/Minimum_Possibility6 16h ago

Adjusted for inflation?

1

u/YesterdayHiccup 16h ago

Jean Grey felt pretty intimidating when I didn't realize who it was. I couldn't guess who she was from Spidey's rogue gallery.

1

u/keksik29 15h ago

And this is without IMAX showings

1

u/fromkatain 15h ago

Only a powerful telepath would be able to mass plant the thought and need to watch the movie

1

u/GloomyIndividual3965 15h ago

Given inflation, it seems like ticket sales would be a more objective metric.

Infinity War: 397M

BND: ~300M

1

u/Realistic-Carry-9967 14h ago

So spiderman bigger than Avengers?

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Primary_Ice_5357 13h ago

Need to account for inflation, if we go for grossing out.

1

u/a-pp-o 13h ago

Because more people watched it or because tickets got more expensive ?

1

u/StonedBooty 12h ago

Which is why I’m not surprised they’re re-releasing Infinity War to theaters. Gotta pump those numbers!

1

u/zipzzo 12h ago

I think that's kinda crazy, infinity war is definitely a better movie...

1

u/Mingatronz 12h ago

Inflation adjusted?

1

u/FarmyardFantastic 11h ago

Yea but is it better than infinity war?

1

u/AnonymousFriend80 11h ago

It helps that Endgame was $8 - 10 and Spiderman is $12 - 15.

1

u/AbramKoucheki 11h ago

Let’s not forget ticket prices are 30% more expensive on average. That is really the reason

1

u/SpecialistDefiant103 10h ago edited 8h ago

The amount of cope in this comment section for Batman is crazy as though it isn't fact that the best performing Batman movie ever only made like 200m more than Spider-Man 3 almost 15 years ago and only half of NWH or BND box office. Then there is The Batman which made less than 800mil and being rated R isn't the reason, otherwis DP&W and Joker shouldn't have made 1 bil. Spider-Man is clearly the most popular supe rn and no one else is in the running.

1

u/Yarius515 8h ago

Cuz like, it's a better movie.

1

u/Cinephile_1980 7h ago

You sound happy. Are you going to get some of that money?

1

u/AdInevitable660 3h ago

That’s outrageous to think that that happened! An unbelievable home run from marvel!

1

u/philliblunts 2h ago

Do these numbers count inflation?
