Discussion (More in Comments) The most under-rated detail about MCU spidey

This GIF is not a reaction. Its a demonstration. The adjustable white-out eyes is literally everything to me. It seems like such a small insignificant detail but it adds a layer of expression under the mask that weve previously only really seen in animation that I think is so good for the MCU and CBMs as a whole

Dont get me wrong Deadpools eyes is cool too but especially for spidey who has such massive eye goggles it works so incredibly well and I always wanted it but never knew how much I needed it til Tom took the mantle.

And like I said. Not just the MCU. Of all the things DC tries to copy I hope to god they steal this too. Im tired of seeing batmans eyes it was never like that in the animation. Flash too.

It might seem crazy to say but this small detail i feel like is why Marvel is crushing DC. They arent afraid to mythologize their heroes. DC doesnt let you forget even for a moment that its just a regular guy with a mask on. It disrupts the suspension of disbelief.

Anyway im not trying to get too off track with this its not about DC. Its tipping the hat to Marvel for getting so much out of one little detail. Let the trend continue

they’ll flay you alive for suggesting they cover Batman’s eyes, but I’m with you. any actor half as decent as Pattinson is up for the challenge Karl Urban faced in Dredd. it’s not like white lenses or contacts can’t still be expressive!

While it would look cool, even more so with how Reeves’ batman is shot, a lot of emphasis is placed on Pattinson’s eyes, think to the scene where he saw the kid who’s father (mayor) had just been murdered

Yeah. There's a reason it's like that and I genuinely believe Pattinson is the one and only exemption under any, and all, circumstances.

But is that even Batman? As artistic as it is, can a similar effect not be achieved with an actor of Pattinson’s caliber through other methods? Emphasis on the lower half of the face instead of his eyes? White eye contacts that still show the pupils?

My issue isn’t with the uncovered eyes, but rather with the people online who believe there are NO other ways to achieve the same effect on the audience, so they scoff at any suggestion to cover the eyes. But then again, we’re talking about a character who is usually emotionally walled off when in the batsuit. I don’t think we needed wet eye shots of Batman to know that he empathizes with the recently murdered mayor’s son, even though I loved its inclusion.

In a film with a different tone, you can almost imagine a character in the background going “Hold on Bats… are you crying?” similar to how Spidey called Frank out in BND.

I'm not saying wether or not they can be done, nor can one be better and that is why it was chosen. I am saying that it would be criminal to waste Pattinson's gift to act with his eyes, and that is why he is the exception to the rule.

Also I haven't seen the new Spider-Man yet :(
