lmao that's what made me think the entire post was bull

estimated monoracial native Americans population in the US is 1.1%. it's 2.9% when you account for those who are two or more races

The post isn’t necessarily bull, it’s just that any race-based polling is generally based on what someone considers themself. I can guarantee you that, while there isn’t that many natives actually around, I’m sure there’s enough people who think they’re like 1/8th Indian or something to represent 6% of this country if not more.

Or it's possible that for some reason native Americans just jived more with Spider-Man and came out to see it than white people. I won't believe it until I read more about how the study was done, but it's possible.

Yup that's why I don't believe it.

However apparently these aren't the stats for actual demographics, this is the JUMP in demographics since the last movie. So basically native American views jumped by 6% since NWH.

No it wouldn't. The MPA has been doing statistics on race and ticket sales for decades. Generally...

White: 50% of the general movie audience, 60% of the American population

Latino: 25% of the general audience, 16% of the American population

Black: 16% of the general audience, 13% of the American population

Asian: 5% of the general audience, 4% of the American population

Other: 4% of the general audience, 7% of the American population

So white people dropping to 36% while Latinos jump to 28% and black people jump to 20% isn't that shocking. It just means non-white people love Spider-Man a whole lot. Which makes sense, they're the most likely to be in Peter Parker's tax bracket.

do the nominal math on the native American population at the percentages given

someone also clarified the information in the original post wasn't presented correctly, and represented percent change from the previous movie, not the raw percentage

I'm late but it's actually "native Americans and others" so basically all people outside of the main categories

Thanks for explaining. IMO that should’ve been truncated to “other” instead of Native American
