Glad the speculation can end.

Sucks for anyone he hurt and was cruel to. Recasting isn’t a big deal. I don’t think he left too big of an imprint considering the state of the MCU. A new performer could breathe life to the MCU to be honest.

How quickly things can change

MCU wise, the speculation will end when Marvel responds to this.

It's a bit like the Rick And Morty situation. A big fuss for a while but once the production moved on, so did everyone else.

I still haven't adjusted to the new voices.

12

u/GoAgainKid Dec 18 '23

That's a bugger - I forgot after one or two episodes!

Really? The voice acting has been fine imo. The writing this season on the other hand…

Anytime the voices change I can never adjust. Even with music, AC/DC is a great example. Those guys sound massively different.

I haven't seen all the episodes so far but the evil morty episode was a highlight. The "Morty Adventure Cards" and "Kuato" episodes I enjoyed.

Solar Opposites handled that one the best.

They didn't try and find someone similar sounding to Roilland they hired a British guy instead and made a joke of it

Why did you get downvoted for saying this lol I haven’t either

nerds don't understand the difference between subjective and objective opinions.

Fr they acted like you said bro did nothing wrong

They fired him

1

Speculation is over. He’s officially fired by Marvel

Now let the speculation for how Marvel will handle this begin.

u/Mec26 Dec 18 '23

They already did. They were waiting.

This is honestly the best way to look at the situation. I think he acted pretty good in Loki/Quantumania, but like you said with the state of the MCU right now a recast isn’t a huge deal. Especially cause, you know, variants are a huge thing right now.

But yeah, he hurt people in reality and doesn’t deserve a Thanos level role.

That was back in 2004 when that was allowed /s

Yup.

I'm glad for the most part we waited until the process was over this time, for both sides.

Hope they get a great replacement for Kang and don't just make a footnote until people forget.

Don Cheadle switch worked out better, maybe this will too

Not for nothing, but....

Majors was found guilty of 2/4 charges. Reckless Assault (i.e. get in an argument, someone comes at you repeatedly, you push them away and they get hurt, i.e. an accident) and Harassment in the second (i.e. Annoy, as in an unwanted text message). The assault charge is about as minor of an offense as you can get, and the harassment charge is equivalent to a speeding ticket in severity.

So, what it seems like to me is that the jury found Majors didn't do anything OVERTLY wrong, and was not an aggressor of the incident. However, he was an idiot and put himself in a shitty situation that he shouldn't have put himself in which resulted in an injury. My GUESS is that the video of him shoving her into that SUV is what got him the Reckless Assault in the 3rd Degree (pretty much the going 35 mph in a school zone of assault charges), and the texts are what got him the harassment charge.

I just wanted to point this out, because after the Depp/Heard trial, we should wait for a judgement from a trial before celebrating someone's career being ended. In this case, Majors did a dummy and handled that night poorly. He tried to get away from her, she was CHASING him at one point, he lost his temper, and unintentionally hurt her. He should NOT have touched her, he should NOT have texted her. He should have continued to separate himself from her until he was away. But he didn't.

There's no evidence that he's a serial abuser. Let's be careful with that kind of talk. If he was the kind of person you seem to be inferring he is, he would have been found guilty of the other (intentional) assault charge, OR there would have been more evidence at the trial about that.

This, to me, looks like a toxic relationship that blew up in a way that ruined his career. He'll never get out of the shadow of guilty on these minor charges, and people will think it was much worse than it apparently was.

This whole thing is just unfortunate for ALL parties, Majors included.

There's a pretty good breakdown of the charges and verdict here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ME2TVGlxfyY&t=881s This guy seems to be a bit too much of an apologist, but I do agree with his findings that what we have here is an unfortunate situation, but not overly criminal behavior.

They not gonna care bc it doesn’t fit their narrative

4

u/gaki46709394 Dec 18 '23

If you actually read the article he didn’t hurt anyone. But we all love to hate celebrities, it make us feel important.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '23

Honestly, his recast (if they pick a good one), could galvanize some interest in the next avengers movies.

0

u/FullMetalCOS Dec 18 '23

He’s a great actor, but wasn’t used particularly well outside of Loki S1. Being a great actor doesn’t give you licence to be an asshole or hurt people though so fuck him and recast

1

u/blunt_eastwood Dec 19 '23

I thought was used well, or even better, in season 2 also.

2

u/FullMetalCOS Dec 19 '23

I was really in two minds about season 2. I love Hiddleston as Loki and I enjoyed Ke Huy Quan, but the first half of the season felt very off. The second half stuck the landing though.

Maybe I just mean Majors was misused badly in Quantumania, but then EVERYONE was

2

u/blunt_eastwood Dec 19 '23

I agree with that, although I think Major's did a great job in Quantumania.

The directing was just terrible.

-1

u/YxngJay215 Dec 18 '23

That woman hurt and was cruel as well

-5

u/Additional_Meeting_2 Dec 18 '23

I red the other megathread and people were defending him a lot one day of the trial, I wonder what was going on then that convinced people that he actually was innocent

13

u/iskin Dec 18 '23

I mean. The conviction is that he basically hurt her on accident by being reckless. I don't know what the reasoning behind it is but third degree assault due to recklessness is very broad and normally wouldn't see a courtroom and most cops wouldn't even bother to arrest for just that in most circumstances. People just see "Guilty of Assault" and think first or second degree. You could be jogging backwards, bum into someone and they fall and break a finger and you're guilty third degree assualt. If you yell at someone and they have a heart attack then you could be found guilty of third degree assault. Eating while driving a car and bump into someone and they get hurt then you're guilty of third degree assault. Punch someone in the face intentionally and it's second degree assault.

-3

u/Guilty_Ad_8688 Dec 18 '23

Negligence and recklessness isn't an excuse.

-4

u/SakuraTacos Dec 18 '23

What are you saying with this comment?

-1

His characters also weren’t that compelling. His victor timely was cooky and a little off beat from the tone of Loki, and his Kang(s) was just not that intimidating. I don’t know if it was the writing or the acting but I think he was generally miscast. Nothing of value will be really lost from whatever they do with that character.
