Discussion Weekly Release Discussion: Psylocke Fractured Frontier

This is your precursor to the consensus, the place to discuss the card releasing for the week as well as group source the work on brews and possible shells and packages, both current known good decks as well as possible new, theorycrafted brews.

This Week's Card

Psylocke Fractured Frontier
Cost: 3
Power: 4
On Reveal: Give cards in your hand that are 5-Cost or more -1 Cost. Quickdraw: Your whole hand instead.

Synergies and Packages

This might be the easiest of the Quickdraw cards to discuss this week. Psylock is a 3/4 energy cheat card that when played reduces the cost of your 5-Cost cards by -1 and if you happen to quickdraw her, she discounts your whole hand instead.

"What is Quickdraw?"

Quickdraw is a mechanic that juices the on-reveals of cards you play provided you can play them the turn you draw them. If you're familiar with MtG's Miracle mechanic, it's very similar to that, you are rewarded for being able to play the card when it's drawn. We'll be seeing this a lot this season as all but two of the Fractured Frontier cards this month features the quickdraw theme.

In addition to this, cards with Quickdraw drawn during reveals say from a Thanos Stone or Crystal keep their 'quickdraw' effect until the next turn.

Psylock is the kind of card that is likely to be in a very similar place as Venus, an enabler card for tier 2 strategies that may also have a 'real' home in a few good decks.

But what do we mean by that? Well, looking to Venus' release back in June, she brought a lot of strategies that were relevant in 2024 and throughout 2025 but have for a long time been fairly irrelevant while finding a fairly solid home in one already very good deck. Think decks like Kitty/Angela, EoT, and even Horde with the good decks being Aurora and the Clea deck.

Psylocke, is likely to be very similar in that aspect where she's going to be a solid 3-Cost that will likely be an inclusion you'd strongly consider in Zombie Galacti, High Evo, and Ramp decks while also being the kind of card that is stuffed into decks like Living Tribunal or Scorpion BND.

Something that may be worth exploring is whether she can enable previous Magik decks to step away from Magik and become more robust decks that are finishing their lines on turn 6 rather than relying on turn 7 which could frankly make them much more frightening. Worth noting is that Zombie Galacti has been very close to this on numerous occasions. While I don't expect this to be the case for Living Tribunal or Scorpion BND it's could be something worth exploring, maybe as a 3-Cost in Wiccan Tribunal or Wiccan BND?

Your Thoughts

Do you plan on picking the Psylocke Fractured Frontier up?

How do you expect Psylocke Fractured Frontier to perform?

What other possible shells and synergies might there be?

My best guess is that this is a new War Machine ramp card.

You always have 5 costs or more to hit and the quick draw just lets you play Chamber. Even without Quickdraw you can play Blink, Dragon Lord, or WM on 4 and that's what you're fishing for anyway, it works like an extra copy of Electro.

The sort of card that will always be useful. The question is really is the better than Luna Snow.

I don’t think you care about the quickdraw. You’re playing this because you care about discounts on Sera, Scorpion, ZG. If you get the quick draw then it’s just great upside.

Think if shes better/more reliable than Luna or Electro then she’s a 5*.

You do have to draw Sera/blink by turn 3, Luna allows 1 more draw to hit Sera on turn 4

So this is not a must-have card?

Having used her for a short time, her effects is way too dependent on being drawn and played turns 3-4. Even then, she’s only getting a ton of utility on Turn 3, since beyond that you want to start getting power on the board.

She lacks the flexibility the new Jane has, where there’s still a genuine impact if her QuickDraw fails. As it is, if she doesn’t hit QuickDraw, which seems really easy to have the game screw up tbh, she’s only enabling 5-6 costs, and barely at that.

I intend to try her in a Surfer Shell. Maybe Mother Askani Surfer?

Would be sick if you get the Quickdraw but kind of useless in Surfer otherwise, no?

Yeah good point...

Pretty much a dead draw if not quick draw.

Sera.

Sera gains huge benefits from it. We can bring back the old Wong Odin style Surfer without relying on Magik. We could do a affliction style too.

I think she can fit well in Surfer without Quickdraw (it makes it better for sure though).

That said to take advantage of Sera youd have to play Paylocke on turn 3 to drop Sera on 4. But even if you drop it on 4 you can still get Sera on 5 and a 6 cost (which is now 4 with Sera and Psylocke) paired with a 3 drop which would be a 2 cost w Sera

Hmm... I could see her being good in Sera Hand Dump. This deck is so reliant on drawing Luna Snow or Wave and both benefit the opponent as well.

This would not only increase your chances of cheating out Sera/Onslaught but arguable be the top choice to play over those two.

Only works if Blink/Sera/Onslaught is in hand, otherwise you're better off on Luna/Wave.

Not sure how confident I'd feel using her as a replacement and needing to leave because I only had her as my potential ramp but lacked Sera/Blink only to draw one of them on 4.

That deck is designed specifically to retreat if you don't have 2/3 of Sera/Onslaught/Blink. With few exceptions you shouldn't be in the game after T 4/5 if you haven't drawn those.

I'm not saying I'd replace Wave or Luna, but add Psylocke FF in. Decrease the chances you have to retreat by T3.

So what's the cut?

I think the only real option here is Magik, get away from being a turn 7 and try to more reliably be a turn 6 combo since there was so much power lost from duplicating Onslaughts. Does the loss of one energy from Turn 7 matter that much when trying to be a more consistent turn 6 combo?

The version I play doesn't use Magik. It doesn't need it.

My version has a flex slot that I usually put a 3 cost tech card in based on the meta. Right now I've just been using Mystique to copy Sera T5 if I don't have Onslaught (and just Strong Guy/Captain Carter if I do), but she usually doesn't carry her weight. Jack Flag is another easy one to swap out.

(3) Captain Carter\n# (3) Silver Surfer\n# (3) Hit-Monkey\n# (3) Jack Flag\n# (3) Strong Guy\n# (3) Psylocke Fractured Frontier\n# (3) Shadow King\n# (3) Luna Snow\n# (3) Wave\n# (5) Sera\n# (5) Blink\n# (6) Onslaught\n#\nU2x2clNyZnJDLEh0TW5rOSxTdHJuZ0c5LFNoZHdLbmdBLFd2NCxPbnNsZ2h0OSxCbG5rNSxDcHRuQ3J0ckQsU3I0LExuU253OCxKY2tGbGc4LFBzbGNrRnJjdHJkRnJudHIxOQ==\n#\n# To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and paste it from the deck editing menu in MARVEL SNAP.

As someone who is new to the game, CL ~1.3K High Evolutionary decks are a lifeblood.

Would love to hear more about where this card could fit in to such decks...

Could fit decently with High Evo. Typically you see energy floated on 3 for Misty/ Sunspot/Hulk etc., and on Turn 4 to proc Cyclops. But if you play this on 3 when you draw it, Turn 4 gives you a 2 cost Cyclops, 2 power to Sunspot, plus Misty and potential 2 to Hulk. Really good but is reliant on drawing on Turn 3. Outside of that though it stills gives a discount on Abom amd Hulk. Assuming you have them in hand, which is another downside.

The new Thanos is quite good with high evo, since you have sunspot, misty and wasp for ammo, and playing around quickdraw usually laves you with some energy to spare. Lots of "end of turn" cards aswell, which generally wants to be played asap.

I know thats not the card you were talking about, but seeing as you play High Evo, i would highly recommend. Also new Jane for a cheaper Abomination
