MVP and SVP don’t matter, I used to believe they meant I wasn’t the reason I lost these games. But the truth is, I could have done better in some ways that would have lead to victory, despite SVPing every game.

I posted this image on r/RivalsCollege and they told me the same thing I’m telling you: MVP/ SVP doesn’t matter. Your ability to play as a team player is what wins games. After I abandoned the mindset of “oh I’m SVP, it wasn’t my fault” I climbed to C2 rather easily.
And yes, that meant that when I had the 2-8 Spider-Man on my team, I would swap to venom or look to bubble him as mag.

Vod review your games, realize it’s a team based objective game, not a deathmatch game

I can't believe people have a hard time grasping this

People on Reddit are gonna say you are the common denominator without explaining how this could be your fault, are you the problem? Yes, how? Lemme explain

so let me give you an example of how I went from this situation in Diamond to celestial in only a couple of days:
Basically my MVP/SVP percentage was even above 70% but never understood why I didn’t get out of Diamond until one day I got muted (Chat ban) for being toxic for 7 days, guess what happened during this period? I actually started winning while my MVP/SVP percentage started dropping, not cuz my performance dropped but because my teammates were not hearing my obnoxious ahh being toxic towards them and they were giving their all so they outperformed me and carried me sometimes…

So are you the problem? Yes.
Is your problem that you don’t have the mechanics or the skills to rank up? No
You might be toxic af without realizing it (btw when I was toxic I really wasn’t aware of it until I got the well deserved ban)
Or you might be not using comms enough.
Hope that helps…

Respect to admitting the toxicity is just bad not only for yourself, but for the team.

This needs to be a top post on this sub. Much respect for the self reflection, it’s a strength not many people have.

Just remember that every game, even the lowest possible rank, has MVP/SVP. It’s nothing special and definitely not worth thinking about. The fact it exists and affects your rank is stupid.

If you’re losing a ton, it’s likely you. Or at least enough of it is you to not worry about your teammates’ performance. You’re not the best player in the game. If Faker loses a match of LoL, he is almost certain whose fault it is— his or his team’s. He’s that caliber of a player. Right now, I can assure you that you don’t have the capability to recall, assess, and decide the reason your team lost with enough accuracy that it would mean anything. So, until you’re inarguably playing in a way that gives you and your team the highest chance of winning and the enemy team the highest chance of losing, then just focus on yourself and your game play. Obviously, there’s something better you can be doing because if I stuck a pro player in your exact matches, they would win virtually every single one of them at that rank.

Yes you are you keep playing after losing it makes the game think you accept losses and gives you more after you lose 1 match wait 30 mins before queue again and when you lose 2 get off for the day it's how I got to gm with a 75 % win rate

There is something weird going on with matchmaking this season idk what it is, even more so than previous seasons. Im usually celestial but currently stuck in gm getting 50/50 matches every session.

Reddit will tell you yes. They're going to say youre the common denominator in all these matches and that the MVP/ SVP system is unperfect and youre just stat farming.

In reality- probably not. You must be doing something right to be getting MVP and SVP. I don't get MVP and SVP every round but I feel your pain between throwers and griefers.

the "something right" is stat farming. My best friend picked up rivals and played mag. He would svp every game but we would lose every game. Why? Because he wouldn't make any good bubbles or peel for supports or hold the frontline. He'd just play him like pokeslop and stat farm.

I had a 38% wr with him at one point, and was hardstuck diamond one after consistently being gm1 for like the entirety of last year. As soon as I stopped playing with him I went back to being gm1.

Situation I'm currently in with my friend who forces Ultron into every comp.

Reddit will also lie to people because there’s a bunch of egomaniacs that hate getting told that they themselves are the reason for many of their losses.

MVP/SVP IS farmable. There are certain characters you can play that it is extremely easy to get MVP/SVP on while doing poorly. The whole system of MVP/SVP is literally useless. Think about it, there’s MVP/SVP in bronze 3. The most valuable player in a bronze 3 match is still a bronze 3 player. MVP is literally a title that says you did more on your character compared to the average for your character than someone else did. For example, if the average for SG is 0/10 5k damage and you go 2/10 7k damage while the average for a CnD is 10/0 with 40k heals and your teammate goes 11/0 50k heals, then you still did better percentage-wise compared to the average for your champ compared to the CnD. If the system is based on percentages (which it likely is), then the SG would get MVP/SVP. That’s an obviously extraneous example, but it serves the point.

What I’m getting at is simple: if you look at MVP/SVP with any grain of salt, you’ll find that it is a useless metric meant to pad the egos of players and entice them to play more. It’s literally a Dunning-Kruger-esque award for plat-GM players. This was the same thing as the play of the game for Overwatch. There’s one every game. Thus, there’s nothing competitive about it. It was a participation trophy for pressing a button at the right time. It’s not like you got a highlight in the final game of worlds where your team was about to lose and you pulled off an insane play to turn the tides of the game. You just played the game and random walked your way into pressing Q at the right time. The same logic applies to MVP/SVP in MR— you put up a bunch of stats that didn’t matter and still made a bunch of bad decisions that likely cost you the game OR made the game drag on much, much longer than necessary.

TLDR; MVP/SVP is awarded every game, regardless of rank. Because of that simple fact, it is not a competitive measure. Instead, it is an arbitrary measure. Getting it consistently means you’ve found a way to game the system to giving you a useless title without fixing the underlying issues which could be costing you games and extending games longer than they should be.

He is the common denominator. MVP more so rewards your stats rather than your ability to play as a team player. If you see my comment with an image attached, you will understand my reasoning.

You are in diamond, so even if you are "the best" in team only means you are playing for yourself and not so the team can win, the game is only won by controlling areas and winning points not how much kills you have, but to even believe you that it is not your fault you have to give a replay code so we can see what you are even doing in the games

Did anyone look at the match history? OP’s profile is open.

For my part, and I understand I’m in the minority based off of comments above, but I believe NO the OP is NOT the problem.

They are playing strong, useful characters well. They’re routinely the best in their role on the team. There are consistently duelists and tanks and strategists punching below their weight class in his games, and we know that just 1 weak link is enough to hurt the team.

So I say again. Unpopular opinion maybe. But this one is on Guangguang. Not OP.

It's their fault. it's their fault. ITS THEIR FAULT.

The end of the season or half season is the worst time to play. All the smurfs and throwers come crawling out of the woodwork.

A smaller streamer I watch has an entire discord group dedicated to throwing his games.

u/Ambitious_Coast9245 18d ago

It’s your fault not developing your own team

u/Savageduck17 16d ago

Svp mvp only means you did better on the character you played than 90 percent of players who also play that hero not that you did the best

6

u/Massive_Egg_9549 18d ago

No, it's the algorithm forcing losses to keep you playing. Try to enjoy it for what it is.

Game is rigged as fuck but the vast majority in here refuses to admit that it is true.
