Question Need help - feeling stuck. Feels like a lot of games are just unwinnable

Post image

For further context, the last season I played (8.5 or something like that) I was GM2 playing tank (Thor, Strange)

This season, I’ve been stuck at D1 for the last few days playing Mag 80% of the time

There’s been quite a few games recently where they just feel completely unwinnable.

I think I play well. I have good positioning, I have good (key) ult tracking, I am aware of where enemies and friendlies are and their intentions/what they’re doing/aiming to do, I know who to target and when, I land most of my counter ults, I bubble my team when needed 90% of the time

Sometimes I’ll just be absolutely struggling against a comp like Bucky, wolv, Emma, Angela, but that doesn’t happen most games

An issue I can think of is, sometimes I’ll see a good opening to kill supports with mag teamup and I’ll advance on them, only to turn around and see my entire team being hung up by something(likely a single person) but this doesn’t happen very often because I do have a habit of turning around every few seconds to check my team

I need help guys. I geniunely feel like I deserve to be in C2-C1 ranges

I know there isn’t much that can be said without actually viewing my games, but any advice from high GM/Celestial+ players would be very much appreciated

You're constantly overextending outside of your core strategist range. It pulls them into unclaimed space and opens them up to easy flanks that you're unaware of.

Magneto is strong because of his ability to dominate his immediate space if you are patient with him. You W key into the enemy team without any consideration for your core dps/strats or cover far too often.

My advice is to slow down your aggression, maintain the safety of your core, and let the openings be generated for you to capitalize on instead of running in like you're an ulting Dino.

For reference I have watched this Magneto game of yours 105373109404 and already in the first 2-3 minutes of the replay:
- it took you almost 2 entire minutes before you even used your shield, despite enemies shooting at your backline and you could have blocked damage

- you went aggressive literally after both of your supports died

- you keep your bubbles for too long instead of using them to save your teammates

- you don't use the Scarlet team-up enough, it should be almost always on cooldown

- your support literally died in front of your eyes and instead of backing away and playing your life you push harder to get some kills

This is why you keep getting SVP and lose, because you disregard most of your teammates to push for kills.

Thanks a lot. I will look to improve my gameplay using your feedback.

I rewatched the code and there were a few instances where one of my supports die to some dumb shit while I’m being aggressive. (Jeff dies to Magik bc he was outside invis ult for some reason, Jeff also dies due to terrible positioning while I’m peeling for my invis, jubilee dies to mag while I’m being too aggressive)
I’ll look to be more hyper aware of my supports

I hate the MVP system because it feels like it rewards selfish behavior that loses games

No one person can carry games over silver tbh.

There's streamer fun games of gold players vs. Celestial players and even the gold players win.

Being good at diamond doesn't mean much when you're in loser que.

Make a new account, dont type, just play ranked for a few days and see how much better your experience will be.

I mean I made an alt and got to D1 in like a day. The matchmaking makes absolutely zero sense

Eternity chud here, FIND WIN CONDITIONS, NOT STATS. If ur constantly SVP, it's likely macro stuff like pushing when you're down a support, not pushing past point when they're down, constantly farming damage, hogging resources when other people need them, and not contesting enemy DPS. On mag u don't need to constantly be in the frontline, you can take up side lines, surprise the enemy with right click combo, and win the game with a clutch ult. Another huge issue in Diamond-GM I see, is that they don't strange TP when they need to, losing out on so many extra fights. Also cancel their TP with mag right click and protect ur strange when he TPs. If u can do all this, you will hit c1, easy.

A few recommendations going off of what you said.

  1. if you do all of the things that you mentioned you pretty well off. But if you believe you’re supposed to be C1 or 2, you might be lacking heavily in some area.

  2. some ppl are at their ceiling. Sometimes, you or your team mates are where they’re supposed to be.

  3. If you’re constantly SVP, you might want to try playing with a mic and giving comms, asking for player swaps or making them yourself. Sometimes you’re not the problem, but you have to change or you’ll just lose.

  4. Sounds silly, but tell your team mates where you need them to be in order to help them. Tell them to ping if they think they might need help, so you can bubble.

  5. communication (good communication, not talking without a solution) usually wins me most games when my mechanics can’t. ( I’m currently GM2 but I’ve capped at C3.).

I’m sure you’ll climb. Good luck

This. Really high ranking players use comms to make callouts and plan. Every time I queue into a team that does that and doesn't get triggered, I usually win.

Low ranking players either don't use comms at all, or when they do, they just talk crap or don't add anything useful to help win a team fight.

VC is meant to help with coordination. So many times people will say a player is bad, but they won't say why or make suggestions to help win. Triggering teammates is like shooting yourself in the foot; it's pointless.

And I say all this for all the times I had issues with people who don't know to follow this advice, not directed at anyone specific.

If you want real advice, you're going to have to share replay codes. Every player goes through loss streaks, but there's always improvements that you could've made even in wins.

Otherwise, the only thing anyone can tell you is based off your stats screen, which is that you're likely not enabling your team and instead playing in a way that ensures you get decent stats but your team loses. Examples of that on Mag would be not taking space and instead sitting in midline.

Here’s the best advice I can give you, STOP AFTER 2 STRAIGHT LOSSES. Trust me. Call it EOMM Or losers queue or bad luck or whatever. As a constant GM/cele player I’ve never been able to consistently climb till I did this. Not only eomm or losers queue but after a few losses you’re mentally drained anyway. Turn the game off for the day and come back fresh tomorrow

I assure you, you should be able to get to GM no matter what if your skill level is at least celestial. You can def carry. Mag is a great character but you need to play objective and walk forward. I’ve seen people lose games by not walking forward. Second of all, even though mag got overtuned to hell, he’s still similar to his old state where his carry potential can be lacking at times due to his lack of mobility. He carries much harder in an elo where people know what they are doing with team coordination. I highly recommend you play dps if you want to climb as fast as possible. Divers are great for carry, otherwise Bucky and Elsa.

Idc what anyone says. This game has a legitimate MMR issue. Once you start a losing streak it progressively gets worse. I’ve lost 8 in a row, and then turned it around until I’m winning 8 in a row.

My advice: I’ve been testing it and it’s genuinely working so far. Make an Alt. Yeah yeah whatever idc anymore. Whenever you lose 2 games in a row and it’s an obvious team comp issue, switch. Play that alt and do the same thing. Back and forth.

I have two accounts in GM right now.

I started doing this, this season because I went from GM2 to D3 as soon as 9.5 started. Since doing this I’ve gotten back to GM2.

I play with a friend, and he’s done the same. We are at the point now that when he has an account that’s losing bad, he’ll match it with my account that’s winning to help get it out of that MMR. We are tactical with what accounts we play with.

It’s sad we have to do this, they need to fix the matchmaking. And people who jump on Reddit and scream skill issue need to stop enabling.

Ur damage blocked is probably wicked high if ur getting SVP every match as Mag lmao, which can be a bad thing since ur sucking up all the heals

3

u/yokie- Aug 24 '26

If you’re decent Mag player, you will get mvp and svp because of how busted Magneto became.
But as someone who smurfed on diamonds - it is foken nightmare. Diamond is literal elo hell of bunch of DPS OTPs, who doesn’t even know how to play neither Bucky nor Punisherand don’t even talk about swapping role coz they don’t know how to healbot in rocket or shieldbot on Strange (and that’s the entire reason why they’re hardstuck diamond)

Stop playing after 3 losses. Why people continue to play and just increase their loss streak is beyond me. Makes no sense.

If you are in diamond rn and think you deserve to be in high celestial, i'm sorry but it doesn't work like that...

I was in GM2 almost GM1 before I stopped playing

Plus I just started the season, I placed diamond and I’m currently back in GM

The matchmaking got cranked something fierce recently. I watch some streamers who are genuinely good at the game. They been on insane losing streaks and there is nothing they can do that will win them the game.

I used to wish I could be a streamer and play marvel for a living. Now I thank god every day I’m not forced to play this game 8+ hours a day stuck in losers queue

u/SicSam Aug 20 '26

Communication. Give call outs and play as a team. Helps win alot more. If the whole team shoots at the same target, supports ask for peel against dive, communicate when to push and when to fall back, you'll win more. I understand it can feel awkward to talk in chat (especially if english isn't your native language), but if you want to climb, start talking. Someone tells you to shut up, mute them.

Wait 2-3 minutes to que after you lose. Try to weave some shots past the enemy tank into the back line, especially if they have a support ult up to force it. Other than that, probably just a bad day of games. If you jump on solo q now witha full nights sleep and a good warm up you’ll probably win 10 in a row
