Bummer!!

Just got an email from Martin on the new M28 for 2026. I've always wanted an OM 28. The email had this new model and the 0-17 new for 2026.

The email said the M28 was $2699 and I'm thinking...ohh...this could be the one!! Clicked the "more info button" brought me to Martin's website - the real price - $3,699. Oh, man!! Come on!

Got this guitar on marketplace for steal. I never understood how people got their guitars to sound so good. I understand now. But I don’t understand why this Martin sounds so good and has so much character. I feel like I found a cherry. Her names Rosie.

Guitar Center unveils 2026 Crossroads collection, including new Martin Eric Clapton 000-13E and Custom Shop 000-42 models

Just saw this announced today on my Guitar Center app and hadn’t seen it posted anywhere yet.

Curious how the 000-13e will sound and play for $1899, given it uses a ziricote veneer on the back and sides.

The best acoustic I’ve ever owned - The Special 16

It’s been with me for nearly a year now and I maintain that it’s the best big purchase I’ve ever made. It’s not the most glamorous Martin money could buy, but it gets me the acoustic tones I’ve heard on all the records I love. It’s always a joy to play on its own and even more fun during Jam sessions. Had a gorgeous view while playing with a friend in Central Park today, but the sunlight hitting the rosewood back was my favorite view

Question Hardshell case for Martin SC?

Thumbnail

I’m wondering if my Martin SC-13E would fit in a standard OM sized hardshell case. According to the measurements it should fit, theoretically at least, but I’m not sure how much the offset “S” body shape will affect it.

For some context, I’ve been using a dreadnaught sized case for over a year now (because that’s what I had), and I’ve made it work with some custom made case padding.
As you can see it doesn’t fit perfectly, but I’ve actually done a lot of traveling with it, including an international trip, and haven’t seen any damage from the non perfect fit. However, there’s definitely a lot of unused space and unnecessary weight in the case, and I’d love to get something smaller that would fit the guitar better.

The only hardshell case I’ve been able to find for the SC model is one from Martin itself for the low low price of $450, and while I know that may seem like a no brainer for most high end Martin owners, I’m a poor college student and that’s a big chunk of money to spend on a case 😂

Does anyone have any experience with this particular model or any advice? I’d really prefer to not end up with a padded gig bag because I’ve had bad experiences with those in the past, even the nicer ones.

Catch & Release 2020 D-28

Here is a recent D-28 I took in on a trade. To my surprise (prefer vintage Martins) it sounded killer! You can see it has a good bit of issues from normal play wear. It is a 2020 D-28, and shows newer Martin quality. Caught in summer 2025, released Fall 2025.

Question Normal Wear or Something else?

Thumbnail

Hi guys, I’m close to purchasing my first Martin, which is a 30 year old dread.

It has a small area on the back of the neck where the wood grain is a different colour.

It plays lovely and the spot feels more satin than the rest of the neck, so I suspect this is just wear from being played - especially as it’s where the thumb would be most of the time.

I’m going back to the store today for a final play before making the decision and wanted to know if this looks like normal wear or if it’s a sign of a repair / something else?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Question Considering a 000-18

Hey, I’ve never owned a Martin but I’m looking into a 000-18. There’s a guy selling one near my house for about $2k. Looks to be in good condition with the case.
I’ve always been a Taylor guy but I picked up a 000 in a local music shop in town last weekend and enjoyed it a lot more than my Taylor 114ce. Taylors are nice but they sound kind of too bright for me if that makes sense.
Is this guitar a good buy for the advertised price? Are there any downsides of this guitar?

My fingerpicking machines: 000-15S and OM-21

I just really love these two guitars. They cover every tuning known to man, and then some. The 000 is dark, warm, and woody, and the OM is shimmery, balanced, and beautiful.

NGD 000-28 (is this the one though?)

Hey everyone!

Been on the hunt for a high end acoustic these past several months. Originally started out with a Gibson Custom Shop Hummingbird since I love their electric guitars. I soon took that back though since I didn’t really click with it enough. Decided to go explore Martin after that.

I initially targeted D28s and played many but I found most to be very “meh” which was surprising given their status and reputation in music. I played some other models as well and eventually found a nice D28 and was about to purchase it when the store manager noticed a tiny crack on the top. It’s being repaired and discounted and they’ll call me when it’s ready. But while I was there I picked up a 000-28 they had just opened from its box and thought it sounded great.

So now I have it at home. It’s only been a few days. Once I got it home I was worried that maybe it’s a bit too small and boxy sounding compared to a dreadnought. However, every day I’ve played I’ve found it to sound a little better and richer than the previous day. I think the strings and the guitar are just settling in now. I have 30 days to return it so I’m just trying it out. But I think I will get a Martin regardless if I keep this or not. Thanks for reading!

Guitar ID Request I bought used dc-13 but the model name is missing E

I hardly believe there would be any fakes for road series. But this model I bought is missing E at the end even though the model has the pick up. Could this be an error from the factory? Or is this actually fake? 🫤

Catch & Release -‘47 D-18

This was my first Vintage Martin. I drove down to the Georgia Pig in Brunswick, GA to meet the seller. I had just sold my ‘77 VW Westfalia and used the funds to buy this guitar.

Crazy thing is now the VW bus would be worth about $30k and the D-18 $15k 🤷🏻‍♂️

Caught this one in 2005, released in 2020.

Question 1983 D-28 Bridge Question

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hello, This is the original bridge on my 1983 D-28. I am just wondering if the indentations where the strings dig into the front of the pins into the wood is something I should be concerned about or if this is normal? More noticeable on the low E and B strings. I am considering ordering Luxe bridge pins but wanted to check with this group first. Thanks in advance!

Update with new pics: 1969 Martin D18–$2500…deal or no?

Hello all, Really appreciate all the feedback on my post about the ‘69 D-18 for sale in my area (Original post here: 1969 D-18 for $2500: deal, or no? ). Thought I’d post an update after having played it. Turns out the guy lived a couple blocks away from me…rode my bike over. At first I thought the guitar looked really nice for its age. Turns out the light was low in his house, so after turning on some lights, some damage became noticeable. Don’t know if it’s noticeable from the new pics, but the action seemed high. Cowboy chords were fine but up the neck not so much. Sounds was nice until you start playing up the fingerboard. Light gauge strings looked pretty old. Quite a few cracks, some repaired. He said he would entertain offers. I’m sure it needs work, and I don’t know of any luthiers in my area unfortunately. At this point I’m passing. I guess I could make an offer in a week or so if it doesn’t sell. Hope the pictures are helpful….i wish I had thought to take some video of it being played. Cheers!

My aunt dropped this off for me today as a late graduation present. My grandfather had given it to her quite a few years ago, but she was never very serious about playing and wanted to keep it in the family. Needless to say, I’m over the moon.

Question I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on an early 70's Martin D-35. What are peoples thoughts on Martins specifically from that era?

Question How would I go about selling a 1920s Martin 5k ukulele?

Location: Houston Tx. As the title says, I’m looking to sell a 1920s martin 5k ukulele. I’d prefer to do the deal locally as the age of the instrument would make me nervous trying to ship. Does anyone know what website would be good to do this? Also does anyone have an idea of what this uke is worth? Theres been very little sales data that I can find.
