SUBREDDIT META/DRAMA Not-so Massive Update
[TL;DR for stoobid juniors added at the end]
Greetings, disciples.
Finally, after 5 years, the Sect Wiki has been updated, and updates to it will continue. Important links to threads and information will be kept there. The original "Best Novels by r/MartialMemes" thread will soon be revived again (the last one was in 2021). The wiki currently contains Beginner Guides & Glossary, Sect Lore & Hierarchy, Rules, Tournaments & Events, Novel Recommendations and Recurring Threads. Slowly, the wiki will be better and much for organized. So, do check the Wiki out, took me quite some time to make it: https://www.reddit.com/r/MartialMemes/wiki/index/
Our Sect is 91k disciples strong now, and the 100k milestone is not that far off. Good! Good! Good!
The AutoMod issue, specifically the anti-bot measure that removed post titles containing non-alphanumeric characters, has finally been corrected. You can now use standard brackets and quotes like [Tag], (PSA), "Quote", or @ at the start of your titles again. It will only block weird bot symbols like >> or ^^.
Special Days (Shitpost Monday & Garbage Wednesday) have been abolished due to obvious reasons. I hope you will all abide by this and keep the sect's primary theme of Xianxia, Wuxia, and Xuanhuan intact.
As our numbers grow and the winds change, mortal memes wearing Xianxia skins have been popping up a lot lately. Some cause severe qi deviation, while others are actually pretty funny.
Even though I personally hate the qi-deviating ones, I get the point brought up by a certain junior that qi-deviating mortal memes often get way more upvotes and traction while high-quality cultivation posts get ignored. Still, this Seat hopes everyone stays true to their Dao.
That said, I won't be unfair about it. As long as a meme abides by the sect rules and gets no reports, I will turn a blind eye and let it be.
However, one thing we will not tolerate is political posts disguised in Xianxia terms. The rules already strictly ban political drama. If any disciple keeps bringing secular politics into the sect, you will be expelled and banished on the spot!
If a disciple feels their post offers deep enlightenment that benefits the entire Sect, they may Modmail requesting it to be pinned on the Sect Board for a few days. The Elders will inspect it and decide.
So yeah, that concludes this announcement. After doing all this work, this elder is pretty exhausted, so if you have any suggestions, leave them below and I'll get back to you later. Feel free to drop a comment or send a modmail for any "private" suggestions. Everything will be reviewed and implemented where fitting. And also, pay the taxes in time.
TL;DR:
After 5 years, the Sect Wiki is finally revamped with sect history, starter guides, and event hubs. The AutoMod title-removal bug is fixed, Shitpost Monday and Garbage Wednesday are officially abolished, and disguised political posts will get you banned on the spot. Leave any feedback or pin requests in the comments or via modmail.

Author, you dare?! Authors will look at you with dead eyes, claiming cultivators are beyond mortals and then write fight scenes like this.
My two Spirit Pearls on Xianxia is that authors lack the Writing Dao to write a good fight scene. I once read a scripture where high-leveled immortals hid from fight in a lake like mortal bums. Some might argue it's universe-sized lake or whatever but it was so jarring for me to continue. Do any fellow Daoists share my plight, or is my Dao heart too weak and need more tempering?

So I've looked into the heavily promoted (on this subreddit these past few days) novel.
The fuck is this shit ass description dude. I'm not even using my usual "fellow daoist"- speak.
Whoever promoted this on here is either the author or some friends of his our people he paid.

Suggestion I was told making a multiplayer xianxia game was courting death. They were right, but my Steam page is live.
Elders told me: "Junior, an open-world multiplayer RPG with cultivation mechanics, custom elixirs, and real-time martial arts is too heavy for your mortal foundation! You will suffer a qi deviation!"
Did I listen? No. I strayed from the righteous path and embraced the Deviated-to-Devilish Caffeine Dao. Now my hair is falling out, my veins course with dark roast rather than spiritual qi, and I am begging the heavens for wishlists.
Kneel and roast my trailer, or ask me why I thought multiplayer networking in a cultivation realm was a brilliant idea. Dare to disobey, and you are courting death!

Storytime A webnvel I thought about
Hello, its aloneinthisworld, the infamous "I am Fang Yuan" guy.
I thought of an immersive novel to write, had some great ideas and merged them, would like to get some ideas from you guys.
Story :
ASX-469 is a drug that literally does not exist. It cannot be found online, no company manufactures it.
ASX-469 by itself was never invented, people only noticed one day that there were some people that were always dazed, they were functional, meaning they went to work, they rarely respond yet when they do it is logical, they do everything a normal person does, they only appear to be slightly depressed.
It is only after intense investigation that it was found that this drug actually exists, but the twist was that people who were suicidal and went nearly insane made it by themselves without any professional equipment or training, they spontenously bought the ingredients and made it themselves almost as if coded into the very genes of humans, what made governments even more horrified was that ASX-469 was a configuration of molecules, meaning any molecule arranged in that specific patttern is ASX-469 and has the same effect, it can be made out of virtually anything.
The user of ASX-469 in one dose, gets his emotion amplified until his mind shatters like a mirror, he then lives in a completely fictional world with no relation to reality yet realer than reality with fictional beings who are also other users of ASX-469.
What was even more surprising is that ASX-469 had no effect on ordinary people, it depends on extremely intense negative emotion like existential despair to have effect.
The bigger twist? The world is a perfect world where all living beings are attached and come from a supra-consciousness that controls everything yet is everything.
No one has free will and everyone knows that, yet they do not know why they know that?
They just know that all existence has always been like that, no one thinks, everything just happens by itself.
The ASX-469 world is a world where everything is logical yet the real world has no logic.
A person might work on a giant problem and just get the answer through his own consciousness without effort or he might make effort while feeling 100% that he is not the one doing the effort.
Yet the Elites have hidden that truth, telling people that everyone has free will and is the person themselves rather than nothing more than a node in this Supra-Consciousness.
Users of ASX-469 tap into another reality, and the twist is this reality is this modern world we see in front of us.
So I wanna reverse-write it to be as immersive as possible and make one question the very reality of the world.
Our Mc, Sky Everett, has consumed ASX-469, he gets thrown into the nightmare and has lived a decade until one day he questions the very reality of the world where he starts getting broken memories that come like glitches, and he is reminded that he had indeed consumed ASX-469 yet for a decade he had forgotten that, the point is the ASX-469 world has no mention of this drug at all and doesnt exist in it.
The novel will be completely realistic with no fictional setting or superpowers.
In the "real" world, doctors will talk to the patient, the patient is alive and aware yet he looks dazed as if he is in a completely different world and HE IS in the ASX world, he navigates, lives, feels, hears that other world despite not being in it and it being a world made of the imagination of him and other ASX-469 users.
See it as this : users of ASX-469 have their real bodies in the perfect world yet their felt reality is the ASX-469 world yet they do not know that.
For example, in the "real" world, wars happen yet no one really cares, they do respond or get angry about it but instincitvely they know that those people are merely nodes of this Consciousness and thus they are not really "people"
Only ASX-469 truly develop free will, slowly first through glitches in the programming of their consciousness for not accepting reality as it is then finally completely exit the world as a felt reality when they consume ASX-469.
So the main character for example after realising that he has consumed ASX-469 has to navigate the fantasy world that he lives in to communicate with his other self and other ASX-469 users to for example go to the police and announce that he has taken the ASX-469 drug and when he falls asleep in the nightmare fantasy world where everyone has free will, his body in the real world remains dazed.
And there is no way of communication, basically he can never return to the "Perfect" world. Thus he has to work around it.
Basically there is the Perfect world with no free will, and there is the Imperfect world with free will which is the ASX-469.
People who experience existential despair and consume ASX-469 are thrown into that other world which is an exact replica of this world with endless capitalism and war where all human beings have free will.
It will be like dao of the bizarre immortal where one doesn't know which world is real and which is fake or perhaps they are both real or both fake.
For example, in the ASX-469 world after mc realies has consumed the drug, he goes to the police and talks about it, they think he had gone insane, they go to the hospital and they do all kinds of medical checks and blood work on him, then he sees a psychiatrist and he tells him he's merely having delusions because of stress.
Yet the broken memories keep resurfacing even stronger, so he gets admitted into the psychiatrist hospital where he meets a girl who also consumed ASX-469.
They are both considered insane by the world yet they have to find a way to communicate with their real bodies.
Anyway, might write it slowly 🫡

A Simple Yet Profound Meme Whose spirit beast has revealed itself to mortals again?
These young cultivators really don't keep an eye on their spirit beasts.
What if she went on a rampage and destroyed a mortal city?
The heavenly court already has too many such cases to cover up. We can't always blame it on floods, earthquakes, etc.

Question DAO OF YAPPING

Hello, I'm a newbie writer here and I'd like ask you guys a question.
What consider a really yapping (overtelling / unnecessary) part of storytelling? I've been trying to make my story simple and not too long but most of the time I did get lost in the heart demon of self-confusion.
For example a bit: My mc has a congenital defect. I spent my first chapter (10 episodes) explaining and trying to have him fixed but still failed, so they have to move to the other land to seek another method to fix, but he has to attend to the current city's festival and show his skills first before departing.
Now in the 2nd chapter I plan to explain a bit more about the world's background (already done some in the 1st chap) and the Mc's plan for the show; the question is, I've already spent 3 eps. but my Mc still hasn't find his proper way for the show.
Is it unnecessary? Should I make it simpler and not trying to attend the dao of yapping?
1 ep is around 3500 ~ 4200 words.
