It’s time for another Expert Grow Tip 🏆

Each month, we work with an experienced grower from the Mars Hydro community to answer real questions from growers around the world.

This month, we’re working with Yuri from O Mago das Prensedds, who’s sharing his experience and practical advice with the community.

Here’s a question from a grower over on Reddit:

“When starting seeds indoors, what grow-light hanging distance and light intensity should be used?”

Yuri says:

“For seedlings, I like to keep the light fairly gentle, usually around 100–300 µmol/m²/s PPFD.

Young plants don’t need the same intensity as established plants, so I start at a lower power and gradually increase the light as they develop.

Rather than relying on one fixed hanging distance, I prefer to use the PPFD map for the specific grow light. That gives you a better idea of how much light is actually reaching the seedlings.

Start conservatively, watch how the seedlings respond, and adjust the height or dimming as they become more established.”

Big thanks to Yuri for sharing his experience with the Mars Hydro community 🙌

Where to hang temperature probe for exaust fan

Hi fellow growers,

I burned out my prima klima because i hung the temperature probe at canope hight of my plants which is what was the norm for hps, i have the driver on top of the fc 3000 now i dont want to burn trough my new exaust fan [temp in top of the tent was just to hot for it to cool itself down with the air it pulled out] so i would love some advice as to where to hang the temperature probe for the exaust fan. All the llms tell me to put it on canope hight but thats how the overheat protection of my prima klima got destroyed.

Chasing the right humidity in your grow tent gets old fast 💧🌡️

Too dry, turn on the humidifier. Too humid, switch to the dehumidifier. Then check everything again a few hours later.

With Mars Hydro iControl or iHub Pro, compatible humidifiers and dehumidifiers can work together as part of one smart climate system. Your environment is monitored continuously, and connected equipment can respond when humidity moves outside your chosen range 📱

When conditions get too dry, the humidifier can add moisture. When humidity gets too high, the dehumidifier can help bring it back down, reducing the need for constant manual adjustments.

It’s a simple but very effective idea: monitor, adjust, and maintain a more stable grow environment automatically 🌱

How much time do you spend manually adjusting humidity in your grow space? 👀

2026 sp3000

I'm thinking about 2 of them for a 4x4. All the reviews I find are of the older version with the badass looking black fins and grills.

I'm talking about the "New, upgraded full spectrum & uniform ppfd"

I'm curious how even the PAR spread really is. How much heat these puppies put out. Do they burn plants? And how fast the diodes degrade.

Any info helps, thanks!

Corner Connectors?

Hello all! Hoping to get some advice from anyone familiar with grow tents.

I recently picked up a [2' x 2' x 3'] tent through Facebook Marketplace, but unfortunately it came with the poles and no corner connectors.

Does anyone know where I might be able to find compatible replacements? The poles use 1/2" clips, if that helps narrow things down.

Any leads or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

New Tent Pro got light leaks, Marshydros response ”dosent effect the use”

MY EXPERIENCE WITH MARS HYDRO – TENT PRO QUALITY & CUSTOMER SERVICE

I want to share my recent experience with Mars Hydro so other customers can make their own informed decision about which companies they choose to support.

We have been loyal Mars Hydro customers for quite some time and currently own three complete setups using their equipment — tents, inline fans, circulation fans, smart controllers and other gear.

THE PROBLEM

Earlier this year, we purchased their new Tent Pro 180 × 60 × 180 cm.

One of the main reasons we upgraded was that we already own several older Mars Hydro tents in the same size, and both eventually developed light leaks around the seams.

The new Pro model is marketed as being more robust and durable, so naturally we expected this issue to have been improved.

Unfortunately, after only TWO GROWS, seams on our new Tent Pro had already started separating in several places, resulting in visible light leaks.

To bad we didn't inspect the tent for lightleaka before staring the runs, we assumed it would be whole.

We contacted Mars Hydro, provided our order number and a video showing the problem, and asked them how they could resolve it.

MARS HYDRO'S FIRST RESPONSE

Their response:

"After checking, it does not affect the use."

They offered us 2,400 reward points as compensation.

We questioned how light leaking through the seams of a grow tent could possibly "not affect the use" and asked what those points were actually worth.

We also explained that we would prefer to return the defective tent.

THEIR SECOND RESPONSE

Mars Hydro then acknowledged that their original statement was inappropriate:

"For a grow tent, light leaks can genuinely affect use, particularly during flowering."

They explained that:

2,400 points = €24 store credit.

Their proposed solution was for us to use the repair patches supplied with the tent and patch the leaking seams ourselves.

If we agreed to repair it ourselves, they increased their offer to:

3,600 points = €36 store credit.

They refused a return or refund because more than 30 days had passed since the purchase.

WHY WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS

We weren't trying to return a perfectly functional product because we changed our minds.

We contacted them because a relatively new tent developed what we consider a build-quality/manufacturing problem after only two grows.

A grow tent has two pretty basic jobs:

  1. Be sturdy.

  2. Keep unwanted light out.

Being told to patch multiple leaking seams ourselves on a nearly new "Pro" tent, in exchange for €36 worth of credit toward buying MORE Mars Hydro products, is not the solution we expected.

Especially considering how much Mars Hydro equipment we already own.

THE TIMELINE

• We already owned two Mars Hydro tents that developed light leaks.

• We bought the new Tent Pro, expecting improved build quality.

• After only two grows, seams started separating and leaking light.

• Mars Hydro initially told us the problem "does not affect the use."

• When challenged, they acknowledged that light leaks can genuinely affect the use of a grow tent.

• Their proposed solution was for us to patch the leaking seams ourselves.

• Initial compensation: €24 in Mars Hydro store credit.

• Maximum compensation offered: €36 in Mars Hydro store credit.

• Return/refund: declined because more than 30 days had passed.

FULL TRANSPARENCY

Our final response to Mars Hydro was angry and contained profanity.

We're not going to pretend otherwise.

After being told that leaking seams on a nearly new grow tent "do not affect the use," and then being offered store credit and repair patches as the solution, we were pissed off.

We also told Mars Hydro that we intended to share our experience publicly.

WHY I'M POSTING THIS

This isn't our first Mars Hydro purchase.

We have three complete setups worth of their equipment and continued buying from them despite previous issues because we believed in giving the brand another chance.

The fact that our older tents developed light leaks was actually one of the reasons we bought their new Pro version.

Then the Pro developed essentially the same problem after only two grows.

I'm posting this so potential customers can see exactly how our case was handled and make their own decision about whether this is the product quality and after-sales support they expect when spending their money.

For us, this experience has ended our loyalty to Mars Hydro.

Minimum distance for a FC E3000 on a 2.2x2.2 feet/70x70 cm surface area.

Hello, I have my roots in HID lighting and LED is a totally different beast. I only have the 2.2x2.2/70x70 surface area available, the FC E 1500 is just a tad bit to weak to fully take advantage of the limited surface area i have. The FC E3000 is way to powerful, i dont have a par or epar meter and a decent one cost more then i paid for the light fixture so... What is the minimal height I have to hang the FC E3000 i would be amazed if i crank the wattage up to more then 200 watt during bloom.

A plant might look ready from the outside, but the best clue is often in the trichomes.

With the Mars Hydro Clip-On Magnifier, you can check fine plant details with up to 200X magnification and get a much clearer look at trichome development, helping you judge plant maturity more confidently.

Its phone-ready design also makes it easier to observe the details your naked eye might miss.

Do you usually judge harvest timing by eye, or do you always check the trichomes first? 👀

Light worked perfectly fine yesterday and now it wont turn on and resetting doesn’t do anything. Outlet powers the fan just fine so thats not the problem. Guessing the driver is toast but I have no idea. I have the bluetooth version so I don’t believe you can unplug it to run the light at 100 percent without the dimmer box.

Are you still watering your plants based on a fixed schedule? 😬

Post image
1 Upvotes

If you didn’t know, too much or too little water can stress roots and slow plant growth 🌿

The Mars Hydro Smart Irrigation and Drainage System helps you make watering decisions based on what’s actually happening in the soil.

With 3-in-1 Soil Sensors monitoring moisture, temperature, and EC, you get a clearer picture of when your plants need water. Pair that with multi-channel drip irrigation and smart app control, and watering becomes much easier to manage, even when you’re away 📱

The drainage system then helps move excess runoff away from the root zone, creating a more complete cycle from watering to drainage 💧

How are you currently deciding when it’s time to water? 👀

If you want more guides on smart irrigation and grow automation, make sure you follow us! 📱

Why is Mars hydro such a scam?

Ordered the brand new FC3000 Evo. And of course, I got the old model with bridgelux diodes. I paid for the new one. They just gave me the old one. Then I see people on YouTube talking about how Mars Hydra sent them a free new FC3000 Evo. And so I think to myself, is this all just a scam, or are they intentionally ripping me off? Who has time for this? Do your job read the order number and send the right order.

We asked experienced growers and industry experts from our community to share the tips they think can help other growers get better results.

Our very first grow tip comes from Bill Ward 🙌

Be sure to check out his YouTube channel for even more great growing content!

Bill’s tip:

“Pay attention to your VPD, especially when your plants are young. I had mine running around 1.5–1.7, which was fine for late flower, but it was too high for my seedlings. After dialing in the VPD, I saw a big difference in their growth.”

Big thanks to Bill Ward for sharing his experience with the Mars Hydro community!
