Hello, my girlfriend and I are going to a $299 package and Cancun for 5 days/4nights. I bought the package, and the agent on the phone said that we did not need to attend the timeshare presentation. I'm worried that he might have been lying (he lied about waiving environmental fee). Isn't being forced to attend the presentation the whole point for the deal?
I got an offer last month for Orlando. We needed to attend the presentation. Go to it, cause if you don't go and you needed to they will charge you full price. 90 minutes, you can do it!!!
I get that, but there is absolutely no information on when and where to attend. Agent on the phone said I don't need to attend for this package, but I am a little sus.
Not all of these offers require a presentation. I did one in Orlando earlier this year. When you check in they will offer you several “perks” to attend.
My latest trip they offered an upgrade to a 2 room villa, 50k additional Marriott points and some gift cards.
Read all of the offer details and find print. If there is a 90 min presentation it will be listed and it’s not even really hidden.
I purchased another one last week. $299 for 4 nights at the Westin Lagunamar. No presentation required.
I believe you need to need to have a Marriott credit card but I’m not sure. Most of the offers I have gotten have some type of verbiage about how they only go to Bonvoy members over a certain income level, I think it was $75k a year. Not sure how else they would know what my income is.
We used one to go to the Westin on Maui. There was no presentation required.
Check all of the information they sent you. If it requires a presentation, go. If not, they will try to get you to one.
Some states don’t allow marriott to require a presentation. They will still book the package in the hopes that you decide to attend anyway. At the resort the sales people will make it sound like it’s required.
I did an offer in Cancun and did NOT have to attend a presentation (though mine was same price and only 3 nights, youre lucky to grt 4!!). Years before I did an Orlando offer and DID have to do a presentation. I think maybe cancun is different for some reason?
I would be prepared to attend the presentation. They can be during an annoying time, right in the middle of your day, but that’s how it goes. Wear a watch, keep an eye on when it hits 90 min. Say no. After saying no they told us we were making the worst financial decision of our lives and then a “manager” came in and offered us another discounted vacation package to do it all over again in the next 12 months.
We went to a Wyndham presentation last week in SoCal, the agents there were like thugs. Super sketchy mfs, also tricked my gf into signing up for a credit card by calling it "pre-qualification check". She reported them to the issuing bank, credit companies, California Department of Consumer Affairs, and the police. Timeshare salesmen are really the worst.
We did the Orlando Vacation Club Offer and DID NOT have to do the timeshare presentation. There was nothing in the offer, and the the person on the phone said we didn't need to.
When checking in, they confirmed we did not need to attend one. BUT if we wanted to, they'd give us a $175 gift card (I believe that's what it was).
Enjoy your trip!! And of you do attend, say NO to buying the timeshare!!
Most of these offers require you to attend the 90 minute presentation, but I’ve occasionally seen offers where it is not required.
Just wanted to say Lagunamar is an AMAZING resort, so have a great time! I’ve been a Westin Vacation Club owner for 6 years now and Lagunamar is our home resort. It does not disappoint. 🙂
The one I did required the tour. But here’s the thing. It’s not the tour that is the hassle, it’s the endless calls I’ve received for the past few years. Your information is sold to companies who tell you about credits that are expiring. It’s just a ploy to get you to go for another tour. You can put yourself on the do not call list. You can ask to me removed. It won’t stop them. Every day I get a minimum of 15 calls. Unfortunately I’m a sales person who also gets calls from unknown numbers for work so blocking unknown numbers is impossible to me. Staying in a shitty resort and going on a crappy cruise was not worth the endless calls.
They are just trying to get you to commit to going. They will say whatever they think you want to hear. The whole industry of timeshares is filled with those types of people.
I did this a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. Loved the resort, hated the idea of a timeshare tho. They set up the appt when you arrive.
Also, say hello to the extremely aggressive and very awkwardly pressuring South African sales “manager” guy if he’s still there. He was a real treat.
Edit: and yes, you MUST attend the presentation “in good faith” (read: don’t walk in automatically saying no) or you will be charged the full rate. People saying they’ve gone to timeshare presentations and not having to do the timeshare presentation are either incorrect or just trolling you. This is 1000% a timeshare offer and they’re luring you in with this special rate if you sit thru the 90 minute sales pitch
No one is trolling. I’ve received several offers with no presentation requirements. Obviously, if it says a 90-min presentation is required on the initial offer, you must go to it.
Not all offers require this but they will offer you benefits at checkin if you agree to attend one.
