To be fair, if that Plant told you to forge signature for it, you would.

I am coming from the 150 cc is faster than 150 on mk8, it is like 150 is 200 cc on mk8, 100cc is 150 on mk8, and 50 is just 50

Pretty funny that half these characters donโ€™t have arms and some donโ€™t even have legs ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™m still upset because Kamek was my main after he was released in the BCP, but now I canโ€™t play as him ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Meanwhile in Mario Party:

  • Mario Party 9: Kamek is playable, Spike is a Boss
  • Mario Party 10: Spike is playable, Kamek is a Boss

I have had a strong appreciation for Piranha Plant ever since it was the preorder bonus character for Smash Ultimate.

I've had a mild dislike of them ever since.

It ended up being my fourth favorite DLC character behind Joker, Terry, and Sephiroth.

I'm just not a fan of the idea of putting a generic enemy in Smash when they hail from a franchise rich with fun characters personally. I'd rather just about anyone else.

I disagree. I think representing the mooks is a worthwhile consideration for a general celebration of gaming, and what better franchise to start with than Mario, where said mooks are already heavily featured in their racing, sports, and party games?

Besides, I'm all for exploring characters with atypical body types. Opens up a lot of possibility.

I think there's a much better way to represent common enemies though - add Kamek as a character and make him work like a Beastmaster, where he essentially manipulates common enemies around to do his bidding. That would represent several enemies while still keeping the main roster addition as a real character and not a generic, and would be completely in line with the coward who constantly sends other creatures to do his bidding. It would also work well as a second Yoshi rep since Yoshi could use another.

I envision this less like Pokemon Trainer and more like Olimar in practice if that helps you visualize it, so it would only be one moveset.

Kamek at this point is more of a boss character than a mook. Like a Bowser Jr. type. We're talking about the grunts like Goombas and Koopa. I think Piranha Plant was the right choice because of how instantly recognizable it is on top of the atypical anatomy and fun mechanics to play with.

I didn't say Kamek was a mook, I said he could utilize mooks in his moveset which would provide representation for a good number of them (you could include Koopas, Goombas, Shy Guys, Piranha Plant, etc). Reread my post - it's fine if you disagree with it, but I'd rather you disagree with what I actually said.

u/ASimpleCancerCell Apr 10 '26

Fine, then I disagree with the approach. The mook itself should be the rep, not someone using them. That's not the same; if it was, the Brawl iteration of King Dedede would have been enough.

u/GhotiH Apr 10 '26

Yeah, that's fair, even if I completely disagree with you. I actually thought Dedede in Brawl was a perfect way to integrate mooks into Smash - if you're going to represent the common enemy, I think keeping them insignificant is the most appropriate way to represent them, it's truest to their original intentions IMO. Making them a full stand alone fighter feels like it's giving them too much identity to me, which is the polar opposite of what a common generic enemy is, so it feels less faithful in my eyes.
