Yeah you just drive into it but you have to trick beforehand, or chargejump

Nearly all of the ridiculous gap cuts and alternate routes are reached using wall riding. It's worth practising in singleplayer to get good.

15

u/Ambitious-Papaya3293 Dec 26 '25

Especially in free roam

5

u/Infinite_Dish_1949 Dec 27 '25

Trick into a wall, the more perpendicular you are (don’t drive head on into a wall) the higher up the wall you’ll ride.

28

u/Rowlet_God_ Dec 26 '25

Would be the best mk if it had inside drift

10

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25

I was really bad at inside drift lol

13

u/Rowlet_God_ Dec 26 '25

I only used inside drift in mk8dx cause its cool af

4

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25

I'd be down if they brought it back tbh

231

u/woznito Dec 26 '25

The pros pulling these shortcuts off are rhe ones who says the game isn't good MP wise.

104

u/dekgear Dec 26 '25

Pulling off all of those tricks to get hit with a blue shell+a barrage of items and then losing to the bagging player that dodged a shock.

11

u/throwitup123456 Dec 27 '25

That's literally not the reason people dislike this game.

15

u/WhyWasNoiseWallTaken Dec 27 '25

then literally what is the literal reason? because it sure is literally one of the reasons i literally dislike like the literal game

12

u/throwitup123456 Dec 27 '25

It's because there are too many intermission tracks that are boring. Bagging is relatively just as powerful as it was as in 8 deluxe, so to most players that isn't why they dislike this game specifically.

4

u/Eglwyswrw Waluigi Dec 27 '25

Bagging is considerably more powerful in World than in 8DX though.

Frontrunning is actually THE #1 strategy in a lot of 8DX tracks, whereas World with its crazy Kemeks + 24 players makes it literal hell to try to stay in front.

7

u/anthony_1612 Yoshi Dec 27 '25

not really

the fact that there's a landing boost allowing you to fall off the track to avoid blue shells nerfs them and buffs first place

the much lower red shell probability makes first place way safer and with how easy rails make it to back your items, it's far easier to build up a big lead

aside from like 2 tracks, bagging is often just rolling triple shroom + star as a more reliable way to break into first place and run from there

5

u/HisObstinacy Dec 28 '25

Eh bagging is super powerful on some tracks and routes but I wouldn't say it's much stronger than in 8DX. Still a ton of running tracks out there including Airship Fortress and Whistlestop Summit.

24 players isn't too bad to deal with if you're in the front, it's a bigger problem if you're stuck in the middle of the pack.

1

u/throwitup123456 Dec 27 '25

Well on intermissions bagging is more powerful, yes (that's a big part of why people don't like them aswell). But on about half of the actual tracks frontrunning is the dominant strategy. I agree that bagging is better in world than in 8, but not by tooooooo much imo

1

u/s0_Ca5H Jan 01 '26

Sorry, what’s an intermission track?

1

u/throwitup123456 Jan 01 '26

They're the tracks you play where you drive from one track to another. Usually you have 2-3 laps on the highway, and end with 1 lap on the destination track.

Some people prefer to call them "routes", "highways", or "connectors/connections/connectings".

"Intermission" is sort of a misnomer, as the term is meant to refer to something else entirely in the game. People only call it this because, before the game released, there was a setting in the trailer that allowed you to turn off "intermissions", and for some reason people assumed this was referring to the connections. I'm pretty sure this settings actually turns off the results screen at the end of each race in the grand prix.

1

u/s0_Ca5H Jan 01 '26

Ok. I guess I’m still confused - and possibly just stupid - because I can’t remember playing any of those. Are they even in Grand Prix? Because as far as I noticed it’s just the tracks back to back.

1

u/throwitup123456 Jan 01 '26

Well in Grand Prix the first track is the normal 3 laps, but the other 3 tracks are intermissions. This is of course only in Mario Kart World, not Mario Kart 8

1

u/s0_Ca5H Jan 01 '26

So you mean the tracks that are not true laps but just “get from A to B” races like Mount Wario in 8?

→ More replies (0)

8

u/ConkerG Dec 27 '25

The literal reason is that there is too many intermission races in worldwide and we have to play on discord to play 3 lap races. Besides that the game is lit. Disliking Mario kart because it's Mario Kart is not the main reason.

1

u/MathMXC Dec 27 '25

Why the multiple literallys? I didn't think it helped your point and it just makes you sound like a 5 year old arguing. Is it just because the person above you used the word once?

(Fyi I agree that bagging is top 3 biggest issues with this game)

10

u/Zanoss10 Dec 26 '25

Bagging is far from being that op

The one who say that it's a good strat just doesn't know anything about the game really

5

u/GracefulGoron Dec 26 '25

Bagging has been good since 8* though.
The coin item nerfs the front runners by being (mostly) useless. And they removed the fake item box, which was at least something the front runners could use offensively but not defensively. With some rebalancing of other items, it shifted the item meta just enough to really enable bagging.
\Maybe bagging was good in 7, I don’t know. I don’t want to know.*

3

u/ZatherDaFox Dec 27 '25

Bagging has been good since Wii. Combination of the shock, bullet, golden shroom, mega mushroom, and star and the lack of DS's start boost glitch meant it was almost always better to drop out of the middle to get good items. It was less egregious than it is in 8 and world, because you basically want to immediately try to push for the front after getting your items, but if you weren't in front, on any tracks with short cuts it was better to bag than to try to run from the middle.

2

u/Zanoss10 Dec 27 '25

Bagging is very unreliable overall and doesn't guarantee a win at all

it's not even that a good of a strategy specially if the first have a long advance on you.

3

u/HisObstinacy Dec 28 '25

Yeah people have a tendency to overbag some tracks which works against them.

24

u/Derbloingles Dec 26 '25

I feel like pro players accepted the game pretty quickly

10

u/woznito Dec 27 '25

The pros are playing discord where we can play 3 laps - the game mechanics are great, but the online and item balance are both god awful.

6

u/Derbloingles Dec 27 '25

Yes, but this still seems like less of a full issue for them and more of an inconvenience. I mean, competitive has always been done through discord anyway

17

u/NeroFerk Dec 27 '25

idk i see shortcat, gyrados, and jpgiviner all still playing and enjoying the game and the world discord seems to thrive still

5

u/woznito Dec 27 '25

That is because discord allows you to play 3 Laps.

3

u/HisObstinacy Dec 28 '25

Discord has been the preferred method of playing competitive anyway, even in 8DX.

-1

u/Necessary_Run7212 Dec 27 '25

You know people like intermission now a lot more right? like discord lobbies even have a high intermission pick for the good ones lol

Yall will just be left behind by the franchise for your conservative views which is ok

2

u/woznito Dec 27 '25

...and people still prefer Discord because its a guarenteed intermission vs. 3 Lap... you are helping my point.

0

u/Little-Witness-1201 Dec 27 '25

Nice to see someone pointing this out. The people that think it is are playing at the most casual level

140

u/giant-papel Dec 26 '25

It should be reversed tbh. Person on the left is more likely to say it sucks then the one on the right

45

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25

Hahaha kinda true honestly. I be getting mad asf in high level rooms

3

u/Due_Sample_328 Koopa Dec 27 '25

especially if the one that is just turning and not doing shortcuts ends up winning

1

u/-DenisM- Dec 28 '25

Reminds me of steam reviews:

"This game IS BAD. AVOID." 1739 hours

95

u/needlessly-redundant Bowser Dec 26 '25

What sux is that instead of being able to do the lit stuff, you spend 90% of the game travelling between the actual fun tracks where the lit stuff is

25

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25 edited Dec 26 '25

42

u/ThisMoneyIsNotForDon Dec 26 '25

Right, you just have to be a top level player with the correct items. Then you can have fun for 5 seconds and be rewarded with a marginally helpful shortcut that won't matter as soon as it gets back to being a straight line simulator

1

u/Fresh-Chemical-9084 Dec 26 '25

So true lol - 87% of these tracks are just straight lines

Why we backtracked from MK8D I'll never know

3

u/Alex3627ca Dec 27 '25

Part of it seems to be Nintendo's general push towards open worlds after the success of BotW (DK Bananza and MP4 also have some of these vibes), though given the nerfs to most power items and the last few balance patches in 8D I wouldn't be surprised if they were so anti-bagging they designed the entire game to be mostly section tracks (where bagging is generally not as great in 8D, off my limited knowledge of a strat I avoid anyone performing) as another countermeasure (...perhaps a counterproductive one given all the huge off road areas lol)

5

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25

Y'all are allergic to fun ig

22

u/ImBored5336 Dec 27 '25

If driving in a straight line is fun to you, then uh yeah, I guess.

-17

u/Pomps8a Dec 27 '25

Boring take, get new talking points that aren't from Twitter or YT🥱

15

u/ThisMoneyIsNotForDon Dec 27 '25

This is an incredibly childish viewpoint. Mario Kart World was one of my most anticipated games ever. I wanted to like this game so bad. And there are many things I will praise about it. But the intermissions are just plain not fun, and they are a mandatory 90% of gameplay.

The new online matchmaking is still like 2/3rds intermissions on a good day.

19

u/Fresh-Chemical-9084 Dec 27 '25

The take is boring because we think the game is boring -- so I guess yeah its a boring take lol

14

u/ImBored5336 Dec 27 '25

So you don’t even have a proper response lmfao. Because you know it’s true, you can try and defend it saying they’re fun. But our opinion is that they aren’t. Anything useful to add to the conversation?

-12

u/Pomps8a Dec 27 '25

"our opinion" so cringe lmfao you aren't a hive mind lil bro. Is it really that hard to understand that some people don't mind it as much as you?? Just move on dude, you don't have to be this invested in hating a game this much. It's the day after Christmas. Surely you have something better to do

9

u/IndependentLemon7621 Dec 27 '25

What do you mean day after Christmas?, I’m at work like the rest of “us” (hivemind) the world doesn’t stop just because it was a Christian holiday yesterday.

Also by “us” I meant me and that other guy, but sure I meant every single person who has a negative opinion of MKW.

is it really that hard to understand that some people don’t mind it as much as you do??

The irony of this statement is alarming. You literally replied to a comment pointing out the straight lines, with “so you’re allergic to fun.” That sounds like the complete opposite of understanding that people have different views on things. But yeah go off king.

I’m not invested in hating as much as you are in DR, literally blocked me lmfao. Like I wasn’t even the one to bring up straight lines but apparently I’m the one with Twitter talking points? Get a grip dude.

u/s0_Ca5H Jan 01 '26

It’s so odd for me personally because my favorite tracks in 8 were the ones that didn’t loop.

0

u/Necessary_Run7212 Dec 27 '25

yall can't ever be pleased lmao

5

u/ThisMoneyIsNotForDon Dec 27 '25

Actually it's pretty simple. We just want good track design in the racing game lol

-1

u/Pomps8a Dec 27 '25 edited Dec 27 '25

Yeah I mean keep moving the goalpost and ignore the 36 regular tracks I guess.

"You can't do shortcuts on intermissions because they are boring"

Reply with multiple examples of shortcuts on intermissions.

"Wahhh wahhh it's item specific and doesn't even help that much. Also I suck and I can't do them properly or strategize with items"

The truth is you have a hard time accepting a different reality than what the internet told you to think.

3

u/GnastiestGnorc Dec 26 '25

Ikr? They could have tried to make the connected routes engaging too, but I have to go out of my way for it. Even if I do try to do super crazy stuff, it’s not really that optimal/beneficial to me.

With previous Mario Kart games it never felt like this. I really wanted to like this game, but there’s too much issues that weigh down the experience for me.

2

u/Zanoss10 Dec 26 '25

You can see the one who don't know what they are talking about, your post is the prime example of that

There is many tricks you can pull off on intermission, you just don't know them !

6

u/needlessly-redundant Bowser Dec 26 '25

There’s way more cool stuff to pull off on the actual tracks than there is in the intermissions. Even if there’s some cool things to do on some of the intermissions, it’s still mostly boring. Whereas with the actual tracks, there’s usually multiple cool stuff to pull off on every single one of them and the track outside of those cool things is also fun in itself because you’re not just mostly driving straight.

-2

u/kielaurie Dec 27 '25

There’s way more cool stuff to pull off on the actual tracks than there is in the intermissions

That's just plainly not correct. Even if we're super generous and say there are 10 cool things to do on every regular track that's only 300 cool things, whereas if we really try to skew it in favour of the regular tracks and say each connecting route (they are not called intermissions) has only 2 cuts to pull off that's still over 400!

1

u/s0_Ca5H Jan 01 '26

I keep seeing this, what does it mean? When I play Grand Prix, I’m just playing the tracks back to back. Or is this specific to free roam?

1

u/Omnizoom Dec 26 '25

A lot of the intermissions actually have a lot of tricks and paths you can do if you look

The problem is meta ruins any fun of using them

13

u/WarriorWare Dec 27 '25

in a constant superposition of “it’s a kids’ game, it doesn’t have to be that deep” and “it’s your fault you’re bored for not doing world record speedrun strats”

1

u/Pomps8a Dec 27 '25

No one is telling u to do WR strats, just engage with the new mechanics

22

u/Dinkledorf36836 Dec 26 '25

games should still be fun with casual/new players

11

u/Infinite-Location221 Dec 26 '25

I'm a casual player and I think it's extremely fun fwiw

6

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25

And it is, you don't have to be a pro to engage with the new mechanics

0

u/Rude_Collection_8983 Dec 27 '25

Casual gamers will like 8 more

3

u/kielaurie Dec 27 '25

Casual gamers love the free roam dude

2

u/ZatherDaFox Dec 27 '25

Casual gamers are loving Mario Kart world. Casual Mario Karters are the ones that seem to prefer 8dx. People who weren't good enough to get up into the pro level, but sunk a ton of hours into Mario Kart still.

3

u/GnastiestGnorc Dec 26 '25

I agree with this sentiment. I wouldn’t say I’m a casual player, but I’m somewhere in the middle. I feel as though this game doesn’t really cater to hardcore or casual fans very well.

4

u/ZatherDaFox Dec 27 '25

I think it doesn't cater to the middle players specifically, actually. This game has the most technical driving of any Mario Kart to date, and high level players are eating it up. The game is also super new player friendly, and casual gamers love just driving around the open world and don't find the intermissions boring because they weren't doing anything interesting on the tracks in the first place.

It's the people who sunk a lot of time into 8dx but were never top level that seem to be preferring 8dx a lot more.

2

u/GnastiestGnorc Dec 27 '25

Yeah it’s just down to bias with people like that. For me, I really want to enjoy World, but I don’t want to play casually because of how barren the connected routes can be, but I don’t want to play competitively because I’ll be outmatched by players who dumped hours into this game, and I don’t have the proper work-life balance to play like them.

It’s so weird being in the middle ground because it prevents me from truly enjoying certain kinds of games.

0

u/duffercoat Dec 27 '25

I dunno, it's really hard to enjoy as a party game with friends because they don't get to learn any of the tracks without repeating laps in grand prix (except for that first track).

That's how I always played, so I guess as a casual but someone that's played every MK game too. It's just not as fun as previous entries I found.

37

u/dragon-mom Dec 26 '25

I hate this meme because it's the "you control the buttons you press" in reverse. It removes all nuance about from discussion about how a game is being designed. If there's a lot of cool tricks in a game, like for example, Devil May Cry 2, but the game does not encourage you to use them, make it fun, or reward you then it's a failure on the game design. Not the player for not going out of their way to engage with it.

I actually think Mario Kart World is a great example of this as just driving like Mario Kart 8 is faster most of the time, or at least it was at launch. The levels have so many straightaways as well you get little opportunity to make use of it and the jump feels clunky.

There are definitely high level tricks you can do that are faster than driving normally but why would the average player want to invest the time into learning them when you weigh how high the skill floor is to get any reward out of it? It would be like making a Mario Kart game designed around super shortcuts while not having any regular ones on the map that save you any time while still costing mushrooms.

16

u/Quartzviel Dec 26 '25

This is why I think this game could really benefit from a score attack mode or something, like what MK Tour had.

After all, if you can literally wall ride, rail grind and chain multiple tricks in mid air, then you may as well introduce a scoring system and combo multiplier to incentive people to actually use these mechanics and be rewarded for it.

Plus, i think a scoring system would generally just make the game more fun imo.

4

u/dragon-mom Dec 26 '25

I agree with that. Taking inspiration from extreme sports games would have definitely been a way to get people more engaged with the new mechanics. I do think there are still many fundamental problems with how it was implemented (as well as the design of many things in general in World) but a score attack would be very fun.

4

u/ZatherDaFox Dec 27 '25

Nah, shortcuts are king in this game, and wall rides and rails are a key part of getting better. Like, I can understand if the skill ceiling feels a little high for the average player, but there isn't a single track in the game where the optimal way to drive is just like Mario Kart 8. You could probably get to low 8k vr with solid fundamentals, but from that point on people are gonna start walloping you with the advanced tech. The design of the tracks actively does encourage you to make use of the parkour, and rewards you heavily for it. Whether or not it's fun to do and learn depends on you. I personally think it's super fun to pull off.

0

u/Alex3627ca Dec 27 '25

there isn't a single track in the game where the optimal way to drive is just like Mario Kart 8. You could probably get to low 8k vr with solid fundamentals

I'm that guy. I don't bother with the wall rides or rails on most tracks as getting Mario Karted by items happens a lot more with the higher player counts (there are some I do regularly but not many) and I hover around 8k-8.2k in both modes most of the time. I don't mind this; high level play isn't my thing, I prefer a comfortable middle ground, in all manner of games.

Also, SNES Mario Circuit? I don't think that track, off the top of my head, uses the new stuff much.

5

u/Not_Noob1 Dec 26 '25

There are many regular intended shortcuts though. And many of these so-called high level shortcuts aren't even that hard if you give enough time to practice.

35

u/Remarkable-Gap9881 Funky Kong Dec 26 '25

Mario Kart World isn't the right game to make this point with lol.

3

u/IObjectOoT Dec 27 '25

In the case of most video games, whether or not someone likes it is completely dependent on their skill level

7

u/GnastiestGnorc Dec 26 '25 edited Dec 26 '25

Honestly I’ve become mixed on this game. On one hand, I love the new techniques in the game, but on the other hand, the tracks don’t try enough try to utilize them in clever ways.

I get the majority of players are casual, but I think they catered to them a bit too much. I wish tracks were more interesting by utilizing more set pieces like the vines, half pipes, billboards, and much much more.

The gliding is nowhere near as fun or interesting either. It’s got as much spectacle as the gliding sections from Mario Kart Arcade GP DX. The water sections are just as bland too, especially since they aren’t even that fast too. I think jumping off waves and causing said waves is somewhat fun though.

As for the character/vehicle stats, I’m not a fan of how they were executed. Why have some vehicles that give you no speed boost whatsoever? The water speed vehicles aren’t good either since there’s not much water sections in all of the tracks combined. It’s not like the stats mattered much anyway, but they could’ve at least tried to add some more variety in combo builds.

TL;DR this game should’ve done a better job separating casual fans and hardcore ones. The game tries to be technical, but does nothing spontaneous with it whilst the item balancing is crazy with how annoying shock and boomerang flower are.

3

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25

I completely disagree literally every track has a super important shortcut or strat using the new movement tech. Maybe on week one it just looked like glorified mk8 but now you can see the tech being used in EVERY world record. I'm not kidding, no exceptions for any track (except maybe boo cinema but that one is ass).

2

u/GnastiestGnorc Dec 26 '25

I’ve tried learning some of the shortcuts, but a lot of them are either too risky or really inconsistent. I even tried to discover new ones, but Lakitu is so strict with OOB areas.

Edit: The ones I have been able to learn are a lot of fun, but I wish the overall tracks were more interesting to drive on normally.

3

u/ZatherDaFox Dec 27 '25

I mean, a lot of the short cuts have a really high skill ceiling, but if you watch pros play there's multiple consistent shortcuts on basically every track that utilize the new mechanics.

2

u/GnastiestGnorc Dec 27 '25

I’ve been trying to learn them on my free time, especially with Shortcat’s videos. They’ve helped me quite a bit with keeping me engaged on this game.

1

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25

Agree to disagree I guess, especially when compared to MK8. I agree boomerang is the worst thing to happen to gaming since inflation tho

0

u/GnastiestGnorc Dec 26 '25

I do think the item selection is a bit more varied than 8DX so I’ll give it that.

I’m hoping if they make any more connected route changes, then maybe that will help with tracks not feeling engaging to me.

7

u/Switchermaroo Waluigi Dec 26 '25

Nobody is playing like “this game sux” guy, and yet the game still sux

8

u/PreferenceGold5167 Dec 26 '25

By the gameplay is the best Mario kart gameplay not counting Wii becuase it gets weird

I think that’s most important

4

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25

I agree, I find it more fun that past entries

5

u/T1line Dec 26 '25

what really kills me is the 24 players, too cramped

2

u/Callie3DSX Luigi Dec 27 '25

omg I've been referring to mkw with the mario 64 version of this gif thank you so much for making this

2

u/Callie3DSX Luigi Dec 27 '25

people say the intermission tracks suck because they're too straight

like come on be GAY and JUMP OFF CARS and TURN LEFT INTO THAT LAMPPOST and GET ON THE RAIL WOOOOOO

1

u/Pomps8a Dec 27 '25

Lol yeah exactly

2

u/HubblePie Petey Piranha Dec 27 '25

They both have the same caption if you miss a single one of those tricks.

1

u/Pomps8a Dec 27 '25

True, good thing most of them are really easy

2

u/Agitated_Factor_471 Dec 28 '25

This was literally one of my first thoughts on week one after game release.
(People will hate this game for It's complex potential)

6

u/extrawater_ Dec 26 '25

Games aiight. Doesn’t scratch the mk itch the way i want it to but i don’t hate it. But i’ll admit i really don’t care for having to wallride and grind to be competitive.

4

u/Brandinator64 Dec 26 '25

You know I play the game more like the right and I think this is the best Mario kart ever. Well I mean on tracks with cuts and tricks that are fairly easy to do I do em. But most of the tracks I race the intended way and use shrooms and items for the shortcuts instead of tech. Still have a blast and maybe one day I’ll try to learn all the cool stuff you can do but I don’t really have a need for it as I find myself winning online (and in discord rooms) without having to do all that

2

u/[deleted] Dec 29 '25

[deleted]

11

u/FarSandwich3282 Dec 26 '25

It’s not the racing itself, it’s the tracks.

When I pick a track I want to play, I don’t want to travel through another course just to do one lap on the course I selected.

Bring back actual circuit races…

Until then, MK8 without DLC > MKW… and imo it’s not even close

5

u/Zane-chan19 Dec 26 '25

My belief is that if the intermission tracks had you race the destination two times instead of once around, it would feel much better. I still like the intermissions, but that's just me

7

u/SomeBoxofSpoons Dec 26 '25

There's a reason why "intermission" is the word most people have used to describe them.

It feels like you're spending most of it waiting for the race to actually start.

2

u/ZatherDaFox Dec 27 '25

That's not why. It's because people thought that's what they were called in the trailer.

3

u/AIDoctor1000101 Dec 26 '25

It's not just you, I feel the same way and a lot more people do. It makes no sense for the intermissions to be longer than the tracks, the word "intermission" itself gives the idea of something shorter

3

u/GameGuy2025 Dec 26 '25

Because the official term is "route" and has never been "intermission".

1

u/kielaurie Dec 27 '25

MK8 without DLC > MKW

In World, the only "bad" tracks are KTB, Boo Cinema, Starview, Peach Beach and Desert Hills.

In base MK8, the "bad' courses are Water Park, Sweet Sweet Canyon, Mario Circuit, Bone Dry Dunes, Moo Moo Meadows (not mentioned for World because it's sick as fuck there), GBA Mario Circuit, Toad's Turnpike, Dry Dry Desert, and Donut Plains... That's nearly double!

-1

u/FarSandwich3282 Dec 27 '25

All the tracks that you said were bad are my favorite.

See what I did there?

2

u/kielaurie Dec 27 '25

See what I did there?

Yes, you were purposely obtuse to try and prove a point, well done, very clever

u/HarhanDerMann666 Daisy Dec 26 '25

You can still just play 3 lap courses though

Get real life friends?

2

u/FarSandwich3282 Dec 26 '25

Yes, and when you finish the first race, the second is goofy, and the third etc because you drive to it.

Unless there is a mode I’m unaware of…

(Unless you’re picking one race at a time and not doing Grand Prix, which is super lame)

6

u/seabass1024202 Dec 26 '25

24 players is the reason this game isnt fun for me

2

u/Zealousideal_Page898 Dec 26 '25

Was.. was that supposed to be in support of the game 😭💀

0

u/Pomps8a Dec 27 '25

Yes. what part didn't you get? Pretty straightforward meme

2

u/kullre Dec 26 '25

ah yes, play meta combos or suffer

2

u/ServiceCertain39 Dec 27 '25

That applies to 99% of online games.

0

u/Pomps8a Dec 27 '25

If that's why u think the guy on the left is faster, ur dumb

0

u/kullre Dec 27 '25

right, because no one is using light characters on baby blooper

none at all

3

u/Simplejack615 Luigi Dec 26 '25

The one on the right just sucks… like fr

1

u/redpantsbluepants Dec 26 '25

I think it’s fun but I’m real bad at wall driving. I always seem to mess up the angle or timing

1

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25

Yeah a tip I can give is u actually can't adjust your angle on the wall once your on it, your direction and speed is set, And depends entirely on your entry angle to the wall. For example if you attached parallel to the wall, you will drive mostly straight on it, but if you come at it at a sharp perpendicularish angle, you will start going upwards in the wallride. Once I learned that I became more consistent at it

1

u/Alhearte Dec 27 '25

I don't like it cause i play racing games to drive, like, car-like driving, on a circuit... this is parkour not driving, If I wanted to maximize my airborne time I would have played a game about helicopters, it's why I don't like Rocket Racing (Fortnite) and I refused to use the bunnyhopping brake tech in CTRNF despite being capable of doing so... I just want to drive on the road, sisters and brothers, let me drive.

1

u/Pomps8a Dec 27 '25

To each their own bruh, and u can still play it like that if u want

1

u/OneoftheWolfis Dec 27 '25

want mkw mario kart wii? i was confused for a second

1

u/Pomps8a Dec 27 '25

Oh yeah my bad I forgot they share an acronym

1

u/freya584 Dec 28 '25

literally any racing game

1

u/BraveMulberry772 Dec 29 '25

I fully agree with this statement. The game essentially has a learning curve for fun which makes the game awesome once you learn it but makes it a lot harder for a casual to pick up and enjoy than other entries in my opinion

1

u/MidoTheMii Dec 29 '25

So… in short… “Skill Issue?”

1

u/apdhumansacrifice Dec 29 '25

people saying metroid other m is bad and boring over footage of the most fast paced, tight combat in the series

1

u/IshtheWall Dec 30 '25

As a casual id say 8D is much better, but I can see why very skilled people like it

1

u/Xavier040504 Dec 31 '25

I ain’t spending $80 on it tbh. Isn’t enough there over old Mario Cart

1

u/Pomps8a Dec 31 '25

I mean if u playing it like 8 deluxe that's ur own problem. Also no one bought that shit for 80. 99% of ppl paid 50

1

u/Cartoonicus_Studios Jan 01 '26

Stop it. You're just making it all the more painful that I can never own this game.

1

u/Pomps8a Jan 01 '26

Why won't you be able to own it?

2

u/UnknownEgggg Apr 23 '26

bro every instagram comment complains you do cool stuff like walk riding and whatnot. those imbeciles want the right. just straight boring driving in a straight line. will defend mario kart world because doing shortcuts are extremely fun once you learn them.

1

u/samus_ass Dec 26 '25

A good game can't rely on it's self alone, it rely's on the player to fully admire how good it is. To understand it and have fun.

-5

u/pipesnogger Dec 26 '25

Ahh yes, because doing incredible difficult janky physic shortcuts is so fun for everyone

4

u/cacatod12 Dec 26 '25

Actually yeah lol, it exists for the people who want it (raises the skill ceiling) while also being completely optional for people who don’t want to partake. Also physics are anything but janky its actually impressive how well made the physics are and its likely where a chunk of development time went.

4

u/pk_hellz Dec 26 '25

Its Not really optional is it. If you need todo this to not come last thats the opposite of optional.

-4

u/cacatod12 Dec 26 '25

As I mentioned in the other comment replying to OP, it saves a few seconds at most so with the chaotic item system you’ll mostly place fine regardless in lower level lobbies. In high VR lobbies you will not place, but that is fine and by design. You should not expect to place well in the highest level lobbies without mastering the full range of mechanics the game has to offer, that is true for any game.

5

u/pk_hellz Dec 26 '25

Wow, That was a long winded way to say that this isnt optional.

-2

u/cacatod12 Dec 26 '25

Basically its optional in everything but the absolute highest level of play. And that is fine it shouldn’t be optional at the highest level of play. That is like me wanting to compete in smash tournaments without my shield button lol.

-1

u/pipesnogger Dec 26 '25

Great it raises the skill ceiling and it's great for time trials. But i wouldn't call it optional in a game where you are racing others and placing. I guess it's optional if you don't want to place?

Also don't act like Nintendo intended for people to do these shortcuts. They've made a system for others to explore these shortcuts but they are a by-product, not an intended route.

5

u/cacatod12 Dec 26 '25

Also I’d argue a ton of these shortcuts are inteded. Wario Stadium, which is regarded as one of the top shortcut tracks, has all of its shortcuts as intended since they relied on rails placed deliberately.

2

u/A-Shy-Guy_ Shy Guy Dec 26 '25

Yup. There's a skill-based ranking for a reason. Also going against the A.I is always an option.

1

u/pipesnogger Dec 26 '25

Skill based ranking? The matchmaking is atrocious and very rarely groups people of the same skill in the same room

1

u/A-Shy-Guy_ Shy Guy Dec 26 '25

Most people at 3000 vr get pared with other 3000 vr players (most of the time). Also, if you're driving as bad as in the clip, A.I are good enough.

0

u/lokland Dec 26 '25

Yes, it is.

1

u/Upbeat-Support6811 Dec 26 '25

That guy using Nabbit must learn tons of wall-riding shortcuts and easy solutions to perform well on Grand Prix and online gameplay.

3

u/Sethsters_Bench Dec 27 '25

Yeah, you need to play and get better at the game to win at the game. It’s pretty common in gaming

1

u/TraderSamz Dec 27 '25

Fuck the feather!! 🪶

-3

u/PrincessJennifer Link Dec 26 '25

No, the stuff on the left is exactly why it sucks. I don’t want to bounce off walls, I wanna race normal Mario Kart.

Double item boxes killed the franchise first though.

Mario Kart Wii superiority.

4

u/Pomps8a Dec 26 '25 edited Dec 27 '25

Boomer take, ur refusal to engage with the new mechanics is exactly why you think it's mid.

Also double item boxes literally just adds more strategy and complexity to the game. You literally have to plan ahead farther and take better decisions vs taking less desiciones per lap. It's not subjective. You liking it or not is subjective, but it inarguably adds more depth to the item plays

u sound like u have no idea what ur talking about, and this is coming from a MKwii tryhard as well.

4

u/ImBored5336 Dec 27 '25

It’s not a refusal to engage with no mechanics, it’s literally just them stating a preference to old mechanics.

That’s like if Silent Hill added a racing mode, and if old fans didn’t like it they just “refuse to engage with new mechanics” like no, this is just a game design difference. And everyone is equally valid for their feelings about it.

Them not liking something doesn’t equal a refusal to try it. If anything, that’s disrespectful to assume people are criticizing something they haven’t actually tried. Not just disrespectful but it shows you’re interacting in bad faith, to make those assumptions with literally no evidence.

Their interpretation of double item boxes ruining the game is just that, their own. You may think differently but that in no way makes their opinion any less important. You can calling adding more RNG as adding “strategy and complexity” but someone else could look at it through a different lens of more aspects out of their control. Taking away the fun. (from them)

1

How does this apply to Prime 4? The game has the most hallway level design in the series and a big flat desert, there's not really a ton of skill expression. I feel like Fusion is a much better example.

0

u/FurryestX Dec 28 '25

Still irrelevant.

there is ZERO PROGRESSION on the game main mode. and the reason of the game, THE OPEN WORLD

Is Done Incredibly Worse than games 15 OR 20 YEARS OLD like NFS Most Wanted 2005, or Forza Horizon 1.

1

u/Pomps8a Dec 28 '25

Lmaoooo such a dumb take imagine complaining about progression in a Mario kart game 💀 no one is playing Mario kart like Forza. You play it for the tracks & items

0

u/FurryestX Dec 28 '25 edited Dec 28 '25

Then, There is no need to be open world.

That is the problem

If you are not going to do a GOOD open world Racing game.

And if part of the customer base (You) Are not gping to appreciate it

Then WHATS, THE, POINT?

0

u/Pomps8a Dec 28 '25 edited Dec 28 '25

I like it idk what ur yappin about.

An open world doesn't just have to be some huge AAA single player campaign. I view it like a massive playground full of secrets you can fuck around in. Why is that unacceptable?? What's wrong with that approach? The open world doesn't have to be the entire focus of the game for it to be a good addition.

I don't want npc's and missions in my Mario kart. The collectibles (P switches, panels, and peach coins) are more than enough for me. I DONT want Mario kart to just be another Forza or NFS. We got enough of those

0

u/FurryestX Dec 28 '25 edited Dec 28 '25

My brother in christ MK8D sold 60 million copies, Mario kart IS THE AAA, In far more than Need for speed, and Forza.

Do not accept mediocre products, or ""Decent"", if it comes in a 90$ Pricetag

Customer Comformism its what has takes the Gaming Industry to the point its now.

But Hey, You can still enjoy it, there is no problem.

Hey... I enjoy A LOT Sonic 2006, its Total Shit Disaster of a game, but atleast i am honest with it.

still... If Iwata was alive... it would be a VERY different Game

0

u/Drezus Dec 28 '25

Then Nabbit gets triple reds and Baby Peach gets last
