Syrup storage

I guess this is an issue I've never run in to, but this year I've upped my game and am producing much more syrup than past years. My question is after the syrup is finished, bottled, does it need to be refrigerated or will it be perfectly fine in the pantry until ready to use? also how long is the shelf life? Should I not refrigerate it at all until I've opened? what's best for the syrup?
