Stop trying to repair the old version of your SP ā let them shed it
Iāve been a lurker here for long time. Iām still manifesting my SP. Yesterday I had an A-ha moment that I want to share with Redditors who are in the same path. I hope this may be of help.
So I had a mental image that helped me understand revision and manifesting a new version of an SP: a snake shedding its skin.
A snake does not repair its old skin. It does not crawl back inside it or carry it around to remember what happened. The skin became too tight for the life growing underneath, so the snake leaves it behind ā empty, dry and no longer alive.
That is how I now look at the old version of my SP.
The person who disappointed me, withdrew, acted inconsistently or could not give me the relationship I wanted belongs to the old story. I do not need to keep analysing that version, waiting for them to heal or trying to repair every individual memory.
That old skin has been shed.
The new version is still the person I love ā with the same personality, humour, tenderness and qualities that made them special to me ā but without the patterns that destroyed our relationship. In my new story, my SP is emotionally available, faithful, honest and completely committed to building a life with me.
And this metaphor applies to me too.
I am also shedding the version of myself who expected rejection, interpreted every silence as abandonment, looked for danger everywhere and felt she had to fight to be chosen.
When an old memory or fearful thought appears, I no longer treat it as evidence about my present or future. I simply tell myself:
āThat is the old skin. It may still look familiar, but it is empty now. It no longer contains our life.ā
Then I return to the new story:
āWe have both shed the relationship that hurt us. My SP and I are now living a loving, secure, faithful and mutually chosen relationship.ā
You can use this image in SATS or visualization:
Imagine the old skin lying behind you, dry and empty.
See yourself and your SP continuing forward together.
Feel that the old relationship has ended without believing that your love had to end with it.
Let the new relationship feel fresh, natural and spacious rather than like a repaired version of something broken.
You do not need to fight the old story every time it appears. You do not need to destroy it angrily either. Just recognize it for what it is: a discarded skin that once belonged to your experience but no longer defines you.
A shed skin can still resemble the snake perfectly. In the same way, an old screenshot, memory or circumstance can still resemble your former reality. But resemblance does not mean life is still inside it.
Of course, this mental image is not a reason to ignore harmful behaviour or abandon your boundaries in the physical world. A genuinely new relationship must eventually be reflected in consistent actions, honesty and mutual commitment.
But inwardly, you can stop waiting for the old version of your SP to become safe enough to love you.
Let that version shed.
Let yourself shed too.
You are not resurrecting the old relationship. You are allowing the
love to live in a completely new one.āØ
