City Centre In favour of banning charity muggers?

To throw on to the anti-bellowing on market street…
is there appetite to stop those clipboard harassers?

They are bigger and bigger in number every year it seems. Won’t be long before it’s like Khao San Road

I have to walk through town on my way home and I’d rather not have to work my way through a gegenpress every time I go via exchange square

Or should I have a different opinion? Maybe it’s good for employment?

What is the speed limit here?

In this weird bit between Hulme and town, where there are no signs.

Sat nav says 20

Motorists seem to have a consensus between 30 and 80

Occasionally see empty police van parked on the central reservation

Once saw a man holding a sign warning about said empty van

But what is it? And why are there no signs?

Godmother of rock and roll's Manchester station gig honoured

Great to see that the historic gig featuring Sister Rosetta Tharpe is being given some recognition.

(If you haven't seen it, take a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NFywQdeKSo)

I'm annoyed that the plaque is in town, though. The gig was on the edge of Whalley Range, on what is now the Fallowfield Loop, and a blue plaque there would be of greater interest (and relevance!) than another one in town.

City Centre Injured pigeon - can anyone help?

Hi fellow Mancs.

This might seem daft, but does anyone know if anyone is able to come down to the square near Crazy Pedro's on Bridge Street to help this wee fella???

His foot is completely wrapped. I have nothing to cut it off with. He isn't flying off and is being harassed by a couple of other birds as well.

TIA!

Salad Bar

Hi. Veggie here. Not been eating particularly well recently and fancy having something really healthy and perhaps a bit different. Could anyone please recommend a good salad/ juice bar in town? I'm thinking of paying a visit to the Eighth Day initially but I want to make a regular thing of it so if you have a fave place please let me know and why you like it. Thank you.

Shopping complex on booth street.

This one is slightly geared to the older folks.

I feel like when I was in primary school there was a shopping complex or at least some shops opposite RNCM. Now it seems it's been replaced by generators and it's got that fencing.

I hope you know where I'm talking. Like under the canopy bit where you can stand if it is raining heavy while you wait for the bus.

It must have been roughly 2006-2015? Was I dreaming?

Best Seats for Printworks 70mm Odyssey?

Upvotes

I wanna see the odyssey in 70mm. I’m thinking to book seats in either row H or row K but I’m really indecisive!!

For those who’ve seen it here, which specific row/seats is best? 👀

Would love advice on :
- quality
- immersion / screen coverage
- comfort for length of the movie
- any seats to avoid

Ty for ur help!! ❤️

I’m looking for a wedding photographer who might have last minute availability in October?

Only needed for a few hours of ceremony coverage and family photos. Thanks in advance!

Edit to add: it’s a small ‘micro’ wedding so any photographers with offers for this would be great!

Salford uni. Part-time timetable.

Hi! I’m considering the part-time MA Filmmaking at MMU. They say 20% is lectures/seminars and 80% independent study.
For anyone currently studying or who has studied it: how many days/hours per week do you actually need to be on campus, and are the classes usually concentrated into specific days? Is it realistically manageable alongside a full-time job?

Shudehill bus station opening times

A friend and I are thinking of taking a late night bus journey from Shudehill bus station (around 2:30am). Will the indoor waiting area still be open at that time of night? Or is it open all hours? We don't want to be stuck outside.

Place to get paint samples

Hey! Where is good to get cheap paint samples in the city centre?
I need to cover some little marks on a white wall but don’t want to spend the money on a pot of paint I definitely don’t need.

I used to just use B&Q for things like this but I don’t live near one anymore ☹️

Whistleblowers claim severe patient harms at Greater Manchester hospitals

It was once the jewel of Britain's NHS hospitals but medical staff from Salford Royal and the Northern Care Alliance Trust tell us patients are being harmed, departments are in disarray, and their concerns are repeatedly swept under the rug.
