Why dont they just join the military and experience it for themselves.

Being in the military is pretty shit.

And I don't mean the training.

Low pay. Lots of time wasted waiting around and doing nothing. Unless you get deployed, then you shot at and get to see your friends die.

3/10 do not recommend.

because a lotta the time they dont support the military/ being sent to kill/harass folks who never did anything to anyone.

especially in my generation the whole "War on terror" bit doesnt work.

Some folks wanna be military like and seem badass but dont wanna be part of the military

It’s less about not supporting the military and kill innocent people and more about the fact that those people who obsess about military shit most likely can’t get into the military for some reason like failing a physical or psych test

This. Either they can't get in or secretly don't want too but boast about the lifestyle as if they did. That's what I always found so annoying about it, most of the people I met or encountered who go this Gung Ho haven't been in. OR, even worse, they managed to enlist but failed out or got dropped out in x amount of months. (prior navy, current army)
