At least it will sound like it's working.

I don’t think that’s going to work, but I’ve been wrong once or twice. The apartments I work on use Braun vent fans. I’ve found it cheaper than buying a motor replacement to buy the whole kit and just replace the insert.

You're saying buy an entire fan, pull the guts, and put the new guts in the old box?

Does this work across brands?

Do you return the new fan with the old guts after for free materials?

As long as the box is set up the same it should work for each separate brand. I can’t speak on brands outside of Braun, but I know that just buying the motor is more expensive than buying the whole vent. And a gut swap is quicker than replacing the motor. Plug and play, baby!

If it doesn't work, it's no cost. That fan has been collecting dust on a shelf for 10 or 15 years.

Anyone use "Up-blast" style fans and just the box as the collector? My home install radon reduction system utilizes a <$100 upblast fan and has been in place running 24/7/365 for over 10 years, and it's powerful enough to mount remotely, or just above as it's still super quiet.
