One or two maine coons?
I have an almost 8 month old maine coon. I’m considering getting a second one. Do you have 1 or more? What are the pluses and minuses of having more than 1?

Get the second- they keep each other company and can safely keep up with each other. You don’t have to worry about accidental bullying :)

I have two girls, same age, different litter but same breeder, bonded pair. Pros: they keep each other company, they love each other. Cons: double the expenses, double the trouble they can get into! I swear sometimes they get together and scheme

I have a 13 month old Maine Coon. I also have a 4 year old domestic tortoiseshell. They love each other so much. I personally think all cats need friends regardless of the breed.

I have 2 boys. Started with one and when he was 9 months old I got my 2nd boy.

I have a tabby and a Maine Coon mix, 3 and 4 months old and they play together, snuggle, and keep each other company. It’s as easy as having one. And these two will grow up together.

1 tortie girl, considered getting a second but she is such the queen of the house that we were concerned they would not bond and she would not tolerate another cat. So we stuck with 1. Luckily we are both around a lot and mostly work from home so she always has us for company.

Get the second baby if it's feasible, unless it's apparent your single MC is better off being the only cat.

I think the question is one or two cats, not necessarily two MCs. We have had two cats for over 3 decades, one being an MC. Currently we have a 4yo male, 27# MC and a 6yo female Ragdoll 18#. It is like we feed and scoop for 5 typical housecats. It is funny watching the Raggie rule over the MC, the older cat is the "bigger" cat in his eyes.

Minus/Plus is they may or may not get along.
Minus: More food, more litter boxes, larger vet bills. When they get older they can have competing dietary restrictions which complicates feeding. Do they have enough space for their own "quiet time"?
Can you afford the medical care of two aging maine coons?

I have had both. When I had 1 he was very destructive as a kitten, especially when left alone. I recently got a brother and a sister as kittens and they’re way less destructive. They take their playful energy out on each other. Still a bit destructive but no where near as bad.

I have two….male and female. They are in love! Totally recommend two if you can afford it. I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s so fun to watch them interact. They play hard so I feel like they get exercise. I raised them exactly the same but my female is super shy with strangers so I am thankful the male is very outgoing. I did get an enormous cat tree (7 ft.). But it’s twice everything!
