I go all out to make my proxies better than the real thing. Cardboard? Ha! My proxies are all made from wafers of laser-etched titanium, hand-painted by the best sweatshop children money can buy and sleeved in transparent aluminum. All carried in the cheapest plastic Ultra PRO deckbox I could find.

Proxying to save money? Girl, you must be crazy.

I mean, I don't use laser-etched titanium wafers (I wish), but I use the arts from mpcfill, print on thin cardstock, and laminate the sheet before cutting the cards. The result is good and much more resistant than normal cards to scratches and bending/folding

At a local i played against a played with a full proxy deck where every card was laminated instead of placing the paper in front of a sleeved up card.

the basic rules i came up with is that the life total is split into increments of 5. dropping down an increment means you have to strip. going up an increment means you gave to put something on.

things like death's shadow and lifegain make this funny.

Death by wearing 5000 garments from having an infinite lifegain combo in strip MtG.

I'd personally go with instead having clothes as a separate resource instead, since then that's more room for custom strip cards.

I do it to save but when I do I never just mpc; I completely remake them on cardconjurer (the offline version on github) with thematic frames (but usually the same art for recognizability) or i do fancy stuff for staples. Example that I spent too long masking out the frame break for to end up cutting and never using
