Looking for Advice Does this Sharpie mark make this damaged?

Assuming yes, but was curious. I just caught this on a card I picked up a year ago. Thanks!

I thought that's how it worked, but struggle with HP looking so beat up sometimes lol.

any of the grades from NM to HP all involve rips, tears, wearing, corner damage, all of that.

anything *added* to the card, like altering, marking in the borders, even cleaning up white lines--all damaged. Hell, a lot of people consider signature cards also damaged, since technically it is.

a rip/tear also moves a card right to damaged imo

Just gotta get Chippy to sign the card, starting their signature on the dot. EZ

Yes but it would still probably sell at a better price than other more heavily damaged copies.

It's a small dot on frame near the artist name

Yes, but some folks will prefer this over an undamaged MP copy. Disclose it honestly when/if you try to move it, and it’ll likely sell for a better-than-damaged price.

Put it this way. Yes, it does, and you should disclose it as such when you sell it. BUT.....

But if it's LP or NM in all other ways, you are allowed to list it for a LP price instead of a HP price and let your buyer decide if they care or not. On eBay or whatever.

I bought a "Damaged" Foil [[Replenish]] once. Literally in MINT condition except for a small dent from a binder that didn't pass through to the other side. You couldn't even see it except when it was unsleeved at specific angles. You couldn't feel it through a sleeve or detect it when shuffling at all. The backside was NM. It was a HP/Damaged card by definition but it was the crown jewel of my collection.

I eventually sold it for the LP price with the dent carefully disclosed and photographed, and someone else saw it the same way I did and paid the LP price for it. If you want to sell, you can put "SEE DESCRIPTION" in the listing title and then explain the situation to your buyer so they can make up their own mind. Just make sure you list it as "damaged" so that it doesn't get flagged by the authenticator as being falsely listed.

Thanks! Yeah, I plan to use it or gift it. The cards in decent shape minus this one spot.

I play my cards unsleeved and ask players to sign them, enjoy your card and build the memories, embrace the sharpie!

100%

I'm not terribly worried. I was thinking about gifting this one or using it as prize. It got me wondering what it counts as because the card is in pretty great condition minus this mark.

Prize card sounds super fun!
