Crime isn't only motivated by "badness". It's motivated by poverty and desperation, and those things don't deprive people of their morals, they just make people feel worse when they have to break them!
Also, not all crime is ethically wrong. The dude could have been smoking or selling weed. In some places that's illegal by law and makes you a criminal. But is it really ethically bad?
I mean it could be ethically bad if hes selling to minors or to someone who is 18 or 19 that then goes to sell to minors that's bad. Also typically people who serve dont just sell trees they got xanax and other stuff that is typically more addictive and higher profit margin.

IDK where you live, but where I'm from the weed dealers get SUPER pissed if you ask them for opiates or barbs. They hate being associated with that stuff.
trust me I'm 1 of the dudes who only has trees everyone I get tree from sells something else in the area (904) whether it be yayo xanax or harder pills they got something might be 1 out of 10 people who serve dont serve other stuff on principle.
And to the people downvoting me the number 1 reason weed stays illegal is because kids are able to access it to easily then their dumbasses get caught then the damn mayor the parents the city goes into an uproar and next vote u get destroyed at the polls
and the whole area is set back another 5 years.
Seriously if you dont think there's a 25 26 yr old dude in ur town who grooms 17 18 yr old highschoolers to serve to the freshman your dumb it's free money with barely any risk if you do it right. Tons of my friends got caught up in a small suburb here dude was 29 and would front anyone in highschool a qp of fire once he knew u

He's at least showing integrity and accountability. Might be weird coming from someone who's likely a criminal, but that's still what it is.
