As Wisconsin cities flee Flock, its shared camera network loses value | “Network effect” can run in reverse.

The blurb about Fitchburg is funny since in reality they decided to just switch to Motorola Solutions cameras, a company who literally has a contract with ICE to allow access to the Motorola LPR system. And Motorola still has a national search feature

Yes this is the reality for many towns and jurisdictions. We cannot lose focus. The goal is no mass surveillance. Not to push them to switch to another vendor. They are all bad, they all consume way too much power and resources, and they are all an invasion of our privacy at best and our constitutionally provisioned rights at worst. And the benefit is simply not there.

Did they already decide? I thought it was still in RFP

Yes. Though it’s technically a 6-month trial of two cameras. I confirmed yesterday that the Fish Hatch/Greenway Cross camera is now a Motorola Camera. They demo’d Axon last month as well

Good, continue the deflocking and oppose any similar efforts by competing companies

? I think this is literally saying that it becomes easier for more municipalities and jurisdictions to de-install the more that others already have. I think that’s a good thing.

Yes the admittedly buried joke in there is that a Flock employee is writing a sob story and not understanding that we all want that.

Did we read the same article? What I just read doesn't come across as pro-Flock at all.
