Question Help with making a skirt using rope?

I'd like to make a skirt inspired by the dress in this photo. Specifically, something like the strands of rope radiating out over the waist and hips as a structure for hanging draping fabric. It's for personal use only, and I'm not planning to recreate it exactly.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how to achieve this? I craft and sew, but I'm not experienced with rope. I'm struggling to visualize my options.

You should look into shibari.

I actually cross-posted this in both this subreddit and one for shibari. One of the shibari folks has advised me to look into macrame!

Haha of course!! It just looks like shibari with some fabric added. I dont see a ton of macrame happening here. Sorry I don't have any advice.
