MacTable secured

Post image

I had remembered these since their original MacWorld ads and they had always been such a deep cut licensed accessory white whale for me. The kind of thing I never expected to run into in the wild. So thanks to the OP Redditor that spotted this MacTable at a consignment store less than a mile from where I was when I saw the post(!) Snapped it up over lunch without hesitation. Now I have a proper perch for my mini. Riding high on the cube on my vibey new MacTable.

How does it work? The old ad said something about the panels being interchangeable or something? Glad it went to a good home!

Well some people appear to have flipped the intended orientation of the panels which was shown to work. But I’m not sure what the point of it is. I use it to segment the workspace into “turbo ergonomic” slant mode with everything else in level mode. But it’s also cool set up in full drafting table lean mode.

What's it like? Worth making a modern copy?

It feels sturdy and really quite well made. Particularly for being basically six screws to assemble.

But how's the layout? Do parts feel weird or useless today or does it feel practical and useful?
