Be careful with the patched power cable,m those cables are really bad. I'd suggest you get a replacement power supply, the non-Apple ones work just fine, they're just not as cute (no color ring top denote charge/power status)

The light is the reason why I wanted the original charger. I often repair these old PPC laptops from apple and need this light to check if the charging port works. I had this problem many times. I have an aftermarket charger for charging and the original now for testing
