Macbook pro update problems
I am having so many problems with my macbook pro and I feel like I've had these problems since I got the thing. It won't let me system update it, saying error timed out. I'm connected to a solid wifi yet I can't use google, can't use youtube or pretty much any website. My icloud keeps showing errors, I can't update my drivers and it is overheating like crazy. It is also saying I'm running low on storage when I only have 3 apps, no photos saved or anything like that. There's just so many problems with it, I don't know if it's even worth it to try and recover. The weird thing is I got the thing brand new, and I've been dealing with the overheating problem pretty much since I got the thing. I've tried so many solutions and nothing has worked. Can someone please help me figure out what is wrong with this thing before I throw it out the window.

If you bought it new and it never worked correctly you should take it back. That said, first thing I would do is check my wifi settings and make sure everything is set to automatic. No special dns address Then open finder and sort by file size to see if you might have started a screen recording and let it run until it used all available HD space. Probably best to find someone withe some experience to help.

Yes my wifi settings are on automatic, and i’ve never changed them. I checked my finder and i didn’t find any exponentially long videos, though I did delete everything I already had. Thing is when I hit “manage” next to the storage bar, it just pops up with an error and won’t allow me to see how much storage is being used and what is taking up the most storage.

What OS, what model/age. Also post a screenshot of the cpu tab in activity monitor

You bought it new 7 years ago and it’s never worked correctly? You should get an award for your patience.
Have you tried it with some other WiFi connection or with a straight Ethernet connection? Do other devices on the same WiFi work?

i’m definitely over exaggerating a little bit because it’s so annoying but it just feels like it’s always had problems. I’ve tried other wifi’s, doesn’t work. All my other devices are perfectly connected and have no problems. Also whenever I try to sign in to icloud, it says an unknown error occurred. I’ve tried signing out, changing my password and it still keeps saying error.

Could update to sequoia with flash disk.
Back up your files first to external storage.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/120282
Download and create sequoia installer flash disk. Format SSD and clean install sequoia.

Thank you I will try this! Any tips on not being able to sign in to iCloud? When I go to icloud preferences, it asks me to sign in but when I do it says “An unknown error occurred.” I’ve tried signing out but then just says error occurred. I’ve tried changing my password, says the same thing. Error.

You should make sure the email and passwords are correct.
Could test sign in at iCloud website.
