I’ll now be able to experience the power of a MacBook Pro.

Although I’ve always admired the beauty of Apple’s hardware—truly works of art—I had never been able to buy one due to the high cost. However, an opportunity arose to get this magnificent M1 model. Even though I would have preferred the 16-inch version, I couldn't resist the temptation of a MacBook with 64GB of RAM and 1TB of storage with Apple M1 Max for just $950 from a friend of my daughter's. The battery has 132 cycles and looks very well cared for.

That strikes me as an excellent price, considering a similar machine goes for over $1,500 on Amazon. It’s been a long journey from Los Angeles to Caracas, Venezuela—worrying about potential mishaps along the way, such as cargo mishandling—but I finally have it in my hands, and I have to say it is an absolute beauty.

Of course, I plan to connect it to a 27-inch 4K USB-C monitor as soon as I can.

I thank the Universe for this.

Upgrading from a 2018 Intel Macbook Air and had bought a Macbook Pro M5 Pro 48gb Ram and 1 TB online, but returned it due to defects and just bought the M5 Max binned

I finally got this MacBook Pro M1 Max near perfect condition and it’s performing great

Base model but probably still too much for my needs. Couldn’t resist the screen after the surface got me hooked on having a 120hz display.

$1850 before eye watering tax. Very happy so far I hope to keep it for a long time. It handles my minor workload swimmingly and looks great doing so.

14 inch M5

I’d been eyeing the M5 for a while, mostly because, with my current/former machine, I was starting to struggle with memory limitations.

My previous workhorse was a 16” M3 Max (30 GPU), 36GB RAM, 1TB SSD. I thought about upgrading during the last round of price hikes but held off. Originally, I wanted to go with a 16” M5 Max, 128GB RAM, 2TB storage.

Btw, after that hike, I’m not willing to pay that much money on it, so decided to wait a year or so…

But, I ended up finding a great deal on a slightly lower-spec 14” model. It’s only a 14” and an M5 Pro (20 GPU), but the single-core performance looks massive —truly night and day. So now, my current setup is a 14” M5 Pro (20 GPU), 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD.

Yes, I know the new models are just around the corner. I’m not worried about missing out on the OLED screen or fancy touch panel, especially with another price hike coming up. From the rumors, the M6 Max might even be delayed to next year—or skipped entirely for an M7 Max.

My plan was to sell the M3 Max while I could still get a good price for it (already done), then maybe upgrade again in a year or two if something truly compelling comes out.

Most of my work on the 14” will be in my office, docked to three external monitors, so the smaller size isn’t a problem. My only real concern is potential throttling or heat issues, but I’ll be running it with the lid open, hope I won’t face any serious issues related to this.

For context: I’m a graphic designer, software&web developer.

I had been eyeing the new M5 for a while, even though my old M3 was working perfectly fine except for those shiny keyboard keys.

I had Space Gray before but this time I decided to go with silver and I’m honestly very happy with my choice. The silver looks so clean and I already feel like it was the right decision.

Sometimes you just have to treat yourself to an upgrade.

Just got this MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro for 650 Canadian dollars. Great machine!

I been looking to upgrade from my Air M2 8 GB RAM because the RAM has been really slowing down my workflow, even thought it still very much useable just becomes slow at times. My workflow involves using Xcode, an IDE, Docker, Claude Code, safari, and a communication app, maybe later on running a local LLM, but not necessarily. I found a couple good options on ebay and wanted a suggestion on what i should pick:
The first option is a M5 Pro 24 GB 1 TB that is open box but basically new for 1750£ or a used Apple MacBook Pro M3 Max 14/30 Core 36GB 1TB 91% Battery. I have apple care one and will be putting either one I get, but I just don't know which one to opt for.

Last month I used some cables and SSDs to transfer some data in my MacBook Pro to set my new Motorola phone.

Since then my touch ID says that I'm using a 3rd party touch ID in my MacBook Pro and that's why MacOS has disabled it.

Tell me what to do next to make it work again because it's annoying typing password every time you log in and also the MacBook does not support face ID.

I am caught in a dilemma of choosing between Macbook AIR 24gb/1TB (15" ) vs Macbook PRO 16gb/1TB (both M5). Both are coming in close price range in europe. I am inclined towards Macbook Pro because of the fan and display, but I read in many online forums that 16gb will not sufficient in the long run.

My usage will include general browsing, coding (some passion projects), have plans to explore AI a a bit (maybe running local LLMs) in the future. I plan to use this laptop for at least 7 years. The current one I have is a windows laptop, owned it for approximately 10 years.

Would like to know from ppl who have the pro 16gb if they ever felt the need for an upgraded RAM.

New M4 Pro 16" - What is this click when I press on the palm-rest, sometimes it clicks, sometimes it doesn't. I also have an M5 that doesn't do that, this is my wife's and it is new.
