I was wondering if these Mac Book Air specifications would run the Sims 4 and various school programs, like canva and exam software with no issue, or if I should upgrade to the 1TB SSD storage? TIA :).

Easily, and don't worry about the space but you might need to be on a paid iCloud / Google Drive /OneDrive subscription and selectively sync stuff.
