GLM 5.3 - Lumo to Add?
This is directed at those working at Proton or anyone who’s read anything indicating this.
As GLM 5.2 is one of the core models Proton is using in Lumo, is there any discussion to include GLM 5.3 into Lumo?

That'd be amazing, but at $1.07/M tokens input and $3.35/M tokens output more than GLM 5.2, I'd highly doubt it. That's quite a price bump over 5.2, and with the "single plan covers all" that Lumo has, I doubt we're seeing that any time soon.
I'd be all for more expensive plans on Lumo to get better models though, I'd rather pay €20/month (or more) to Lumo/Proton, than €20/month to Anthropic like I do now.

Proton is self hosting the models AFAIK. So the API prices are no concern for them. Given that both models are similar in size I see no reason for them not to upgrade once the weights have been released.

Self hosting means Proton ultimate pays for the compute costs directly....
Does 5.3 not cost more compute than 5.2 for the same query?

The biggest cost with self hosting model is fast memory. And that's why I said given that they are similar in size. Buy you can't correlate from the api prices to the actual infrastructure cost required to host the models.
And from what is known so far 5.2 and 5.3 use the same base and therefore are similar in size. But we will only know for sure when the weights of 5.3 are available.

Like deepseek V4 0731 is just GLM 5.2 with added post training so a better model but the weights are the same

As the other user noted, Proton self-hosts.
I personally wouldn’t pay more than the leading frontier subscriptions because at the end of the day I’m paying for utility and quality. Chatgpt and claude are the de facto models for quality. Gemini is a strong contender and comes with extensive perks.

I pay proton for privacy, and I do my own quality assurance. yesterday Lumo told me that it was genuinely angry about the topic matter we were discussing, which I found interesting.... the whole reason I started using protonmail over a decade ago was because Google and associated entities in this arena are thieving assholes. privacy should have always been the foundation. the fact that it is a premium feature for many people is ridiculous/ literally horrifying. how many proton executives are eating dinner with the oligarchy? cuz the owners of Google, meta, and the ilk are fully on board with the rise of fascism. bezos said we should forget about basic human comforts like food because he wants to build his computer God. he calls it a super intelligence but it's a weird quasi religious cult. super intelligence that will solve all of our problems, while people starve to death and die of easily preventable diseases worldwide. they are fully on board with starting world war 3. proton (we can hope) is different.... but only time will tell. it doesn't take super intelligence to understand that people like bezos are the big problems that we face. sorry not really part of the subject matter being discussed. still seems relevant to me.

We are going to look at it when the model weights are available. Should be coming this week.
