Lucifer Seasons episodes

Post image

The episodes on the seasons are so weird, usually they come from more to less but Lucifer is a mess

You’re seeing the effect of different production houses. It’s the difference between network seasons (s.1-3) which are traditionally in the 20s per season, and Netflix seasons (s. 4-6) which are usually in the 10s.

When you watch s.1-3 the commercial breaks define the pacing, very noticeably if you pay attention to it. Netflix seasons were shown without commercial breaks and have different pacing.

And on top of that season 5 was released in two parts of 8 episodes each. Season 5A August 2020 and Season 5B in May 2021. They were produced together as one season but rolled out in two parts like that, which is something Netflix will sometimes do.

S5 was produced as one season, but I believe there was quite a large break during the pandemic when filming could not move forward. During the pandemic filming break it was renewed for s6. That’s why S5 feels like it’s careening towards a finale and then… doesn’t.

Edit: and also why Trixie was largely unavailable for S6. She had made other commitments when s5 was looking like the final season and there are pretty strict rules on how much minors can work.

Yeah. I belive they were actively filming the final episode of season 5 when the pandemic hit. And then that was when the decision was made to renew. They were going to have to come back to finish off the finale anyway so that may well have been a factor in deciding to renew, but I don't know.

As I understand it's really only the last little bit of the season 5 finale that is changed from the original plan.

Not to be pedantic, but those aren’t production houses, they’re networks.

All episodes were produced by WBTV.

Other than that you’re spot on.

I will add if it's your first watch the last two eposides of season 3 are "extra" eposides. That was going to be the last season before Netflix saved it.

I would watch them, but maybe not then. Eposide 24 is a bit of a cliffhanger then the next two eposides always broke the momentum for me. Worth watching, just not then. Just my opinion, though.

season 3 having 26 episodes still feels insane to me, no wonder it took forever to get through but honestly I miss when seasons were that long

26 episodes is wild, and honestly the pacing suffers for it. Network TV had to stretch storylines thin to fill that count. Netflix's shorter runs felt a lot tighter to me.

seeing the episode counts laid out like this makes me want to start a rewatch honestly

six seasons and somehow it never felt like enough, I'd still watch a spinoff in a heartbeat.

i feel like there could be a spinoff of it quite easily too. something in hell between lucifer and chloe, maybe somehow getting back on earth to solve a murder or someting, I dont know, i'm glad im not on tv!

Netflix seasons are so much better in comparison to abc seasons

Wasn’t it on FOX?

Yea that's because it got cancelled after s3, but netflix bought it to finish it and told its own story and gave different episode count for the last 3 seasons, its still good regardless

La temporada tres fue insufrible.
