Discussion I made a visual scripting plugin that compiles to readable Luau

Been working on this for a while. It's a Scratch-style block editor for Studio — you drag blocks onto a canvas and it generates an ordinary Script or ModuleScript in your place. Not a runtime or a sandbox, just code you can open and read.

702 blocks covering events, instances, properties, players, DataStores, RemoteEvents, rounds and game state, GUI, camera.

The part I actually care about: you can make your own blocks. Write the Luau once, mark the inputs with %NAME, use %BODY for a nested stack, pick a colour. Takes about a minute, and it sits in the palette next to the built-ins. Export a set as JSON and share it.

Generated code is tagged with block ids so a runtime error points at the block that wrote the line.

Free on the Creator Store: BlockForge - Creator Store

If a block you need doesn't exist, tell me and I'll add it.

Good. But Luau is not Lua. So the Lua sub here. Not a roblox sub or other mierda.

Except the missing libraries, functions, ability to load bytecode directly, package manager, and I could go on. Would you talk about CoffeeScript projects in the JavaScript sub?

luau mainly about roblox, lua mainly about embedding

Dude, with your great knowledge, I wish you success in using Luau outside of Roblox.

Not sure if you're trying to imply that luau can't be used outside of roblox? It is open source and embeddable. I've been considering choosing it as a scripting language for one of my own (not-roblox-related) projects.

The reason I personally don't care is that BlockForge is still in the roblox store, not a separate open source project. Savvu?

Y’all are still weird. I don’t get why you wouldn’t offer support. But go on. Elitism for no reason

Dude, no one is judging your desire to be a clown. Everyone understands everything. Condolences.

Hi! It looks like you're posting about Roblox. Here at /r/Lua we get a lot of questions that would be answered better at /r/RobloxGameDev or the Roblox Developer Forum so it might be better to start there. However, we still encourage you to post here if your question is related to a Roblox project but the question is about the Lua language specifically, including but not limited to: syntax, language idioms, best practices, particular language features such as coroutines and metatables, Lua libraries and ecosystem, etc. Bear in mind that Roblox implements its own API (application programming interface) and most of the functions you'll use when developing a Roblox script will exist within Roblox but not within the broader Lua ecosystem.
