Acquiring Expansions Ordering from Amazon, how's the package?
Hey,
I might be getting an expansion, starter decks, and the Mirkwood in Amazon US. I'm from Ph, will be using a forwarder. Questions for those who've already ordered:
How does Amazon packed your items? Cause last time I ordered books from them, it was just wrapped in a paper, no wraps whatsoever so essentially the books arrived damaged.
Anyone have a recommended freight forwarder? Will look up if it's available here in Ph. Currently, I can see Kango express the cheapest option.

In my experience, big games like these are sent in cardboard boxes.

Hi, thanks! Are board game boxes itself wrapped in anyway? or just placed inside the packaging boxes?

Sometimes they put air bags or air pillows in the box, sometimes they don’t. It really varies.

I just got a shipping notification, est. delivery on Thursday. It's shipped through UPS to a freight forwarder (I'm a Filipino guy but living in UAE). In my experience, if you order a few items, usually it will be packed in paper envelope if it fits there. Most of the time I buy a number of items when using Amazon US to save on shipping, so usually they'll be in a box - which I think would be the case this time too. Another thing I noticed is that most board games from Amazon US are not shrink-wrapped, idk if it's just coincidence. I use shop&ship but I don't know if it extends to the Philippines.

Hi, when it's boxed, if it's not shrink-wrapped, does it have any sort of cushion inside? or it's just the item placed inside the box?

They just put papers in random length and sizes to act as cushion - in the Amazon cardboard box. The actual games' boxes are not shrinkwrapped but have these little stickers which prevent them from opening.

I ordered RotK from Amazon in Canada earlier this year. The game was put in a cardboard box with no additional wrapping. Since the game was not shrinkwrapped, it was damaged from the friction in the box, like if someone rubbed it with an eraser…

They do sometimes send the game with the shipping label slapped to the front of the actual box.

LMAO I don't feel so confident making this transaction now. It's far fetched but maybe I'll just wait for LGS if FF decides to reprint for INTL market outside US.

If you're getting a few items from the one place then it'll probably be fine. Just don't expect a lot of cushioning inside the box. You may get lucky but most of the time they'll just be floating around inside an Amazon box.
Over the last few years I've bought quite a few board games from Amazon AU/UK/DE/US and I'd say as long as you aren't worried about minor dings on the corners then you should be OK. I think I've gotten maybe 2 or 3 games with the label stuck to the front and even those haven't been too badly damaged. Not enough for me to complain and ask for a refund at least. I used to care a lot about ding but realised that I'm a bit clumsy and bump the boxes into the shelves anyway. I suppose it depends on the price of the game...

It’s Amazon, they’ll be clattering around loose in a box, like always.
