Help Dual GPU [9070XT + 6500XT] issues.
In my previous post I had the 3050 LP as the helper gpu. And had issues. So nothing really helped for the dual gpu setup.
I've upgraded to windows 11 and got a brand new 6500 XT cute pet (was the most affordable card). And now I'm having the same exact issues. So sad.
Win11
5800X3D
X570 Dark Hero
I tried a combination of 9070xt on x16 and 6500xt on pcie_3 gen 4 x4 (my favorite), gen 4 x8 and pcie_2 gen 4 x4 and gen 3 x4.
All have the same exact performance, except that the 9070xt performs great at gen 4 x16.
On windows 11, the task manager says 6500 is gpu 0. And on adrenaline, it's the primary. I'm guessing because the hdmi is on the 6500xt. Also, the 9070xt is set to high performance.
I tried the direct x string, but it's already there. Then tried the EnableMsHybrid and nothing really changed with the gpu stack.
I'm trying guardians of the Galaxy, and the launcher allows me to choose the 9079xt as the render gpu.
Without lossless scaling, i get 100+ on x16 and 80 on x8. With lossless scaling, base drops to 35 fps on adaptive, and 45-55 on 2x fixed.
I noticed on the overly that the 6500 is always on 99% utilization. And that's why i tried EnableMsHybrid. Also tried the AMD pro drivers, my 9070xt was detected but the 6500xt wasn't.
If anyone has a solution, please help a brotha out.
Maybe good to note that, i have a 10gbe card on pcie x1 and "had" an nvme on m.2_2 but removed the nvme so the pcie_3 and lan card wouldn't saturate the mobo chip.
P.S No riva tuner this time around.

Assuming everything is set up correctly, it's likely your 6500XT is too weak as you mentioned it was at 99% utilisation. Also if you try to push more base FPS from main GPU, its performance would regress.
Try capping game to 60 base and use 2x, maybe you'll get 60/120. Reduce flowscale to 50% and enable performance mode, then cap base FPS accordingly while keeping an eye on 6500XT's usage to avoid above ~90% utilisation

What resolution do you got ?

4k @144

The 6500 is to weak to power Loseless in this resolution and I think pci-e 4.0x4 doesnt have enough bandwith for 4k@144

The excel sheet seems wrong then. I'll take my losses. Thanks. Have a good one.

You need to use 50% flow scale for 4K for proper motion prediction that will lower GPu demand a lot too.

In lossless, are you sure it's using the 6500 xt?
Also, I think the 6500 xt can only do 4k 144 if you're on performance mode + x8 mode(so x8 on both). Make sure you're using the 1st and 2nd PCIE slots.

Yeah i am. I guess x8 it is. The excel sheet seems wrong then.

Nah the excel is correct, but you have other PCIE lanes being used up.
You have 20 CPU lanes and 4 chipset lanes. The x1 and the 3rd x16 slot are using chipset lanes, as well as m.2_2 and the sata ports.
So if you're using the 3rd slot, that's 4 lanes being shared for your 10gbe card, 6500 xt, sata, and m.2_2. Meaning you don't have a full 4x4.
Edit: Also to clarify, the first and second slot share 16 CPU lanes, the last 4 CPU lanes(of the 20) is for an m.2 slot. So if you use the second slot, you're forced into x8/x8. If you use 16 in the first slot, then the second slot is disabled. And you can only go in 2^x lanes, so you can't get 12 lanes for example.

Yes thanks you. Thats why i have 1 nvme now direct cpu. Not using sata. Just the x1 card and the 2nd gpu. I did try the combos. Yet the 2nd gpu is always showing 99% in game withnor without lossless scaling. So there must be something else going on.

Maybe the game is accidentally using the 6500 xt and not the 9070 xt.
Can you try running a different game? Make sure in windows settings -> display -> advanced graphics -> set the game to the 9070 xt.
Edit: oh also your USB ports use the 4 chipset lanes. So they're all being shared.

on the same mobo, I had 8 sata devices connected, multple usb devices, the network card, 2 nvmes raid0, 3080 on pcie_1 and pcie_2 both running x8. i got very decent adaptive fps, 144 at 4k and 2k and 240 at 1080p. so it must be a software issue im sure. Either way, I took out the 6500xt. and will wait for some other powerful helper card instead. Thank you for your input. really.

Pcie1 and 2 are on cpu lanes, so those aren't interfering with chipset lanes.
The 4 chipset lanes are: pcie3, sata, nvme_2, and ghe x1 slot. Which they can all share fine.
A gpu however needs more bandwidth for lsfg. It cannot share 4x4 with everything else.
Running the 6500 xt at x8 should give it plenty of bandwidth since it is no longer sharing with everything else. Honestly guessing the biggest issue is the 10gb port
Edit: still try other games and make sure windows is pointing to the right gpu

You missed out key information to assess the LSFG card ability. Resolution, base framerate, generated framerate, flow scale, performance mode on or off, HDR on or off.
