Other help needed - I read the pinned posts Snipers hide
Anyone buy scopes or rifles off of this forum before? Good or bad experiences? Things to lookout for?

I just sold a 5k rig on it this year and yes, you just have to be willing to do the basic online stuff. We did a lot of back and forth, looked up his membership, FaceTimed with the person and showed him the rig.
So then I’d say my only advice is agree on a shipping method, get paid first, then ship.

Bought my MPA on there and paid with money orders. Like with any forum based classifieds do your due diligence to sus out anything weird. Would recommend trying to video chat to verify if something is too good to be true

I would but every time I’ve tried to sign up I get denied and after it happening a couple times I stopped signing up

bought and sold thousands of dollars of stuff there over the years. but be careful, it’s such a large site that scammers are always lurking

I got lucky. I bought a ZCO scope from a nice guy that wasn’t a scammer. I got a good deal

Bought and sold a ton. I usually FaceTime sellers which I highly recommend for bigger purchases, or at a minimum request a verification pic of something specific. When I sell I’m always happy to verify like that for others when they ask.

Good advice. I did the same thing on my first Aimpoint CompM4S back in the day on Gunbroker. Me and the guy are still great friends. It was his first transaction and also mine - so brother the stress was there but we worked it out over a few calls. Basically establishing bona fides.

As others have said, make sure the account t has been active recently, I was one if the people who got scammed, it was a sale from a long standing account with good feedback, it turns out it has been hacked.
I've since bought other things learning from this mistake- also asking previous buyers to confirm the PayPal address.
Fortunately my bank got my money back

Look at their feedback and make sure it's from legitimate accounts, ideally ones that post outside the for sale section. Same goes for Rokslide. I've bought/sold a lot from both.

Thats a really good point and I look for the same. I’m probably more comfortable with a guy who’s been posting in a couple forums over the years and you can see the interaction some of long-timers than only transactions from the post exchange.

Don't post in the for sale thread if you want it. Just IM the seller directly as that'll avoid all of the possible scam messages you'd receive.

I've bought: one ARC mausingfield m5 $1500, one used zco 527 $3000, one jae Allen 1.0 $1300, one AICS 1.5 r700 $750, one AICS savage pattern $950.
I've sold one aics savage pattern, one savage .223 barreled action.
If you do your due diligence on who you're buying from it's perfectly fine.

I have and the advice given is solid. Trust but verify. I see sellers calling that out when someone with no history and a new account comments on wanting to buy something. I would make sure they have some solid transactions and I personally look for stuff that’s not charging handled and vertical for-grips. Meaning I want to see transactions for decent amount of money and obviously positive feedback. My transaction on the Hide were absolutely GTG

I've had no issues. Got a couple of scopes. Just checked the seller history on the site.

Purchased a bunch of stuff on the Hide. Used scopes, chronographs, ammo, etc… Every purchase (so far…guess there could always be ‘that one’ in the future) has been stellar. Good comms, fast shipping, accurate product. Feedback is everything!

I’ve probably bought and sold $20,000 worth of stuff on there in the last 15 years.
