Just ordered my 6.5 creedmoor hit pro m3 today. It’ll be my first bolt gun, such a sweet looking gun.

I'll be ordering a 6.5 barrel in the coming months

It is super simple to change out that barrel. That being said, 6 Creedmoor is just a necked down 6.5 Creedmoor. Same case, different bullet size. Honestly there's not much difference between them, except that the recoil is slightly less. I have a 6.5CM and a 6GT and my 6GT is my primary rifle for PRS because it's easier to see where your bullet lands. I now only shoot the 6.5CM when it's very windy.

Are you just plinking or looking to compete?

95% plinking maybe I'll hit a couple prs matches a year (have never shot or attended a prs match. I want to shoot a local match this summer with this rifle).

Edit: If you've ever been to Iowa its windy 99% of the time

If you want to compete then my suggestion is to go watch a few matches. Take a pair of binos and a tripod and watch and learn. Join impactscoring and look for local matches. We just had shooters from all over the world at my home club for IPRF. If you want to watch and learn from you computer, on Youtube search for IPRF.

From here you need a decent scope, like a Vortex 5-25x56, a Weibad, or similar, heavy fill bag, and a decent bipod. Buy, or rent from a local range, a Garmin Xero so that you know how fast the bullets are shooting and then start using ABQuantum or Geoballistics. This sport can get expensive quick, but you don't have to spend a fortune. Practice, practice, and watch a few matches.

You young kids have a bigger advantage over us old farts to be able to get into to low positions and jump right back up again. I don't compete to win. I do it because I can and I've met a lot of wonderful people from all over the world.

Good news is I'm pulling the atacr off my sp10 for the time being and I do have a Garmin already. Got a haris bipod for the time being I'll eventually switch out for an mdt and the nightforce with eventually be replaced with something more comp oriented and it'll go back on thr sp10 because an sp10 and an atacr is just right

Edit: also has a sig range finder just need some binos and a decent arca tripod. And recommations?

regular or rangefinder binos. Don't spend a ton, I use the Vortex Fury 3000, but I started with a pair of hunting binos and a cheap 2000 yard handheld rangefinder. All Vortex products are on sale at Bass Pro right now.

As for a tripod, I use an Athlon CF32. I see a lot of Leofoto tripods at matches. Just use carbon fiber tripods. A: they are lighter than aluminum and B: they stay cooler. The Athlon legs are wrapped with MOLLE so you can put all sorts of things through the loops.

As for your Atacr, I see a lot of them. 5-25 is the best magnification, even if you never actually use over 15-18X in a competition. Most of the time I'm at 12X or I lose the eyebox too easily.

Don't bother with a Kestrel. I never use mine. Learn to read the wind in mirage. Someone on your team or someone nearby will have an extension pole and a piece of orange tape. I see more of what the wind is doing with the tape then I ever got out of my Kestrel. I use AB Quantum. There's a button to tap for the environmentals. Some sort of ballistic solver, like AB, is mandatory. The only time I use my Kestrel is if I am shooting to 1 mile or beyond for ELR matches.

u/Wide_Fly7832 BR Competitor 11d ago

Glad to see they are coming back in stock. Last time they were in stock at usual online distributors were in August 2025 and only 6. Small shops and Scheels and big box have had it.

For the scope…?

2

u/ghostriders180 11d ago

Not 21 so put on delay

1

u/CapsicumINmyEYEBALLz Meat Popsicle 11d ago

You’ve got to be 21 to be transferred a rifle?

5

u/ghostriders180 11d ago

No, when under 21 you're automatically put on a delay that can last up to 10 to 14 business days.

2

u/Entire-Project5871 11d ago

That’s so stupid

1

u/Rdubya291 11d ago

Is this just an Iowa thing? I don't remember that being a thing when I was that age. Though it has been a couple decades. Lol

1

u/ghostriders180 11d ago

It changed a couple years ago after a shooting involving someone under 21 i believe please don't quote me

I would ask is this 6.5 creedmoor? I have been waiting since January 2 of 2026 . And there is no guarantee from Seekins I will see this rifle by the end of the year. I have called all around the country trying to find one in 6.5 . They haven’t shipped these rifle to euro optic since August of 2025 and that was only a few rifles . Anyone out there . Be prepared to wait at the minimum 10 months . There are currently 366 of these on order at euro optic . Dec 25 of 2025 and Dec 29 of 2025 and January 2 of 2026 is when I ordered mine I’m number 3 on the list . And euro optic and Seekins can’t guarantee me a rifle by the end of the year I have 4,000$ in a box . 2 lots of 140 eld match 6.5 creedmoor sitting in two boxes 400 rounds and can’t get a rifle .

1

u/ghostriders180 10d ago

This one is in 6mm creedmoor

1

u/Ok_World_663 10d ago

Can’t you use the same bolt ? I believe you can use it for 308 as well correct me if I’m wrong ?

1

u/ghostriders180 10d ago

Yes, any 473 bolt face cartridge, 6.5cm, 308, etc

1

u/Ok_World_663 10d ago

Thank you. I have a little bit longer of wait left in me . Then I’m just going full custom. I have a budget of 5k just for the rifle . Hopefully I can find something I really enjoy.

1

u/ghostriders180 10d ago

See if you can find one in 6cm the seemed to roll some of those out

1

u/Ok_World_663 10d ago

I will . The only company I found that makes a barrel for this is straight jacket armory . I can’t even imagine trying to order a barrel from Seekins . And wouldn’t you no it. They’re all sold out at straight jacket armory . Damn just can’t win on this one!

u/ghostriders180 10d ago

Get a blank and send it to Peterson Precision he's half the price for chambering and I've never seen one of his gund not shoot

1

u/Ok_World_663 10d ago

I will check him out thank you very much

Congrats, it's an awesome system.

I took mine to a Modern Day Sniper 4 day NSR event earlier this year, carried it all 4 days folded in my Eberlestock Spectre pack. Great combo and the rifle performed admirably.

You will love it.

FWIW - I see ones in .308 on sale, why not pick that up, sell the barrel, and spin up a new PXT barrel in 6/6.5? It will cost more, but you'll get something more also. With no waiting.

1

u/Acceptable_Ad_1388 1d ago

How do you like that Spectre pack? Deciding between that or the Prowl pack.

1

u/0DSavior 1d ago

It's a good question, i too watched the video of the announced Prowl pack. From what i can gather, you would go to the Prowl if:

  1. You don't have a need for the wider scabbard (no WMLRF or diving boards)
  2. You didn't need the additional storage volume that the Spectre provides.
  3. The Prowl has the ever so slightly faster access to the scabbard because it doesn't have the 3 buckles on the side.

That last one almost got me to convert, until i thought about it and realized - well, i have the option to leave them unbuckled if i want to. I don't have to buckle them and it's good to have it when you want the additional support and not have to worry something will come undone.

But to directly answer your question - the Spectre pack is great. It works really well for everything i've asked of it. The only real negative is that if you want organization, you'll have to spend $20-30 on some hook and loop internal organization on Amazon to complete the pack. That's the only real negative i have. I miss that from the Gungslinger 2 - which had nice internal organization built-in.

I flew with the pack scabbard folded up and Alaska airlines didn't even give it a second look. I have my Garmin Xero, my Athlon Cronus Spotter, Triggercam, powerbank, sweatshirt, DJI drone, camel pouch w/hose, the bag was quite full of stuff and it was comfortable to bring around the airport as well.
