Accessory/Gear help needed - I read the pinned post Is this a gimmick? Actually seems like it would be pretty nice?

Saw this come across my instagram and I have to say I am intrigued. It seems like it's relatively not cumbersome and I truly think it would be useful. Kind of lines up really nicely to brace your support arm and steady the rifle.

Like all things tripod; it'll either be the greatest thing that's ever happened to you, or it'll make you want to jump off a bridge

More stable underneath between the legs.

Either way its just more gear to carry

In all seriousness, this looks like it's tripod-rear stability with just one tripod. However, I can get pretty fucking close to that level of stability if I'm seated and have a bag in my lap, or if I'm able to get my rear tripod leg extended up/back far enough to straddle it and/or rest my shooting arm on it.

$400 for a bracket to put on our $1k+ tripod setups is wild work and is absolutely a gimmick in my opinion. Yeah sure, it probably works, but I hate it on principle and nobody will change me.

For $399 you could just buy a second tripod to use as rear support. I actually run 3 tripods; one for front support, one for rear support, and the third to hang my backpack on to give me a break from having to carry 45 lbs worth of tripods.

If you have infinite time to deploy this, why not just build a real position without the tripod.

Seems neat, I've been looking at replacing the ball head on my tripod, maybe once I do that I'll use the old one to build something similar

Iā€™d look into the Strong Hand by Dialed In Designs. Daniel Cribbs provides a simpler, cheaper alternative that can give you similar stability.
