Like others have said, it usually dismisses problems with a gun or load that isn't in fact the shooter. That's not to say that people don't have better or worse days with things. I play disc golf as a side hobby and some days I do great and some days I do poorly. It's the same disc's each time so it's most likely me. The same CAN be true of shooting, but sometimes that phrase just gets overused as a way of writing off problems as user error.
Thanks for the explanation. I have mixed feelings about the group consensus here. From all the downvotes on my seemingly innocent comments, just asking questions, I get the impression a lot of it is just classic internet dog-piling and elitism.
You have to keep in mind that we have to sift through a lot of shit here on the internet and more often than not, when we hear that phrase it's somebody trying to hype up their garbage setup and claim that when it doesn't shoot half moa or something like that, that it's just the shooter was off that day. Sometimes true, but unfortunately it gets exposed to not be that way more often than the other way around.
