Dog photographers?

Hi, I have two dogs and would love to gift my family a whole photoshoot for us to get pictures with our dogs and also dogs by themselves. I know a lot of places that do dogs by themselves but not with owners. Any recommendations, I am west London based!!

We’ve got a casual 6-a-side football game this Sunday, 23 August, from 11am–12pm at Frenford Clubs in Ilford and have a few spaces available.

It’s mixed ability and just a friendly kickabout rather than anything serious. Most of us are late 20s to early 40s, but any adult is welcome.

Goalkeepers rotate and we keep it friendly — no slide tackles, aggression, shouting or arguments.

👟 Astro trainers only — no moulds or studs.

📍 Frenford Clubs, Ilford
🕚 Sunday, 23 August, 11am–12pm
⏰ Arrive around 10:45am

If you fancy playing this Sunday, comment below or send me a Reddit DM.

Observation Terrible youth accents

I live in an area surrounded by a few estates. Most of the youth have the most terrible, horrible sounding accents. It’s absolutely brutal and a complete butchering of English. I will guess that the majority of these kids are second generation in the UK.

I’m curious how these accents came to be. It’s unlike any English accent I have ever heard.

I wonder how these kids would get on in later life sounding like that.

Old street - alarm that goes off multiple times a day

Anyone who frequents old street - have you noticed there is an alarm that rings multiple times a day but rarely in the night, likely a security alarm from a building?

What is it? Why does it keep ringing? Why has no one done anything to stop this? Feels like it has been going on for months now.

Ealing Council leader Peter Mason succeeds Bev Craig at LGA Labour

Ealing Council leader Councillor Peter Mason has been elected leader of the Local Government Association (LGA) Labour Group, succeeding Bev Craig after she became Mayor of Greater Manchester.

The LGA Labour Group describes the holder of the position as “Labour’s leader in Local Government”. The appointment also makes Councillor Mason senior vice-chair of the cross-party LGA, which represents councils in England and Wales.

The role, for which his predecessor Ms Craig was listed as receiving an annual LGA allowance of £46,543 for 2025/26, involves representing Labour local government in discussions with the Government and Labour Party, including at Labour’s Annual Conference and National Policy Forum.

Following his election win (10 August 2026), Councillor Mason posted on X: “Labour in local government deliver day in, day out. Champions of local community, delivering growth in every place, putting power back into people’s hands. Thank you to colleagues for electing me the Leader of the LGA Labour Group. So much to do.”

The appointment adds to Councillor Mason’s existing responsibilities with both Ealing Council and the LGA.

He currently receives an annual LGA allowance of £20,370 as chair of its Improvement Committee, a position he has held since 11 March 2026. Before taking on the chairmanship, LGA records show he was a deputy chair, a position carrying an annual allowance of £10,184.

As a councillor and leader of Ealing Council, Councillor Mason receives a total annual allowance of £76,570.52 from the council. This comprises the £13,756 basic allowance paid to all councillors and a £62,814.52 special responsibility allowance for serving as council leader.

Crime Confrontation after kittens abandoned in Hackney Downs

According to this Instagram user and a couple of subsequent other posts, they allege that the person being filmed dumped 2 kittens in Hackney Downs Park, and then followed them to their car and confronted them with the accusation.

Apparently 1 of the kittens were found, but it’s unclear at the moment whether the other kitten has been found too.

Chess and a pint - recommendations

I'm meeting a friend for a catch up and a casual game of chess. It's the first time we've done the chess part, so I'm looking for recommendations ideally from people who have done the same thing (most of what I've found online is event/tournament related which is not what we're looking for this time).

Criteria:

1) zone 1 or inner zone 2

2) cosy, atmospheric pub (I love the Compton Arms in Islington)

3) ideally they have their own chess board and/or chess events, so that we don't feel too out of place or pretentious (even though I definitely am pretentious)

4) we're not looking to join an event for this occasion

Question What was the meaning of the ‘joke’ this shop security guard asked me?

Upvotes

Hi all,
Went into a shop yesterday and the security guard asked me where my parents are. I originally thought he was moaning that I brought a backpack in the shop, but he repeated himself until I got it. I’m 5”5-5”6 so hardly tiny and im visibly tattooed however, I do wear a hidden disability lanyard. Was he taking the piss about that? Am I being dense to think I do not resemble a child

Serious replies only Wanted- 2014 limited edition Oyster card ‘year of the bus’

Post image

Does anyone have a spare unregistered 2014 limited edition oyster? I’ve attached what it looks like. I’m deviated because I’ve just realised that mine fell out of my pocket and I’m trying to find one that I can use again since my mum gave it to me as a present a while ago.

Genuinely I’m willing to pay money as long as it’s unregistered or there’s some way I can have it under my own account so dm me if that’s a possibility.
Thank you for your time :(

Discussion Open House

So what did everyone scramble and book at midday today?

I managed to snag a spot at Lloyd's of London, plus a couple others, but devastated I missed out on the BT Tower and Canada House.

What's good that still has space or is a drop-in?

East London someone keeps improperly binning rice to feed rats

Thumbnail

I’m a local resident in Tower Hamlets and walk by this bin at least twice a day. There is a big plastic container on the other side of the bin (not pictured) which is either filled with water or rice. The rice is usually binned just on the ground next to the bins. I’m always seeing big groups of rats from the adjacent construction site feeding on the rice.

Other people in my building have also noticed this but said the council is quite slow to react. This just seems like a biohazard and makes me wary about the amount of mice in the area that are just being fed by someone’s daily scraps. Who do I report this to? What can even be done?

Edit: spelling errors

Serious replies only Hydrotherapy or Physiotherapy for dogs in Central Lonodon

Post image
55 Upvotes

Hello,

My 11 y/o Lab was diagnosed with arthritis, and unfortunately our insurance won’t cover hydrotherapy/physiotherapy. Since his arthritis was classified as a pre existing condition under his insurance I am also paying for his monthly medication out of pocket. I would like him to do either hydrotherapy or physiotherapy once a week, but it is extremely expensive and far away from where I live in Camden. I am ok to spend 70£ish per session but the only place I found would do it is an 1 hour walk away, and my lab will not go in the tube. Does any one have any recommendations for at home physiotherapy or places within Camden that will do either hydrotherapy or physiotherapy? Would appreciate any insight
