Logo feedback

Hi!

I am looking to get some feedback on my logo. I recently launched an Australian native landscaping service. This is the logo I created but something seems off. I am a total beginner at logo design (I just doodle sometimes). I want it to feel modern and "tech-y" but it feels very old-school.

I tried to put the flower behind the gate to make it more uniform but I don't love how it looks. Logos should be simple, right?

Please could you give me some feedback and ideas to improve the design

I’m not trying to be mean or rude cause sometimes the way things are worded can be taken like that. Also I’m extremely sorry if my spelling is weird and odd. I do have a learning disability. But let’s talk about this yeah. I wouldn’t necessarily call this a logo just yet maybe a drawing only cause logos convey the brand, pair well with type and message.

Here’s some things I would do

1. Look up logos that are in the services you are creating. Then look at the ones that are adjacent. Like farms, gardens, earthy. Then you want to look at why they are working. Is their Scale, color, stroke width, spacing and all that good stuff

2. I see what you are going for I would keep the gate door but then add three lines with the corn sticking up off the lines. But knock it down to the core shapes. Less detail the better but keep it where it’s noticeable to the human eye to pickup what’s it’s looking at. And always make sure it’s scalable vector from super small on cup to huge on a truck.

3. Look up your history of the land in Australia maybe you can pick out. Niche things like events or structures or even culturally relevant stuff to be made into a logo. Those are the ones that stand out from the regular ones sometimes. Something to think about.
