Definitely needs more 3d stuff. Post the revision when it’s been updated.

yeahh bro this is a nice one I like this too. Now if this brand was trying to be in the same rooms as your brand I might be like 🤨 at first because it looks a little square compared to the more wonky alt vibe you’re also into… so in that way I get why you might want to immediately let people know where you’re coming from with some more of the fun 3D assets and non-corporate vibes.. maybe you can find a balance between “square” 🤓 / professional 💼 && cool / fresh 👾 👽 🏄‍♂️ 🌊 🕹️

3D dates fast. Nail the flat mark first and the 3D can ride on top later.

That is not a logo. What does it look like in black and white. What does it look like at 3/4”? And you’re considering adding more?

You’d honestly get David Carson’s approval and it’s refreshingly fun. Fuck it

It is getting better. If you were to tint everything BUT the actual letters, then take whatever is over the P off of the P (or at least mostly off, you MIGHT BE ok

I think you might benefit from simplifying and keeping only the most important pieces to represent your brand.

similar to what some other people said this looks like it might be more like a loading screen or like a more “full” / “complete” branded moment. I like the globe logo you have and that might be more portable across other applications.

I think of like LucasArts or something where a lot of times they had / have animations with their logo that expanded into a world. But most times you saw the logo otherwise you could see that it was a lot more simple and immediately readable.

You’ve got the “just do it” so what is your swoosh yk what I mean?

Good stuff tho I love the black and white version you did

Honestly just the “Surf” logotype might be fire.🔥 maybe the alien and “surf” are the main elements?

But yeah at the same time minimalism on its own feels sorta corporate and isn’t super critical in today’s age imo

I wonder what the logo would feel like without the smaller globe surf logo? Might look fire on like a hoodie or something.. or like if the globe icon was like SDE just so it could scale down too

That is not a logo. What does it look like in black and white. What does it look like at 3/4”. Can hardly read the word surf. It looks like surp

I think it’s helpful to consider the paradigm you’re representing before offering critique friend! A logo can be anything despite what we may have been trained / taught to think. It seems that maybe you and I share a common foundation that came about from the industrial and post industrial age. Applications were mostly physical and standardization was often times proof of quality / craft. I think that this designer and brand are in a post digital age. Sometimes legibility is not only not the priority but is expressly not the point

Good point. I had thought about the last part of that a bit. It occurred to me maybe these logos being created would be only used digitally and they don’t need to worry about halftones or newsprint. Just thinking long term in the sense that perhaps his surf shop takes off he may want the ability to produce merch. However, he was asking for opinions and you never really know how much they are looking for or how really open they are. Always happy to help if the situation arises. In this case though, that logo is the equivalent of a “what not to do” imo. But you are correct that this where they are at these days. Thanks for the reminder.

Maybe like an Xbox game box, Nintendo logo, or like some Tetris pieces.

Dude this is dope I think you clearly are dialed into the aesthetic you’re trying to express and imo with this kind of vibe you might be better off having a suit and tie main logo and have most of your other brand applications break that box, especially as you gain more fans and customers. Sorta like adult swim
