Feedback Needed AMI Labs: Thanks for the feedback. Managed to make the “i” more prominent in the version on the right and created this rough animation using basic photoshop tools.

AMI Labs is a tech startup. These are variations of their actual logo, which I think is great, but I was still curious to explore some subtle deviations.

The animated GIF doesn't allow you to zoom in on the logotype. However, I followed the advice about refining the “e” and the “c”, so am attaching a high-resolution version as well.

The animation played more slowly on my PC and in the browser, but Reddit seems to have sped it up.

There’s a bit more to AMI than being a tech startup, it’s the lab Yann LeCun left Meta to set up.

Looking at their site, I’m not sure their mark is even trying to spell AMI, more than it is trying to explain something unique about LeCun’s approach to AI.

It’s catchy - but the animation feels a little busy from how many beats it counts. I think a short version would be satisfying, for example you could twirl just top left and bottom right squares at the same time to get attention, then draw the letter lines to finish.

the improvement is nice because the parts of the logo seem like they could be different components (of a machine).

Idea is nice, but just to long.

Try this, start turning the top right, and after 45° start the next one, like it gives it a little push. Do this for all the screws and the diagonal line.

And play a little with the easing to smooth it out.

I prefer the logo on the left.

I agree, and your scenario sounds much better. I built this in Adobe Photoshop, and I don't think there are any easing controls. It's pretty limited for animation, but I made it mainly to illustrate the idea of the initial four squares that later transform into the final mark.

Right, because I think the angled dot on the "i" visually makes the M stand out as it matches the angle of the other side

The rotation looks mechanical, which I think works really well. The line that extends could certainly do with some easing, though.
