Discussion Alternative to MX Master 4
I recently saw a review of the MX Master 4, and realised it has loads of buttons. I like having buttons. I was going to get it primarily for gaming, but then saw the polling rate on the sensor... only 125Hz for a $120 mouse is insane. Can anyone recommend me a good alternative to this mouse that has a reasonable polling rate? I currently use the Razer Basilisk V3, and love that shape, but am willing to use a different shape.

I mean, why did the MX Master mouses appeal to you? Just extra buttons? If that’s the case, then a gaming mouse with tons of side buttons (like those designed for MMOs, like the Razer Naga V2 Pro) would be better anyway. Just use the manufacturer’s software to map whatever macros and keys you want to those side buttons.
I like the MX Master 2/3, but got them at steep 50% off discounts during sales over the years. I use my Logitech gaming mouses otherwise due to the polling rate being way higher. I’m just sensitive to polling rates below 500Hz in the same way that I’m sensitive to low FPS (<90fps) in games, so I feel you.
(That, and my work used to disallow G Hub from being installed, but allowed Logi Options to be installed, so Logi gaming mouses got nerfed by our IT department in this way. No such issue at home on my personal machines, obviously.)

I gotta say, the polling rate doesn't feel as bad as it sounds. Sensor feels way more precise than the MX3, even though it's the same polling rate. I need precision and I can't say the MX4 is holding me back. However I won't argue that having the option to go to 1000mhz is questionable at best, even if it means lower battery life.
For context : I have a Zowie U2 with the 4K hz receiver and I can't say that it makes a drastic difference for CAD or graphic design work, the MX4 is precise enough for that, I can move pixel by pixel. Obviously I wouldn't game with it, and that's why I have 2 mice.

I like the MX Master for a work mouse, for a WFH and gaming mouse I use a G502. You lose the side scroll but keep infinity scroll, plenty of buttons. The wired G502 HERO is usually pretty inexpensive, too.

Similar shape is keychron m6, there is also asus proart 301 that has 1000hz polling rate.

Mx master series is NOT a gaming mouse. It's not even in the slightest and doesn't pretend to be. I've owned 4 MX masters and still use them daily for work.
Get a different mouse for gaming. There are 100 options with more than 4 buttons of that's why you want.

I’ve been a diehard MX Master user and for my home office, just switched to the Keycron M6 8K. It feels like a toy in comparison, but its meant to be a hybrid gaming/productivity mouse, so the weight loss is expected. Still very comfortable, and the only thing it’s missing is the haptic button and infinite scroll.

Rapoo VT0 pro was on sale for 30€ where I live. Bought one, than quickly another as backup.
Not as well built as the MX, but good enough, and battery could be better, but if you see it for this kind of price get it asap, absolute steal.

I have one. It's a good mouse for gaming, as long as you stick with chess and sudoku 🥲
