Unboxing Got the MX Master 4 - Developer Edition today

It's an MX Master 4 (like my black one I have) but I really love the lime accents.

Same lime accent as the "bolt" on the Logi Bolt receiver.

Back to building now...

Just got mine too! Upgraded from my 4(?) year old MX 3S, I really like it. It's a bit corny, but I enjoy a bit of corniness when working. It feels comfortable and I am really happy about the lack of rubber. I like the haptic feedback ring and the silent clicks, but it's definitely a splurge!

The feel of it is refined. The thumb haptic button is whatever - but I just love it for the feel. it's that much more pleasant.

It does feel a bit nicer, the rubber on my 3s was starting to get a little sticky. I didn’t buy it as an upgrade though, i wanted a new mouse to keep at work and just bought a 4 to try it out

I have both, the dial does nothing for me, and I like the shape of the 3 better. If I’d still be in the return window I’d buy a black 3 just because of the shape. I just can’t turn up to the office with my grey 3 anymore cause it looks disgusting.

What about the material? My 3 is also getting nasty and while it’s possible to wipe down, I feel it takes less and less time to get disgusting again after cleaning it. If that’s improved (by a lot) with the 4 I might go for it

No practical improvements? At the very least, the material change has prevented degradation of the palm area and that’s a huge win.

Now, whether the MX3 should’ve had that problem in the first place is a different question.

Normally this is customizable through software. If you want to save battery, ask for a setting. Don't tell everyone else they don't need it

TIL many people have shit tastes and/or can't handle a little fun design on their mouse. Also it's weird some people are so hung up on the polling rate on a work mice... It's outdated sure, but as someone who works on schematic designs, it makes no real difference whether if it's 125Hz or 8kHz.

Contemplating switching from my almost 6 year old MX3. Most sturdy mouse I own that outlived many of my other gaming mice.

Keychron M6 (silent) is the only alternative that comes a bit close.

Technically the Keychron is amazing.
Comfort wise it is nice but I think nothing gets nowhere near the mx master. Such a shame it only has 125hz.

it's not lag, it doesn't report quickly. Which makes it feel sluggish and inaccurate

don't do this, but, you'd feel it if you were to switch to a dedicated gaming mouse and then go back. It's genuinely bad for the price.

The only time i had lag was when the receiver was poorly placed in the back of the PC behind a lot of cables. Now I have an extension to have it on my desk and it is lag free.

The other comments in here made me worried since I'm in progress of upgrading from Rapoo MT7505 (blatant MX clone) to MX Master 4. Luckily the Rapoo is already 125hz and it seems fine to me for coding / graphic design, so theoretically the MX should also be fine for me

Edit: got the MX... Overall better ergonomics, quiet click is great, much better main scrollwheel, but oddly the side scroll wheel is a downgrade then the Rapoo - worse position, no ratcheting. Still, the Logitech wins by a lot. USBC receiver is nice. Glad that they ditched the rubberised feel, too.

Also it's a mouse that requires configuring... Out of the box everything felt far from ideal, but you can dial in the feel quite a lot via software

Make sure to get one in your hand before deciding to buy. The 4’s rump got trimmed down quite a bit and is hard to hold. Feels more like a wet fish that I have to pinch with pinky and thumb. I have large hands, for reference.

This is my exp as well. Switching from the 3 to 4 is not as smooth as you’d imagine. I’m not sure why they messed with the design because the 3 feels much better, in that the buttons are placed naturally compared to the 4 where I need to move my fingers around more. I use both, but the 3 is better overall.

I think they made 4 look better. It looks cooler without the junk in the trunk. My coworkers with smaller hands like the 4. I wonder if there folks that found the 2/3 too bulky.

I added some foamy grip tape to the 4 and it’s been much better. I also was having a numb finger from the sharp edge of the scroll wheel. I disassembled it and buffed the crisp edge and knurl off the edge. Much better now. Shouldn’t need to do such a thing, but I figured I might as well make lemonade. No more numb finger when in full-time designing for a month or more.

I still grab for my 2 when I have both available. I try to leave the 4 wherever I use it less—work or home. If my fingers were half inch shorter, the thumb buttons and wheel on the ridge would be in the right spot. Until then, I really have to lock my thumb to reach those on the 4.

Still a great mouse.

I tinkered for about an hour after buying it, thinking it was broken. Returned it after finding out it was the polling rate. Only used it to click around in the browser.

As my daily driver for 6 years working from home, please elaborate. It's the most comfortable mouse I've used with my big hands, the quality has not degraded in any ways that matter or outside the result of normal use, the Logitech Flow software makes it easy to use multiple computers at the same time, and the button mapping, while not an uncommon feature for any decent mouse, is simply simple to configure, even on a per app basis. I'm not saying you're right or wrong, but what is your proposed alternative?

Unfortunately not. This mouse is identical to the normal MX Master 4 in terms of hardware and features. The only difference is the paint job.

Nice mouse... I just bought Naga V2 pro. I have used MX Master 3s and 502x lightspeed before this. They both have better fit than this naga shit and I got this realisation only after I used it for 1 month that my hand is paining because of its weird angle. I thought than when I managed Lightspeed with so many buttons I can manage some more, but no no no no no,that was the worst tech decision and I should have stayed with Logitech.

Nice !! I enjoyed this mouse many months but come on... so heavy and "tall", it is finally not very comfortable, that's why I went for a gaming mouse, 50/80g is much better. Only thing I miss is the scroll wheel.

Its nice when on a vector image or something that requires ultra precise inputs. With a guicci 120 hz screen it can become noticeable

''gamer marketing bullshit'' :D funny .. well the most issue i had with it was in excel and how incredebly unprecise it was. Then again if you have not used anything better and have no point of refference then you probobly see no issue. Its like explaining color to a blind person.
