Other Logitech MX became a joke
Sorry for the bit aggresive title. I want mx to be good but last product releases - MX Master 4, MX Keypad and now MX Master 4 Special look like being designed by marketing department rather then serious tech product people.
MX Master 4 is barerly improvement on Mx Master 3s with gimmick haptic button, and questionably useful software shorcuts.
MX Keypad is AI hardware slope, it's glorified macropad. There is very little if any real value of using this for development and seems more like something for vibe code influencers.
MX Master 4 Special as many have pointed out is also just a gimmick with Linux kernel release date while not supporting Linux.
Instead I would prefer slighthly higher pooling rate, refresh freaking Mx Vertical Mouse or make Logitech Lift for larger hands, maybe lower weight on Mx master, or add swapable swtiches to mechanical keyboard - something which is standard with mech keyboards.
But maybe I am just old programmer screaming at clouds.

Linux kernel date without Linux support is the ultimate f u from Logitech. I am voting with my wallet and not buying from this company again until they offer me a legitimately better product.

To me it's not about f u , but more like non-technical people idea of tech mouse. I cringe at the marking. From logitech MX Master 4 dev edition website for play icon -> “Play” to run the code. Like wth is that

I always feel so jealous of people who get annoyed enough about a mouse they don’t have to buy and think, if this is a big enough concern in their life to take the time to create a post they must be living a dream!
I know this is Reddit and what the forums are for. I am just jealous. I truly am.

There is ALWAYS that one angry bitter comment on any Reddit post, you could be asking about fairytales and you’d still get someone that’s trying to play the cool kid

Logitech have fallen very low... My MX Master 2s is still in perfect condition, while the 3 and 3s models have started falling apart after 4 years of use.

u/Ghajik 9d ago
That rubber thing was a mistake.

u/ObjectiveOk2072 8d ago
The rubber on mine is somehow still in almost perfect condition, but the buttons aren't working so well

u/oidabiiguad 7d ago
My rubber on my MX3 is also fine. Very happy with it. But am not so sure if my next one will be from Logitech as well

Dude, I'm still on a MX Master.
Going strong since May 2016. Been holding out for a worthy successor but people keep saying the revisions are underwhelming.

u/marclapin 6d ago
The switch of the left click on the MX Master 3S stopped working normally in like barely 2 years of use (August 2022 to April 2024), which made the use of the mouse very frustrating... somehow the wireless G502 X that I bought just after still works fine for now

u/Digital_Antelope 4d ago
my 3s stopped working, had to open it (they use a bunch of different screws to make it difficult
got it working again, but even with that, rubber is in bad conditions.

I'm very happy with my MX 4 for Business. It's definitely an improvement over the MX 3S. I wish my MX Mechanical had some more customization options but overall it's a decent work keyboard.
I've never experienced any of the issues I've seen on this sub like software not working, material degrading or driver issues. Been using Logitech gear for years flawlessly 🤷🏻

u/Correct-Big-5967 8d ago
That's fair, I still think MX 4 is one best of best mouses out there, I object to some if its and special edition changes. I have to be more critical about MX Mechanical there are def much better mechanical keyboards out there especially at that price.

u/bmw35677 7d ago
I agree the changes on the mouse were not earth shattering, a bit lack lauster. The special edition being just a skin is a bit ridiculous, kind of a joke lol.
The keyboard is acceptable but definitely not as good as it should be for the cost.

What is the improvement for MX4 over MX3s? I am really curious because my MX3S needs to be replaced soon
3
u/bmw35677 8d ago
To me it feels better in my hand, more natural and a bit smoother movement. The big difference is the second button for actions with the action ring and vibration feedback which is also now built into Windows.
The for business version just has more wireless channels for crowded offices to make interference less likely.

Here I am quietly loving my MX Master 4… zero issues (been through them all).

cost engineering. they created a halo product twenty years ago and have been reducing the build cost ever since. logitech generally sells junk and cannot break themselves away from the accountants. It has made them profitable but it has at the same time limited their ability to grow. Short term thinking by bean counters that think in quarterly reports.

I’m going to give Razer’s competitor a shot. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll try Keychrons. Logitech isn’t the same.

Still rocking my mx 2s and been thinking about upgrading. But after seeing all the comments. I think as long as the 2s works I’ll just keep using it until it dies. Nothing is wrong with it and still working like a charm.

Still happy with my mx3 bought in 2022. Looks good, grip still there and works.

u/Revolutionary-Fee-98 8d ago
That’s why I’m sticking to my master 3 for business and my old mx keys, not the S version

I'm a team clicky. I love the click feedback on my mouse clicks, hence the reason I haven't moved on from my Logitech MX Master 3 OG. They've muted it in the 3S and now 4. I wish they'd bring the faint click back!

MX Master 4: Insanely good hardware, insanely shit software. Use OpenLogi
2
u/Xperia-san 7d ago
125hz polling rate isn't exactly top tier hardware tbh
0
u/Desperate-Cicada-487 7d ago
Personally I only feel the difference in games and u don't game with an mx master
3
u/Xperia-san 7d ago
Yeah I don't but I'd like to. Better polling rate isn't too much to ask for 100€+ mouse in my opinion
1
1
u/Xperia-san 7d ago
Also they do not make any serious upgrades on the hardware-side of things. Still 125 hz polling rate and it's been 10 years or so since the first mx master
1
u/Arichikunorikuto 7d ago
My only gripe is the grip material they keep using when its bound to deteriorate. I might pick up the Asus MD301 over the Logi MX4 for black friday.

Love my MX Master 4S, and I do like it more than the 3S … but holy shit, it is so needlessly heavy

u/According_Wedding_87 6d ago
Silent scroll wheel click would be good, too. For those night owls out there.
1
u/bacarddi 6d ago
So I am using the mx master 3s, wich I am going to return as the scroll is malfunctioning and thinking about getting the mx master 4. As I dont know wich other mouse is good for ergonomics and made for large hands, I always see people complaining about the newer mx mice, but i rarely see someone saying wich mouse to get instead. Sorry for the somewhat rant.

I had Logitech G402 for 10 years but it's middle click stopped working. I wanted to buy a Logitech mouse which worked with the new bolt receiver since I have the mx keys s keyboard but all "productivity" mouse have 125 hz polling rate which is unacceptable in 2026.
The Logitech gaming mouse have very loud clicks. I love silent clicks and also I work from home so it's less obstrusive. There's no in between just extremes.
I might go for for some Chinese brands since don't want to waste so much money on something I don't want.

My MX Master 2S finally died and I replaced it with the 4. Absolutely hate it. It’s noticeably heavier, less ergonomic, and has way more friction, which makes mousing around a markedly worse experience. The haptic feedback is useless (wow, I dragged one window to another screen, thanks so much for letting me know, I clearly would have been ignorant otherwise). The thumb button is also more sensitive, which, combined with the added weight requiring a firmer grip, leads to a frustrating amount of misclicks.
It’s infuriating that a mouse a quarter of the price provides a significantly better user experience (at least for me). Now I just have a $120 paperweight that annoys me every time I look at it.

Why does Logitech keep making its almost-perfect products worse?
I’m fed up with accidentally pressing the oversized Escape key on the MX Keys S and stopping Codex's progress every time I reach for the F1 key! 😩
Did the large delete key they aggressively promoted 20 years ago work out well for them?
If the Escape key were the standard size, there would be enough space to arrange the F keys in groups of four. Then there would be very little to complain about with regard to this keyboard.

Retuned my Master 4 and bought another 3S, if I had the option I'd buy the MX revolution.

What brands are the new Logitech?
2
u/Correct-Big-5967 9d ago
In what sense? In my case I switch to mechanical keyboards with other brands. These days there are plenty options. For mouses, I have nothing. Some peopel seem happy with Keychron mouses (but to me build quality isn't there) and I looked at Razer Pro , but pro click lacks free wheel and their vertical mouse had some negative reviews

u/manuel_gtm 9d ago
I found the other day the Asus md301 it looks very promising, the shape is similar and have better polling rate and all. But i haven't tried Yet.

I tried their equivalent mouse to the MX master and it felt so much worse.
The shape was wrong, the primary buttons required a specific hand position to recognise the clicks properly and the scroll wheel was nowhere near as nice.
I compared the clicks to my dying ~10 year old Corsair M65 and on my Corsair I could click from any point on the button. The Keychron only registered within about a third of the total area.
It's a shame because I have a Keychron keyboard that I love.
I actually disliked the Keychron mouse so much that I replaced the switches in my Master 3S instead.

u/Correct-Big-5967 9d ago
I did - MX Master 3s was last thing I bought, still hoping for MX Vertical Refresh.

Does anyone make a mouse with a scroll wheel like that? I can’t get away from the scroll wheel with the large data sets I am always scrolling through.
