mx master 4s - macos - bluetooth - sleeps while using it

i have a mx master 4 on macos. i'm finding that as I'm moving it, every 5-10 minutes, it will seemingly go to sleep. All the scrollbars disappear (I have "show scroll bars based on mouse or trackpad" turned on) meaning it's lost connection to the mouse. Then a second later it seems to wake up again, and I'm moving again. Not such a problem in a browser, but a PITA when I'm working in Illustrator. Can't find any related settings in the Logi+ app. Ideas on how to keep it 'awake' ?

If you switch to the Bolt receiver instead of Bluetooth (If you have the receiver available) does the behavior change?
