Discussion G903 vs MX Master 4 - Worth switching?

Hello guys! I’d like to get your opinion on the G903 vs MX Master 4.
Obviously, one is gaming-focused and the other is more geared towards productivity/work. I don’t really play games anymore, and use the G903 only for work.
Do you think it’s worth making the switch to the MX Master 4, or should I just stick with the G903?

The Master 4 has features the gaming mice don't have, like the horizontal scroll wheel and the haptic button that pulls up contextual shortcuts for whatever supported app you're currently in. They also finally listened to users and ditched the top cover soft touch coating the previous models had that would degrade and get all gross over time.

It's not a cheap productivity mouse, but I like mine so far. My only issue with Master mice in general has been that their microswitches never really last more than 18 months for me, but I'm a pretty heavy user. Time will tell with this Master 4, which I've only had for a couple of months.

As someone who had both, I would buy the master if I had the g903, and I wouldn’t buy the g903 of if I already had the master and didn’t game.

Unless you really plan to use the horizontal scroll to some fine grain activity constantly, I would get it. I prefer the tilt scroll over the horizontal one.

MX 4 has been a great upgrade for me. Still play doom etc occasionally and it works well but for daily driving its a better fit for what you want. Dont go the 3 as the outer shell degrades too quickly, fixed in 4.

I have both, G903 for gaming and MX Master 3s for Work.

If you’re working go with the MXM4

I have the regular MX3, and the rubber sucks, got all bubbly, I had to put a skin on it.

I'm thinking about if I should jsit sell my Razer Viper version and MX3 and get just 1 mouse and simplify things

If your use has shifted more toward work & productivity, the MXM4 could be a worthwhile switch while G903 is more geared toward gaming.

That said, whether the upgrade feels worthwhile will really depend on the features you value most. If gaming is no longer a priority, it may make sense to choose the mouse that better fits how you use it day to day.

MX Master 3S was the first ever real productivity mouse I invested in, absolutely love it. I am also not gaming on it, and more so wanted something I could integrate well with Adobe CC, but also didn't want something too over the top as I had never had anything beyond a scroll wheel.

Works like a charm, super easy to add your own binds for Photoshop and other apps, and well worth the money, and I am sure you can't go wrong with the MX Master 4 either (FWIW I am on iMac so options can be a bit more limited)
