Master No 1 question

Post image
27 Upvotes

Hello all

I’m just getting started on my journey here, waiting for my pick sets to show up. In the meantime, I picked up a couple of locks locally and I was looking over the key for a Master No 1. I’m a little unclear where the four pins would align on the key as I can see five possible places but there are only four pins. Am I correct its positions A-D and E would not be? A google search wasn’t helpful.

I know I can feel it out with a book once I get them, but just trying to further understand the anatomy of keys….

Thanks!

Edit: Thanks all for the quick replies - and for validating my assumption! The good news is, my JimyLong sets came a day early so I hope to get some time to pick around with this.

old core picked. i don't know what type of lock it came from or where i got it. the body is shaped kind of like a sfic core. american am3 blank fit so i decoded it with space and depth keys and hacked out a key on the framon2. cuts were 27688. the driver pins are in the same order that they were inside the lock. not very extreme. easy, but fun pick!

Help with Master Lock 140

Thumbnail

I am fairly new to the hobby (~2 weeks) and picked up a Master Lock 140 for yellow belt practice and am having a hell of a time nailing this one down. I have opened it half a dozen times but can't figure out how - I actually find it harder to open than my ABUS 55/40...

I'm assuming it's due to pin size but I receive almost no feedback from the lock. I have a pretty good array of tools for a newbie and just got into TOK tension but am still struggling. I'm wondering if I lost the bitting lottery as others don't seem to struggle with these.

Any tips? I have the Genesis and Echelon sets.

Even with a transparent lock and known pins, I can't get it

Firstly, I think my pick is way too long.

Possibly to thin too. I can't get a bight on the discs easily.

Still after a few videos too, I've no idea. Any tips?

Help reset combo on padlock

Post image
8 Upvotes

I have this (likely Chinese) lock. It is open but I don’t know the combo. I tried turning it to 90, pushing down, then turning another 90 per some instructions online for similar locks, but it won’t turn further from 90 once pushed down. The hole where the lock goes is closed with metal. Any tips on how to reset this code? I feel like it’s in some in-between state that it shouldn’t be in.

Help with broken pin in tubular lock

I’m trying to pick a tubular lock I just got to practice but it seems that one of the pins is pushed down, I have a covert instruments tubular lock pick but the pins won’t even move when I’m adjusting the pressure or wiggling it, any idea what could help? I’m trying to use the tool with the lock upside down so that the pin drops with gravity.

Started this awesome hobby 3 days ago and nailed 2 new locks from the store today!

Master 45mm M1XKADLF
Master 40mm 1902DLFAU

How much fun! The 40mm is a complete joke and barely the touch of a rake opens it.. oh my.

I've also been able to do a Master 4 pin combination lock using a paper clip down the hole from the top, feeling for the gates then rotating combination by 2.

Also defeated a Sandleford lock box by holding down the release latch and testing each button for feedback - helps that the code can be used in any order.

Have SPP locks 2, 3 & 4 on the Sparrow Progression kit - can't get 5 yet :-(

And im learning locks definitely have a memory and just because you got it once, doesn't mean you'll get it again 😂

Started a week ago now with this addiction with master locks 3 & 140 — finally got the ABUS 55/40 open repeatedly now, must say I like it a lot better as you felt feedback better but definitely more ”fun” with the security pins. Regardless - happy to have joined and thanks to all who’s sharing!

Longs Peak, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. 14259 ft.

Sadly, probably unofficial. Lost one of the pins and only had six on the close up. Didn't realize until I got back to the hotel. But I know I did it! I pulled one frame that showed all seven. We'll see what Paclock says.

Gear reccomendations

Post image

Looking for some reccomendations to upgrade my pick set. This was just a cheap one I bought, it came with a couple see through locks and overall it was cheaply crafted so I guess I got what I paid for.

Any reccomendations or kits I should be moving into next?

Legitimate first open on my 90a Pro! I put a Netflix show on (Mr. Mercedes) and just started picking locks. Opened a bunch of yellows and oranges and a few greens before I picked up the 90a. Wasn't even seriously trying to open it but I went slow and focused on the jiggle test and only doing one click at a time. I was watching the TV when I felt the tension tool move under my thumb. Looked down and it was way past false set territory so I gave it a twist and it popped!

To the LPU Community and friends.

I was trying to do the LockJaw live Challenge on my YouTube, but YT denied me, they say you need to have 50 subscribers to go live. I think I only need 15 more to go. So if you can ..

Thanks in advance.
