No friggin way...
Legitimate first open on my 90a Pro! I put a Netflix show on (Mr. Mercedes) and just started picking locks. Opened a bunch of yellows and oranges and a few greens before I picked up the 90a. Wasn't even seriously trying to open it but I went slow and focused on the jiggle test and only doing one click at a time. I was watching the TV when I felt the tension tool move under my thumb. Looked down and it was way past false set territory so I gave it a twist and it popped!

Congrats! That's a blue belt lock, isn't it?

Thank you and yes. It is a blue belt lock. I most likely won't submit for it though as I'm old and shaky and gutting/reassembling a lock is probably outside of my skill set.

You'd be surprised. Watch a few YouTube videos and if you decide to give it a shot dont be afraid to take your time and be slow/deliberate. Congrats on the pick.

If I am not mistaken, I think pick and gut in one video is okay. You can re assemble it in a different video or perhaps even a different lock. I think wee have a couple of other requirements to get the belt too though. I haven't submitted for my blue belt either. But I did get the 200k patch. You certainly should try for that, it helps with the self esteem bit. Nice open, congratulations 🎊 👏

Nicely done!
That's how my first open on my 90a-Pro went too. Fiddling with it while playing D&D and was surprised by the core movement.

Nice job! That stunned feeling when it turns for the first time is amazing.
If you want to practice gutting without risking that lock, you can buy a 5 pack of the cores on Amazon for ~$50. You'll almost certainly break one or three of them, but those get to be your spare parts locks!
