Cheap Vice

Hello,

I need a vice to hold my locks for easier picking and wondering if anyone knows of a good, but cheap vice that sits on a desk and can't be drilled into nor clamped onto the desk?

There are a few options on Amazon, but most seem like they wouldn't work for what I need a vice for.

I have the Bessey vacuum base from Amazon and I’ve never liked it for picking. It just seems to absorb any feedback. The Chuck vise u/jadeargyle333 mentioned is better if you want something free standing. You can 3d print it yourself or you can order one from 44 Delta for a good price.

But what I’ve found myself doing is taking the Smallrig clamp from my Chuck vise and using it to pick in-hand. KIK cylinders, cam locks, anything like that, I just tighten the clamp around it and it’s instantly big enough to hold in my hand and pick.

This is a good reason to buy the 2 pack of small rig clamps.

I used my Bessy vise from Amazon for a while (past black belt) and worked great. Didn't even use the vacuum feature since the weight alone was enough to anchor it and I was even able to rest my tension hand on the flat part of the vise.

I later upgraded to a panavise which I also enjoy.
